Summary: A wonderful series for all.
Review: I am on the 3rd book of the series Left Behind, Nicolie, and so far I have thouroughly enjoyed reading this series. These books as I have seen so far, are very well written and accurate to their biblical background. If anyone wants to know and understand how the world will end, here is the ultimate series.

Summary: pretty darn boring...think they left the plot behind.
Review: This is going to earn me some unfavorable votes...but that's nothing new.

I liked the first book (see review June 26th). But I am now done reading this series. This book bored me silly. In fact I will not finish it. I kept thinking that it might get better; but somewhere around the point where Buck and Rayford are both mulling job proposals from the antichrist, I terminally lost interest. If you've ever wondered just how slow or overwrought a plotline to a story can get...here is your answer.

Not only is Tribulation Force horribly boring, but whatever happened to suspension of disbelief? Can anyone tell me why Hattie, Satan's new fly girl apparently, still wants to even speak to Rayford? I thought she didn't want to have anything to do with him at the end of the last book. Same thing with Buck...why in the world does Carpathia want to mess with him any further when he had already succeeded at destroying his career for all intents and purposes?

Let me offer a piece of advice: Do not waste your time reading this series which will probably be only halfway finished when the tenth book rolls around. There are plenty of edifying and entertaining books such as "Till We Have Faces" by C.S. Lewis (anything by Lewis is better than this), "The Thanatos Syndrome" by Walker Percy or even "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon" by Stephen King. Read one of these books-you will get a lot more out of them than the Left Behind books.

Books are like fish. Some are so good that you want to mount it on your wall for every one to see. Some you throw back. This one is definitely not a keeper.

Summary: Cliffhangers Make These Books A Good Read
Review: The Left Behind Series are wonderful books to read. I think that most people would love these books, both the Kids' Series and the Adults' Series. The cliffhangers at the end of the chapters, and at the end of the books, make it so that you CAN'T put the book down! Sometimes, just to be able to stop at a "non-cliffhanger" part of the story, I sit in one place for most of the day and just READ! I think that Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins are wonderful authors and do a good job of making the books as biblical, and yet VERY interesting (to even non-Christians)!

Summary: Borrow-don't buy
Review: I have read books one through four so far of the Left Behind series. Each book simply leads into the next without any closure, so it's clear to me that I'm going to have to read the entire series (I've heard there's going to be 12 books in all). They are thoroughly enjoyable, but I wish the authors would have left out all the review and combined this story into fewer volumes. ... This story is pretty pricy. My recommendation: Borrow these books from one of your friends who already bought them.

Summary: Wonderful sequel to the first book
Review: I find that there is an advantage to starting this series after there are already a bunch of them published in that I don't have to wait 6 months or more to read the next Left Behind book!

The books tend to leave you hanging, so I'm glad I can start the next one right away.

These books are fairly easy reading, and hard to put down, but still do a great job of getting their point across: Who do YOU say Jesus is and have you given your life to him?

Readers should understand that, while well-researched, this is ONE VIEW of how the events of the end-times will play out. The books are great because through the characters, you can more easily understand the different events.

I especiallly enjoyed reading about the two witnesses (near the Wailing Wall in Israel) which are talked about in this passage:

(Rev 11:3 NIV) And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth."

I'm almost done with Nicolae and I have the next two books after THAT one in the house!

These books are fast-moving and enjoyable reading. They are good to give to people who are curious about the Christian faith and end-times related issues. Many people have come to know Christ through these books!

Summary: I AM THAT I AM
Review: Hey, what's happening? I, and only I, am the true Antichrist.

I am the Antichrist of books that try to cash in on people's fears and apocalyptic scriptures. I am the Antichrist of illiterate pseudo-religious rubbish attempting to become cult work and... wait, I hear something... it must be the Eudoran aliens coming back to get me! I did promise them not to buy books like this ever again, but I failed: I simply can't resist having a look at the lobotomized pits man (in an all-inclusive genderless sense, naturally) can sink to in his (ditto) search for masochistic self-punishment. Bravo, bravo! And the style of writing, the language, the beauty of impressive dialogues! But I must stop here: the flying saucer has just landed outside and the Eudorans are coming out to take me to their leader. Katù baradah nikto: paranimpho haalhha bumsphincter tata!

Summary: Not As Good As #1
Review: A bit of a let down from the original Left Behind, this book is good but not excellent. The suspense from the first continues but the plot line is more predictable. The characters who were introduced are here again but are pretty one dimensional and therefore not as intriguing. Don't get me wrong, the characters are interesting and you do get drawn to them, it's just that they are not complicated enough, like in real life. The plot thickens with the unveiling of the "evil one". The book serves three purposes very well. It makes you think, first and foremost. Second, it makes you think about you know who and his adversary and all they both represent. Third, it entertains with a fictional story that purports to reveal the truth. The authors do a good job on all fronts. You will be preached to in a manner of speaking but not hit over the head with a sledge hammer. The book will have you thinking and you may just come out a better person for it.

Summary: Tribulation Force (Left Behind #2).
Review: This book was terrible. I really wanted to like this book, but it was just so bad. The writing was poor, the plot was uninteresting and the characters were thin and unrealistic. Some of the dialogue made me sick - I felt like I was reading a teen romance book. In some parts I thought that I was reading a Track -- good stuff but too bland for an action novel.

This book suffers from the same problem as most other Christian fiction: we settle for low quality works just because they include a Christian perspective.

Bottom line: unless you like reading books at the third grade level, skip this one. Frank Peretti books are much better.

Summary: A reminder that prejudice is still rampant today.
Review: Let me begin by saying that I read this book because it was selected by the members of my book group. I was displeased with the first in the series and am likely to dislike the rest of the series. However, I did not dislike the book because of a lack of writing skills or creativity. I disliked it because of its strong use of prejudice and anti-Semitism.

The book basically attacks the Jewish people saying that they are denied entrance into heaven because of a small portion of their beliefs. I grew up being told of an all loving God. This god would care much more about the way a person lives their life rather than their denomination. For me the book served as a reminder that some people still disrespect others simply because of a name or title.

Summary: Decent for a sequel
Review: While, I agree with most that this was not as good as the first book, it did a good job of segwaying to what I expect to be a great third book and beyond. Answered questions and kept up with characters well.
