Summary: So sorry to hear this book is out of print
Review: 1-555-Goddess is the first in Dark Horse's graphic novel adaptions of their Oh My Goddess! series. This is a great way to get all the early comic book relaeses at once. However there are a few surprises for those not familiar with Oh My Goddess! or the Japanese original Ah! Megamisama. First of all although Fujishima sensei has some of the most lovely and delicate drawings ever put to paper, be prepared that it was shaky going at first and the original chapter shows quite a different Belldandy than the one we come to know and love. Secondly, Dark Horse decided not to publish several of the original chapters so the stories in this volume do not flow together very well. These minor complaints aside, Oh My Goddess! is a wonderful, lovely story. The characters are so well developed you will love them all. Fujishima sensei is such a skilled artist and has an incredible immagination for cute quirky outfits for the goddesses and is really adept at amazingly detailed renderings of machinery. (I want Belldandy's clothes! ) The story is gently amusing and very sweet but it appeals to both genders and has enough action and adventure for those that don't find knitting an adorable pastime for a goddess.

Summary: An OK book.
Review: A book that seems to be aimed at younger readers, with no nudity, cussing and few fights (though the Keiichi does grab the Goddess Urd in a place he shouldn't at one point). The book seems to focus on the relationship between Keiichi and the Goddess Belldandy, which seems to be one the boy wishes to mature into a serious one. This is the first book and you might wish to see the reviews of the other books in the series before trying it out. As the series continues it DOES get funnier.

If you enjoyed this series, I suggest you try out the Ranma 1/2 books also.

Summary: Something for everyone
Review: Despite the VERY hypothetical premise of this series, there's a down-to-earth quality about Oh My Goddess! that sets it apart from most anime/manga. Everyone can identify with peer pressure, romantic issues, and school life. Best of all, the character design (looks AND personality) is excellent. You'll almost wish that Belldandy was real.

My only complaint is that the stories are too disjointed -- this is a nice introduction to the Goddess world, but there's no real plot through the book. However, 1-555-GODDESS is still required reading for any true anime/manga fan.

Summary: Oh My God, this book ......
Review: From first glance, the manga looked completely stupid (not to mention ugly), but I read it anyway because of the "don't judge a book by its cover" line. Well, I should have followed my instincts. Not only are the illustrations horrible, but this manga also has no plot build up. The first page starts off right in the middle of the story, and you wouldn't understand what the heck he (the main character guy; didn't even bother to remember his name) was doing unless you read the summary on the back cover. Further more, the characters' relationships are unclear. The author gives no indication to whether or not Belldandy likes the main character, but then has them kissing out of nowhere. Um, what happened to character conflicts and all that good stuff?

Summary: I like this book, but some of the later ones are better....
Review: I am a big fan of Oh My Goddess! and have been for years. I actually started on 'Sympathy for the Devil', and went back and looked this one up. I own almost all of the OMG books in print ('Hand In Hand' is the one I need to get) and love them.

This is the very first OMG book that Kosuke Fujishima did, and it shows in his artwork. While this is nice, it is the later art that grabs most fans.

The characters are all original and all-around wonderful. Urd is my favorite, and Belldandy is a close second. Keiichi is a normal human being, unlike many heroes. And I try not to spend too much time with people like Tamiya and Otaki.

If you want to see what started it all, then get this book!

By the way, the reason I gave this only 4 stars was because some of the pages look as though they were put through a copier without Edge Erase on. In some places they are too dark to see what is going on very clearly.

But, that is a minor complaint. So, get the book!

Summary: Not as good as I thought
Review: I bought this manga after hearing many good things about it. But when I opened it up I was less than thrilled. The art was, well there's no other way to put it, rather ugly. I know it's a matter of opinion but manga-ka such as CLAMP and Takeuchi Naoko have far better talents. Also, there was no plot to the story. I'm not saying there has to be, but when the art is bad and the characters aren't appealing then usually the plot can make or break the story. Of course if there is none, then well I guess you have no story. It's all in your tastes, I happen to like magical girl stories such as Sailormoon, Magic Knight Rayearth, and Cardcaptor Sakura. But don't let my opinions sway you, you can only decide if you like by reading it yourself.

Summary: Story has promise, but seems to lag in places.
Review: I don't know why, but may'be because I've been a romantic for much of my life and have wanted a girlfriend, the stories such as Urusei Yatsrua and Video Girl Ai seemed intriguing. Oh My Goddess follows this trend: some guy who seems down on his luck ends up with a girl who seemingly changes his life, and who he develops feelings for. Oh My Goddess starts with a wrong number dialed by college student Keichi, which summons the goddess Belldandy. Because of his dial-up, Belldandy will grant Keichi one request. However, when Keichi requests to have someone like Belldandy with him forever, he didn't quite expect what happens next. Belldandy as a character is much different from such other characters as "Urusei Yatsura's" alien girl Lum, and "Video Girl Ai's" Ai Amano. While Lum & Ai had quite a bit of sex appeal to them, Belldandy is almost close to borderline "goody-goody." She doesn't lie, is very truthful, and takes most situations in good stride. The stories in the volume also introduce Belldandy's half-demon sister Urd, who is also a Goddess, but limited in ability because she lies quite a bit. Urd also displays the most sex appeal of all the Goddess characters introduced. Kosuke Fujishima's illustrations have quite an interesting style, as Keichi, Belldandy & Urd have almost close to basic human proportions. Even the way Kosuke illustrates machinery in the book is almost spot on, and the characters meld well with situations. My main complaint with this book was the way Dark Horse put it together. We go from the very first story with Keichi and Belldandy, and then are plunged into Urd's first appearance. However, Belldandy looks so extreme in drawing style from one to the next (she looks more human in the Urd story), and there are characters introduced in following stories that you have no idea where they came from! That is the main complaint with this story. May'be Dark Horse Comics should release a revised edition.

Summary: Yay!Good Manga!!!!!!! :)
Review: I loved this book! It is about Keiichi(did I spell that right?)who dialed for room service, but unknowingly dialed the Goddess Help Line and a goddess actually came to his house!
Although this is a really good book, I wouldn't give it to kids (unless the're pretty mature) if you get my drift...
Anyway, this is an EXTREMELY good book(besides the fact that Dark Horse cut out a couple chapters) and I suggest you get it A.S.A.P!
