Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Southern fried fun
Review: Like a night at the county fair in Nashville in September, this book is warm and fun. Mike Hawthorne's art is perfect for Ricketts' crazy yarns. I highly recommend it.

Summary: Southern fried fun
Review: The highest praise I can give Whiskey Dickel is that it's a ton of fun. Ricketts is a master at twisting convention to suit his needs, and he's done so here by giving us the twisted cowpunk "origin" of Ms. Dickel. And he's tossed in the fast-paced beginning of a romantic rodeo action-adventure, to boot. Mike Hawthorne is one of the busiest artists in comics, and not without reason. He's a serious talent, and he brings just the right mix of humor and action to the book. Add to that a greatly entertaining bonus section, featuring talented creators and their takes on truly international cowgirls, and Whiskey Dickel adds up to a bargain. And then some. It's also just a cool-looking package. I bought a few copies just to give to friends. Saddle up and ride, kids.
