Summary: Excellent comic if a little sappy
Review: This is a collection of Rose Is Rose comic strips, one of the few decent ones not to appear in the Washington Post (along with Foxtrot and maybe Funky Winkerbean). They're a bit sappy at times: son Pasquale has a helpful guardian angel and is too good to be believed. On the other hand, the artwork is excellent and some of the ideas superb. Rose, the mother, has recurring fantasies of being a biker babe, which are brought out at odd moments. Dad is a great tease, at one point getting onto his knees with his shoes under them and telling Pasquale that he got that way because he didn't eat his vegetables. Certainly very entertaining.

Summary: A comic strip with heart
Review: When I started reading Rose Is Rose on the web (at United Media's web site), I was instantly captivated by the simple charm and wonder that the strip presents. Pat Brady has done a wonderful job of taking the ordinary and everyday and presenting it from a child's point of view, where there still remains a touch of magic in everything. There's a sense of love and caring throughout the strip, and a spirit of playful fun that can't help but make you feel good. I never come away from this book without a big smile, and a feeling that, despite whatever else I may see in the world, there's still some things out there that are just *right*.
