Summary: Hardly compares to the anime.
Review: Being a huge Tenchi fan, of the OAV and TV series, I think I would know a good Tenchi story. This isn't one of them. Compared to the OAV series it is based on, to the television / Tenchi Universe series, and to any other manga I've read, this was just boring. It has hardly any humour (or rather none worth laughing at), and the storyline itself is too unoriginal to bother reading again. I've read LOTS of manga and seen the entire Tenchi OAV series, so I should know. I'm dissapointed that the creator didn't do a better job of making a sequel comparable to the original series. ...

Summary: Tenchi in Manga is wonderful!
Review: I fell in love with the anime series and thought the manga would be a big rehash of the plot, but it's not!! The story is original, the art is even cooler than the animation sometimes, and it's great to get in the graphic novel form!

Summary: Realy Spiffy Book!
Review: I love all things Tenchi, and these "visual novels" have to be the most interesting way to read or view Tanchi. Once you have seen the ova or edited versions of Tenchi Muyo or Universe you will most likely know what is going on, at leased in the begining. Washu( my favorite!) is a very important character in the plot, and in the middle and the end Ryoko shows that she has something up in there in her sometimes seamingly vacant head(no offence to Ryoko fans but she sometime lacks common sense!). The art is also very good, but all of the "swooshes" and "heyas" get a little annoying. DO NOT BUY SWORD PLAY(THE NEXT BOOK) UNTILL YOU READ THIS ONE! You will be reeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllly confused! This book ends like an episode of Tenchi; at the oddest moment, like when Washu makes a remark that makes you think. All the way thought this book is awsome. Buy it! You will never regret it!

Summary: Exellent! Action-packed and hilarious!
Review: I LOVE this series, and these comics are great. Funny, action-packed, and great story lines! Why the 4 stars? Ah, because some of this material IS NOT for kids. I'm upset to say that, because I know younger kids, (like 8) like this series, and they pick up the book to find a little nudity and swearing. Same with the videos-Parental advisor elert! The comics are great, but to watch the series- see it on TV!

Summary: Exellent! Action-packed and hilarious!
Review: I ordered the first couple of these graphic novels because I was fond of the Tenchi Muyo! OVA series. The comic picks up where the OVA left off (so, you might want to watch the OVA before you read them).

While some of the material may not be suitable for young children, it is very entertaining. Hitoshi Okuda strikes a perfect balance between action and humor. I'm looking forward to reading more.

Summary: What did you want?
Review: If the answer is more Tenchi madness, this is what you'll get. I will admit that was was leery of any translation by Viz, but those suspiscions were put to rest after the first few pages. I managed to find a Japanese copy and worked out the translations on my own and was pleasantly surprised to find that the English version is farly close to the Japanese. I liked the direction the author was going with the series and look forward to more. If you are as big of a Tenchi otaku as I am, then you cannot pass this up. Go, buy it now! shoo shoo
