Summary: Start of second Rayearth series
Review: Rayearth #4 is the first book of the second Rayearth series. Here, our three heroines are sent back to Cephiro, where they find that the land is collapsing due to the lack of a Pillar. They meet the old cast of characters and discover that Cephiro is being invaded by three countries who wish to gain control of the country by becoming the Pillar. They also meet the mysterious and handsome Lantis, younger brother of the ill-fated Zagato.

The drawing style is very similar to that in the first series. Remember that this manga is geared towards 10-year-old girls, so the art is romantic in nature, but even so it is quite simple. If you compare this against other girly titles such as "X", "Basara", or even "Fushigi Yuugi", the art work here seems definitely rushed by comparison. Also, of all my manga, MKR has by far the most degeneration into superdeformed characters, which is very cute but again, the overabundance (in my opinion) appeals more to a young age group.

The plot remains to be seen since the first series followed a standard airheaded magic girl storyline for the first two books, then threw a shocker in the third. However, from what I've heard of the rest of this series, MKR series 2 is a much more straightforward plotline. So far, everything seems very obvious, even who the new Pillar will be, but we'll have to wait til the end of this series to find out for sure. There is a lot more romance in this series than the first -- Fuu and Ferio have a couple cozy moments in this book, but all indicators point to the main lovey-dovey action as being Hikaru and Lantis in future installments. The appearance of two of the three countries seem like space-fillers. And like the original series, the manga is much shorter than the corresponding anime.

Overall, if you liked the first MKR series, you should get this book, but be prepared to be a little disappointed since this series looks to be not as good as the first books (unless you like that it has much more romance). It's still enjoyable as light, easy reading.

Summary: The bomb diggity*
Review: The book was the best I only look for premium edition rayearth books. Hey, all I have to say is this book is the greatest, and one day I hope to relese a new manga of my own but it probably won't be Japanise it will only have japanise drawer's making my own manga, but I'm telling you that so far Magic Kinght Rayearth is the best and I hope my manga will be popular just like it.P.S.(buy book 5 and 6 of rayearth you might like it).

Summary: Great "Second Season" of Rayearth manga!
Review: The first three books of Rayearth were very good in their story arc, but a bit predictable. This 4th book kicks off another arc of story - and what a great arc it is! This second part delves much more into the three girls' psyches, especially Hikaru's. Not only that, but we're introduced to several great new characters that seem to appear fully fleshed-out and ready for action. The way two of the male characters react to each other and Hikaru is especially interesting - they can see her potential.
I definitely recommend books 4 - 6, especially if you were disappointed with the sad ending of book 3. This new arc, I have to tell you, does end on a happy note. Quite an INTERESTING note, too, I might add. There are lots of twists and turns, plus some hints of romance, so if you're looking for adventure, slight romance, and intelligent story, you've come to the right manga book. :)
Oh yeah, and you get to see Mokona again. What more could you ask for?
