Summary: Ranma 1/2, Viz Graphic Novel
Review: I AM ADDICTED TO RANMA! Sure, I have read other books before and liked them, but they were nothing compared to Ranma! The constant conflict between the main characters is hilarious! I suggest that you go out and buy Ranma 1/2 #1, #2 and #3. Trust me, when your done with the first one, you WILL want to read more. Five Stars all the way!

Summary: Better than I expected
Review: I love Inu-Yasha & really feel that work is the best by the author, but having bought Seasons 3 & 4 of the Ranma Anime, I decided to try the manga. A very pleasant shock as I was expecting the vain, rude Ranma from the anime, but Ranma's sweeter in the first 3 volumes I've read. The 1st 2 eps of the anime are pretty faithful to the manga. Very funny & worth the time.

Summary: I love Ranma 1/2!!
Review: I love ranma 1/2!! Thank you Rumiko for creating Ranma 1/2! So far I have vols. 1 and 11 and im planning on getting 2 and 3. My fav scene in Vol. 1 is when Akane steps into the bathroom and spots a naked boy! And my fav scene in Vol. 11 is when...um...well, I liked all the scenes!

Summary: Funny as ever!
Review: I read the first one so I naturally had to get this one. In this novel you meet Kodachi the Blace Rose who turns out to be Upperclassman Kuno's sister (read the first one and then this on so it will make more sense). Kodachi is the representative of St. Bacchus school for girls Martial Rhythmic Gymnastics team. She believes in "fighting in all fairness" before the match. Needless to say she defeats the whole team of Furinkan High before the match so Akane is asked to step in with only a few days to master rythmic gymnastics techniques. Anyway, Kodachi tries to attack her one night but Akane is too good, so Kodachi takes off. Meanwhile, Ranma [boy-type] is chasing after Ryoga in his P-chan form with a pot of hot water. Ranma clonks Kodachi on the head with it without realizing it then he sees Kodachi falling. He grabs her and asks her if she's okay and she falls for him right on the spot. Later on Ranma tells Kodachi that he is Akane's fiancee (to get her to leave him alone) and ends up being wagered as the prize for the Martial Rhythmic Gymnastics match. Akane hurts her ankle the night before the match and [girl-type] Ranma must take her place. This volume is just too funny! I'm not going to say anymore because I've given up too much already. Take my word for it, though, this graphic novel, no...the whole series is a must-have for any manga/anime collector, not to mention the casual reader/watcher (Ranma 1/2 is also available as anime). I warn you now these are addictive and can really strain your bank account :(

Summary: This book is soooo funny!
Review: I really loved Ranma 1/2. Ranma is a disgruntled teenager, his life completely changed by the fact that when doused in cold water, he becomes a girl! Not only does this cause problems with his father, who turns into a panda, but also with his social life. He's engaged to a man-hating girl named Akane, who seemingly wants nothing to do with him and is called 'Tree-born kettle girl' or 'Beautiful Pig-tailed Goddess' by the Blue Thunder of Furikan High, Kuno. This book is full of hilarious spats between Ranma and Akane, Ranma and his father, Ranma and Kuno... get the picture? I highly recomend this book to anyone who enjoys humor and out-of-the-ordinary plots.

Summary: One of the best Ranma 1/2 volumes- HILARIOUS!!!
Review: I'm thouroughly amazed at the ability of Takahashi to cram all of that humor into the pages. There's practically atleast 1 or 2 funny things on every singly page! My favorite part of this was the martial rhythymic gymnastics tournement. On the morning of the match (after an entire night of "training" with Ryoga), Ranma is chewing on something at the table while holding it with chopsticks, and saying,"Hey, Kasumi. This figh cake is tough."
Response: "That's a towel."
The funniest section is probably the actual fight between Kodachi the Black Rose and (female) Ranma. This spans multiple chapters, and also involves Ryoga as "P-Chan" (in the form of a small black pig) handcuffed to Ranma's wrist. Since Kodachi is known for doing anything to win (from "fighting in all fairness before the match" to sleeping potions in roses to hammering their opponent in their room) and also since Ranma (male) is being wagered for the match, this is much more than just a competition of throwing mallets back and forth. In the middle of it all, Kodachi throws a teapot at Ranma, and a reverse transformation occurs momentarily before Akane counters with a fire hose...
Also, the referees count anything that isn't a "bare-handed blow" as valid! (Reporter:And she[Ranma] snags the table! What an innovation! And Kodachi counters with her own brother! [Kuno takes kendo and always carries his sword with him- he whacks the table in half] Use of one's brother is not considered a bare-handed attack. Use of brother-VALID! The 3 Referees: Valid!)
Very hard to put down. Best if read with another person to share the laughter! Don't miss this graphic novel!

Summary: Entertaining and Habit-Forming!
Review: If you're looking at volume 2 of Ranma 1/2, you've either joined the club of those addicted to the world of Saotome Ranma, or you clicked on any Ranma 1/2 book link to see what all the hoopla about Ranma is about. For these folks, here's your synopsis!

Created/written/illustrated by Takahashi Rumiko (also responsible for Japan's current hit "Inu-Yasha" and cult favorite "Maison Ikkoku"), Ranma 1/2 tells the saga of teen martial artist Saotome Ranma, who had the misfortune of falling into a cursed spring on a training trip in China. The curse causes him to become a curvy young redhead female version of himself whenever he is splashed by cold water (tea, rain, anything wet). His rather irresponsible father, Genma, also fell into a spring, but his curse causes him to change into a panda. The manga (more than 30 volumes in the original Japanese) follows their (mis)adventures as Ranma and his dad move in with old family friend Tendo Soun, whose youngest daughter, tomboy Akane, Ranma happens to be engaged to (an arrangement neither teen is pleased with). Ranma encounters challenges at school and in his training from suitors of both genders who are either aware or unaware of his curse, as well as from rivals who either want to thrash him soundly or claim Akane as their own.

It is important to note that the Japanese are very frank about such subjects as bathing and nudity, and poor Ranma is often caught with his shirt off when he gets splashed... and in time learns to use his "feminine wiles" to get what he wants. There is, however, no sex, despite the anime's listing by Viz Video as a "martial arts sex comedy." Gender comedy is more like it, since the main characters don't even kiss... well, except once, but Ranma was in cat-mode then (you need to read the series to figure out THAT one).

In summary, Ranma 1/2 is entertaining, very easy to follow, and well drawn, with characters that have their own personalities and quirks and are different from each other, with plots that keep you riveted, if not laughing -- or groaning -- on Ranma's behalf. An excellent introduction to Japanese manga.

Summary: This is a great (and involved) series!!: )
Review: My favorite book is number 3. The story is a little involved, so you have to read the first one to understand it. The problem is that the translated mangas of this series takes SO long to come out in America. Anyway, it's a good series, and you should read it. I also like Inu-Yasha, which is also written by Rumiko Takahashi.
