Review: All of Alternative Comics' anthologies are excellent primers as to the latest developments in the world of cartooning.

Some of the most exciting new works from the most breathtaking cartoonists are found in these books. In this volume, ROSETTA, we are exposed to the work of Ulf K, a cartoonist who deals almost exclusively in "silent" works (his story here is entirely pantomime), James Kochalka, who does sugary-cute autobio strips, up and coming alt-cartoonist Nick Bertozzi, and most impressively, a huge chunk of Megan Kelso's upcoming epic.

ROSETTA tops even some of the comics anthologies in its own category by providing the reader with some behind-the-scenes material on a few of the works presented in the volume.

All in all, as a primer and as a stand-alone unit, this book promises to put the reader right on the front lines of the newest developments in comics.
