Summary: A good idea gone wrong
Review: I've never read a book with so much potential that was so dreadfully wasted. Having Luke cross over to the dark side was an interesting idea (and having the Emperor come back as a clone a somewhat less interesting idea), but the way the story is executed is somewhat flawed. The dialogue is very out-of-character (when would Han say "We've got a date with the dark side"), the characters even act out-of-character (Han thought they should have stayed home instead of trying to rescue Luke and Lando), and even the name of the new planet where the rebels are based CHANGES a third of the way through the story! Consistency, people! Luke gives into the Emperor's offer to join him way too quickly, then returns to the light side in the same manner (to paraphrase, Leia says "Please Luke, return to the light side! I'll let you play with my kids!" and Luke says "Okay" -- it's that bad.)

The artwork would've been good if the artist had used more than 2 colors to a page. It looks as if he drew his pencil work, then just picked a random water color and spilled it on the page.

It's not all bad, and is somewhat entertaining, but far from perfect. It is much better than any Star Wars story that Kevin Anderson has done (but then again, what Star Wars story isn't?) This was followed up by DARK EMPIRE II (where the Emperor returns...again...) and the 2 issue only EMPIRE'S END (from what I hear, the author wanted it to be longer than 2 issues, but the publisher wouldn't allow it. I wonder why?)

Summary: Excellent
Review: I think this comic was one of the best star wars comics that i have read i have only read a bit up to where Luke meets the emperor but this is definently better than the second

Summary: Dark Empire is a disgrace to the name Star Wars.
Review: This story line shouldn't have even been allowed to enter the Star Wars galaxy. The problems I have with this story start from the beginning, the dialogue is too jerky. The characters say need less things and that interrupts the flow a real conversation would have. My next problem is the "hyperspace wormhole" that just sounds like Star Trek not Star Wars to me. My last two specific problems are with the illustrations, first they just look bad. The characters look totaly different than they do in the movies. The only one that looks similar to the movies is the cover. My other problem with the illustrations is that they all have a green or red tint. The story line just doesn't feel like Star Wars!!!

Summary: I personally hate this book for more than one reason!!!
Review: I love reading, specially Star Wars. Now first of all, I know you state that it's a comic, but please, Say it in big print! This Is A COMIC BOOK! Second, the illistration looks nothing at all like the characters. Finally, I think some of the things said are not what the characters would say. Sorry but this book is not what I would say interesting. The story line would be great for a real book, some one should try writing one on this subject. If you're like me and hate comics don't get this book!

Summary: How stupid was this?
Review: I will never again read Star Wars comics. I hated the character abuse portrayed in Dark Empire, and I can't see how George Lucas could let trash like that bear the name STAR WARS. Thank God I didn't waste my money on the book. All I can say is I would have given it zero stars, but that wasn't an option.

Summary: Definetly one of the best SW Comics!!!!
Review: Luke Skywalker Using the Dark Side? It's true! Thank god leia brought him back or the remnants of the New Republic would have died for sure! Howcome the Emperor didn't come back sooner, I don't know. But That Star Destroyer he had! Twice the size of the Super Star Destroyer at Hoth! Wow! What a great comic! And then the Emperor comes back in Darke Empire II!!! Why they don't have Empire's End I don't know. But What are you waiting for? Buy this comic NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: Best Star Wars comic out there.
Review: This was a truly excellent story. Luke was by far the best character in it, becoming one with the darkside. The plot was well thought out, especially for a comic, and the art was great. Indeed this is a story worthy of the name Star Wars.

Summary: A great book with the best twist yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: I loved the plot, the drawings, heck I liked the whole book. But why is everybody's face green? Overall the book is worth it.
