Summary: boring ,banal ,blaaaaaaahhhhhhhh ! ! ! ! !
Review: I'm not too much of a Star Wars fan , but I do know the plot , characters , ect. I haven't really read any other of the Star Wars comics , but I do know good work when I see it........ AND THIS IS FAR FROM IT ! The colors were murky , and tasteless. The plot........... well, I could have written something better . World Devastators?! A resurected Emperor Palpatine ?! WAY TOO TYPICAL ! @_@ - blahhh ! The people that made this probably wanted to create a brand new universe in the Star Wars world but they failed MISERABLY . ...... SEE KIDS , THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU AREN'T ORIGINAL !

Summary: ONE OF THE BEST SW COMICS .EVER!
Review: Despite popular opinion,I think DARK EMPIRE is a good book.I think the art is solid(but the colors are blah)and the charactors are more 3-D than in most novels(Darksaber, anyone?).Sure, some concepts are a little silly(Ressurected Palpatine, the Empire always having a super weapon,Force storms, etc.)but its still a fun read. The only big letdown is Mara Jade, the Emperor's Hand, doesn't even make a cameo.Other than that,DE is good readin'(but stay away from DE 2 and EMPIRE'S END.They suck.).

Summary: Luke becomes the apprentice of a ressurected Emporer.
Review: The opening pages of "Dark Empire" gripped me instantly, and I wasn't disappointed by the storyline. The characters are familiar and the technology and diversity of aliens, planets, and vehicles are worthy of the "Star Wars" name. The only drawback is that the artwork can become a bit confusing and sloppy at times, but a true "Star Wars" fan will be able to look past that. In chronology, it and its sequel "Dark Empire II" take place between "The Last Command" and "Jedi Search". It contains a vital chunk of the "Star Ears" saga, although this is a comic book with no novelization. Definately worth a look.

Summary: Wash-out
Review: The writing is stilted and juvenile. A single example should suffice: "I can feel the Force moving through me . . . Guiding my hands in the terrible tasks of war." Please. My 10-year old niece can write a better sentence. In order to pack the maximum amount of plot into the minimum amout of artwork, about half the sentences are synopses. The color selection is limited and mostly washed out. In sum, only for those who must own everything.

Summary: Not a rehash, but thats a good thing
Review: This comic has gotten some of the worst reviews by fans because it trys to put forth origional Star Wars material in the form of art. Reading this comic was the closest thing I got to watching a Star Wars movie for the first time from one of the masses of Star Wars rehashes. It has a very artistic use of color for mood and brilliant use of still pictures for vast action scenes. If you don't think this comic is superior to all other Star Wars Comics, take a look at some of the other ones, they are terrible! Most of the rehashed Star Wars products are tame and uninteresting. Aside from the tactics of Thrawn there are very few cool ideas added to the Star Wars novels by the rehashes. However Dark Empire intoduces a good dozen interesting extentions of Sci-Fi Ideas that Star Wars began: Super-Weapons, New Starfighters, Cool Planets, Detailed Urban Warfare on Coruscant... And give it up, World Devestators are cooler than the Sun Crusher, Droid TIE's are cooler than any other new fighter save the ones from Computer Games, the rendition of Nar Shadda is cooler than any other non-trilogy location visualy as well as story. Dark empire might be might take risks by using origional color schemes and introducing radical stroy twists to the Star Wars Universe, but is better than reading about the Jedi Twins getting in and out of trouble. Wanna read a real Graphic Novel... Try The Watchmen or Dark Night Returns

Summary: DARK EMPIRE deserves more praise
Review: I'm really surprised by the other reviews of this series. I thought _Dark Empire_ (along with its sequels _Dark Empire II_ and _Empire's End_) was far and away the best of the _Star Wars_ comic books. I wish ANY of the Star Wars novels were as good as this. I confess I've been bored to tears by the ever-multiplying Star Wars novels by Timothy Zahn, Kevin Anderson, etc. THIS series has what I've been missing: that feeling of genuine menace and insidious temptation of the Dark Side that was the best part of _Empire Strikes Back_ and _Return of the Jedi_. I wish they'd make a novel of this.

Summary: I expected more from a Star Wars story.
Review: I'll read any Star Wars, but I didn't like it. I like comic books, and I like the regular books. The plot was too loose, the characters don't look anything like themselves, and I was really disappointed in the end.

Summary: BLAAAAAAAAHHHHHH
Review: First, I'd like to apoligize to the author. I am a writer and I know how it feels to have your work rejected! Secondly, I think someone needs to get me a basin because I am going to hurl. That was one of the WORST Star Wars comics I have EVER read! The only good part was the world devastators. That is what the star is for.
