Summary: Not nice.
Review: This Graphic Novel starts some years after the Return of the Jedi movie. It shows how the empire reacts to the downfall of the emperor, and how a war for power emerges inside the ranks of the empire. Although it starts fairly nice it continues weakly and the reader loses interest. Only for Star Wars Fanatics.

Summary: Audiocassette highly recommended for kids
Review: My son acquired the audiocassette versions of Dark Empire and Dark Empire II when he was six years old, and after 2 1/2 years he still hasn't tired of them. What higher recommendation is there? The cast performance is energetic and faithful to the original film characters, the sound effects are first rate, and the whole production is very well paced. The tapes are visceral in the way that the films were at their best. As an adult, I roll my eyes a bit at the "Will-Luke-go-over-to-the-Dark-Side" cliffhangers and the repeated demise and reappearances of the Emperor. But it's no more silly than the Saturday morning serials that inspired the series, and the kids don't care a bit!

The bottom line: it will keep the kids entertained for hours...or maybe even years.

Summary: WHAT A PITY !
Review: This was a horrible, horrible comic. Why isn't there a 0-star rating ? The story was based on a good idea, I must admit, but the way Veitch & Kennedy made the idea materialise was horrible. Absolutely no dialog, nothing was added to the personalities who were flat and unimaginative, nothing was added to the Star Wars universe (no heroes, no technology except the World Devastators who turned up to be ridiculously idiotic at the end), it was just a cheap copy of the movie Star Wars Trilogy. And the sketches were even worse, all heroes were unrecognisable, with the possible exception of the Emperor (after all who could mistake all these wrinkles under a dark hood?)

All in all a hollow story. A pity, because the idea was really good, and could have made a great comic, even a very good book!

Still, if you are a Star Wars fan, if you love Kevin Anderson and, even better, Timothy Zahn's books and especially the neat way Zahn tied everything up in Vision of the Future, then you must read Dark Empire, if only to know what the other writers are talking about.

Summary: Great book, but dialouge needs work.
Review: Great book,I loved the colorful drawings and good portrayal of the characters.I was very, very pleased at the return of the Emperor. Ever since Return of the Jedi I wondered if he would make a suprise return overall, great story just wise up on the dialouge next time chaps.

Summary: Anakin Skywalker would be rolling in his grave
Review: Well, rolling in the place where he was burned. But you know what I mean.

First off, he went through *hell* to save the galaxy from the dark side, to save Luke from the dark side, even though he probably doubted he could save *himself* from the dark side...

And Luke just goes and mucks the galaxy up again. D'oh!

Also, bringing Palpatine back was a *BAD* idea. Couldn't Luke turn to the Dark Side on his own, or is he so wussy he has to be led around by somebody--anybody? I mean, besides the fact that the whole cloning thing was totally unbelievable.

The only good thing to come out of this were the superb fanfics written by Brendan Wahlberg (available on theforce.net).

The story itself wasn't so bad (but spare me from Bodo Baas's poetry!) and the artwork was gorgeous, although the characters were very strange-looking. I mean, the artist made Luke and Leia *tall* for heaven's sake. That's just *wrong*. And I loved Han pulling a blaster on Luke.

All in all, okay if you want to read something that reads like mediocre fanfiction, but it does have awesome art.

At least it's better than Dark Empire II and Empire's End.

Summary: Great, Just a Few Questions About It
Review: If the Emperor can enter anyone when his clone body deteriorates, why doesn't he just enter Luke as soon as he goes over to the dark side? Then he could have the combined powers of Luke Skywalker and himself, and would have been able to capture Leia and the unborn Anakin! Another note: the ship Eclipse was underplayed. Why didn't Veitch actually use it in combat?

Summary: The best SW comic ever, if that means much...
Review: This book reads like a fan wrote it. Rather than just zoom in on some incredibly miniscule aspect of the old SW movies and thus make as little impact on George Lucas' story as possible, this acts as the next chapter in the SW saga. They bring the Emperor back. This WOULD be awesome, if they didn't do it again in the two sequels to Dark Empire, which seriously cheapens Empire. This is a must read for all SW fans, but to tell the truth it really isn't that great. Mediocre story telling and questionable art is all you'll find here. Not that it matters, anyway. They brought the friggin Emperor back, dude! Just buy it, bite your lip, and read.

Summary: Dark Empire is Awesome!
Review: Dark empire is amazing!! This plot is well thought through with the reserected emperor and the world devestators.

Summary: ************************************************************
Review: The comic book is pretty good except for the fact that the author needs to take an english course, and they need to hire a new artist because the one they have doesn't draw realistic pictures. Other than that, I like it.
