Summary: Great book
Review: Excellent book. Never knew I'd like it. Every one at my school recommended it, so I read it. Very nice story. Also it was very nice how the story mixed largely with Viking Mythology. (No vikings, though. Viking never wore horn; a little fact just for your information.) The names Galndalf, Thorin, Bomber, and other of the Dwarves are real names of Dark Dwarfs in Viking mythology. Also Runes and such.

Summary: A great story and prequel to the Lord of the Rings
Review: Tolkien sets the stage for the Lord of the Rings with this tale of Bilbo Baggins and his adventure. A great tale from the master of fantasy. One will delight in the characters and history that Tolkien has created. From valiant characters like Gandalf and Thorin Oakenshield to villains like Smaug the Dragon and Gollum.

Don't read the Lord of the Rings without first reading this book. It sets the stage and gives you great information to read the trilogy. This is a great book to whet your Tolkien appetite with. Read and enjoy!

Summary: The Hobbit
Review: This has to be one of the best books I've ever read. But I've only read it about a hundred times so you might not want to take my word for it. You may just want to buy it and read it yourself. Also if you are sorta lazy you can get it on tape or buy the movie but those things never do a book justice.

Summary: Brilliant
Review: This book is brilliantly written. This has got to be the best book I have ever read. I would recomend this book to mostly everyone.

Summary: Better than the Lord of the Rings Trilogy.
Review: I've read this book twice, and it was just as good the 2nd time. I liked it even better than the lord of the trilogy. This is one of the best books i've ever read.

Summary: Only read this if you are a student.
Review: This is a great book, if you can follow what's going on. I am a student who has read the book separetly from school, twice, and I am angry that other students have written inadequate reviews. The first time I read this, when I was eight, I was not following and comprehending what I was reading and would simply scan over all the pages, so of course it was boring, but I knew that I wasn't paying attention, so I didn't think badly of it unlike the other students who have taken the liberty of writing their opinions to Amazon. The second time I read it, I payed attention while I was reading and enjoyed the book. For those students which have disgraced The Hobbit's average rating, if they they didn't pay attention or missed a day in class, the book would be boring when it shouldn't. If you had to read The Hobbit for accademic purposes, please do not display your opinion as it has probably been damaged by the educational process.

Summary: A Great Journey............
Review: "The Hobbit" would have to be one of the best books I have ever read. It is a definite five star book. This book is great for anyone with at least a 6th grade reading level. It is an adventure full of surprises with suspence around every corner. It starts with a great journey with the main character not knowing what lies in his path. The adventure is long and ends with a spectacular battle between three different races. I would highly suggest reading this book.

Summary: The Hobbit
Review: The Hobbit is the best book I have ever read.Everyword explains the action so clearly that you almost feel you are there. The best parts of the book are at the lake of Gollum, the house of Beorn, the lonely mountain and the return home. A fantastic book you say? Oh,yes. I have no rejections against that!

Summary: A fantastic read, even for non-fantasy fans!
Review: I read this book, having heard so much good being said about the Lord of the Rings, despite having dismissed the fantasy genre as kiddy reading. Besides the book is much thinner than the daunting thick volume of the latter! The book has all the ingredients of a sure winner, regardless of genres - humor, action and emotion. I loved it so much that I am actually now keen on reading the Lord of the Rings, thick volume and all. Count me in as a fantasy fan - this books has won me over!

Summary: Priceless Treasure
Review: Surely, it's been scientifically verified that anyone who gives The Hobbit (and the rest of the series) ONE measly star is, simply, wrong. Tolkien's Middle Earth is rich and perfectly self-contained. He never violates the parameters he establishes for this fantasy world, which he fills with memorable characters and intriquing plot turns. What great escapist literature! I only hope you students who've expressed disdain for this book will later reconsider, and give it another reading. I suspect the circumstances (required reading, homework assignments) may have had more to do with your negative regard for the book than any shortcoming in the storytelling. Consider the (almost) universal positive regard for Tolkien's work. Sometimes the hype is warranted.
