Summary: Join Bilbo Baggins on his adventure!
Review: A wonderful book! It is the story of how Bilbo Baggins the Hobbit (who loved the comfort of his hobbit-hole and never wanted an adventure) is transformed in character as he joins a band of dwarfs and a wizard to reclaim the dwarves' lost treasure. It sounds like a childrens' book, but it is for people of all ages. Tolkien makes magic with his pen, and for the time that you read the book, you are transported to a different world, a world filled with elves and magic, goblins, dwarfs, dragons and hobbits..and it is hard to put aside the book and return to everyday life. Fantasy at its best..

Summary: Ehhh...Its creative but lacks in anything worthwhile
Review: You know, I was so excited to finally read the "legendary" Hobbit. It turns out that it is a fantasy book for a 3rd grade reading level and a 1st grade imagination. After reading literary masterpieces by Robert Jordan, and Aurther C. Clark, books like these seem pointless. It lacks in character developement, keeping the readers interest, and anything that you would be able to reflect on. All in all this is a poor piece of literature and I hope dearly that the Lord Of The Rings is a lot better.

Summary: Great except for the ending.
Review: Great story leading up to the ending. The way Tolkien 'cheats' the reader out of the action at the end was very maddening to me. I wanted blood, darn it!!!!

Summary: An enthralling book for all ages.
Review: The Hobbit is a wonderful book. It is entertaining for all ages. I first read this book when I was eight and I still love it. My parents love this book too. It is very creative. For those who have started reading the book: Keep reading. The beginning is a little slow, but once they leave Bilbo's house it is wonderful. One of my favorite things about this book is that the villians are not SOOOOO SCARY. They are funny. If you liked Harry Potter you would love this book. This is one book I consider equal to Harry Potter even though it is a bit slow moving.

Summary: Awesome!
Review: The Hobbit is an imaginary fantasy world that takes you to adventures and beyond. J.R.R. Tolkien must be proud of the story that started The Lord of The Rings, without it The Lord of The Rings wouldn't be so popular. This book may be great, but the reason that I don't give it 5 starts is this: The way Tolkien writes like he's telling a story is very creative, but at some points gets just a little annoying. Reading the book may sometimes feel like your sitting in front of an old man telling a long fake story that he pretends to be real. Other than that this book is just plain AWESOME!

Summary: COOL and fascinating~~
Review: This is a story written by J.J.R. Toliken and it is a fantasy and classical book. But please read even it is Classic because it is humorous and fun to watch the little hobbit named Bilbo going around and making funs. Also this story is very simple worded and i sure could tell you that by just reading the first twenty pages. This book will make you turn pages and pages. It's fascinating and it's a part of the British literature. You will also find that this book is not the same as the other book because J.J.R Toliken had made such careful and intensive on this book, he created one whole new world with language, culture, calenders, etc. I am sure that it will help you because it have given such great influence about different methaphors. (p.s. this story has many poems and there are few old british words that are not found today)

Summary: One of the best books I have ever read!
Review: JRR Tolkien is one of the best books that I have ever read. It is a saga that is based in the Second Age of Middle Earth. If you are intending to read the Lord of the Rings triligy I would highly recommend reading the Hobbit first. The story is based around a hobbit. What is a hobbit you may ask, they are half in height as us and have furry toes(neatly brushed).

Summary: How do you improve a timeless classic?
Review: Add illustrations by Alan Lee, co-illustrator of Faeries with Brian Froud. Truly stunning artwork. With this first edition including Lee's artwork, one should buy the volume for the collectibility value alone. Unforgetable artwork to accompany an unforgetable story of an unlikely hero!

Summary: FORGET IT!
Review: Unfortunately, I was subjected to read the first twenty or so pages of this book because I got it as a christmas present from my aunty. Not only that, I also received a compendium with the rotten book, which was of no use to me as I was not planning on ever reading it. Feel free to email me if you want this huge waste of time for free, though I strongly recomend you don't! This is a dangerous book and is an extremely bad influence on adolescents. Not only that, it is also more boring than having tea with nan and the relatives.

DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, READ THIS BOOK!
