Summary: Wow! What an Adventure
Review: "The Hobbit" to me was one of the best books I have ever read. It is one of the most exciting and interesting books I have seen. You start off in a hobbits little hole. The only thing about this hobbit is that he is very organized and likes things his way. But with an unusual visit he is set off on the biggest adventure of his life. He sees dwarfs, dragons, elves and many other things out of the ordinary. And I think it is a great introduction into the life-thrilling books of the "Lord of the Rings!" I would say that if anyone likes adventure, surprises, and excitement they should read this book. I think they would soon jump into the great excitement and feel the same way as I do!

Summary: Visit the beginning
Review: J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit is the beginning of the stories of that race of halflings which is continued in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. It begins when Galdalf the Grey visits Bilbo Baggins' home, Bag End, followed within minutes by a company of dwarves. Surprised to find that they have come to include him in their trek to the lair of Smaug, a dangerous dragon, Bilbo at first declines the honor. After all, Hobbits never go on adventures.However, Gandalf has chosen well. Bilbo at last agrees to accompany the dwarves, in itself a most unusual circumstance. But it is not an easy trek they have chosen to undertake. Thirst, starvation, capture, and death await them at every turn. The most dangerous item encountered, however, is a simple gold ring which has not seen the light of day for many years. What will be the price if Bilbo liberates the ring? With The Lord of the Rings movies now being released, this is a wonderful time to revisit the beginning of the Baggins family adventures. For those who have never read Tolkien, his style may be difficult at first. The difficulty of the names may seem daunting. But once readers begin, these will not seem to be barriers. And, like most of those who have read and loved the Hobbits, they will return again and again. All fantasy readers should enjoy both The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, as they were the stories on which much modern fantasy is based. There are also numerous books, such as bestiaries and encyclopedias, which add to the experience.

Summary: J.R.R. Tolkien: Literary Genius
Review: In my opinion, there is only one other book that surpasses The Hobbit, and that is The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (which Tolkien originally wrote as one book). J.R.R. Tolkien was without a doubt a true literary genius. The Hobbit sets the stage for the magnificent trilogy which follows, but it is a fine work which stands on its own. Tolkien's vivid imagination transports one to a land whose inhabitants include dwarfs, elves, trolls, dragons and other familiar fairy tale creatures, but these are not the elves and dwarfs of Grimm and Hans Christian Anderson. These are REAL beings which are believable. No tiny elves that flit about here; these are the ancient ones, the healers, the wise ones of Middle Earth, the immortals. They are tall, elegant and powerful beings to respect, and indeed sometimes fear.
As for the wizards...Gandalf the Grey is no mere human, but a powerful being sent from above to help the inhabitants of Middle Earth, in this case a Hobbit, an unusual creature one cannot help but love from the start. Hobbits love life; they love to eat, love companionship and a warm hearth. They are the kind of folk one is drawn to, and relates to...a homey kind of people who till the soil and tend their gardens. One can almost smell the hot bread steaming fresh from the ovens. I found the Hobbit back in the mid-sixties and have been an avid Tolkien fan ever since. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes adventure, suspense, wit and humor. It is no mere childs tale...this one is for all ages to enjoy!

Review: If you want an action packed ride then take a trip into the mind of J.R R. Tolkien and the land of Middle Earth but beware of evil like orcs, dragons, goblins, and Belroc a demon from another world. Not only are these things deadly but the land itself can also be filled with traps and other twists and turns. But fear not, for there are people who try to defend Middle Earth from such things, such as the elves of Elrond, dwarves of Morlia and other men of Middle Earth. Take the trip with a little hobbit name Bilbo Baggins and read about all this and more adventures in The Hobbit by J.R Tolkien.

Review: If you like action and adventure then get ready to jump into the world of middle earth, (but middle earth is infested with evil things) like,orcs,dragons,goblins,and Belroc a demon from the anchint world. But not just the creatures are dangourus the land can be deadly also. filled with traps and other twists and turns to make you lost in the dark. But there are good things to who defend the people of evil like the elves of elrond the dwarves of morlia and the men of middle earth.

Summary: The Hobbit
Review: I really did not like this book. There wasn't much interest in it and I did not enjoy this kind of book. There was only one part that was actually good. That was when 13 dwarves came to the service of
Bilbo Baggins. Then they tell him he needs to go on an adventure. In this adventure he will face a fierce dragon. He then sees goblins but I can't tell you all of the book so you will have to read it.

Summary: A geat story
Review: A prelude to "The Lord of The Rings". Although this book is geared towards younger readers, people of any age would enjoy this one. The tale of how the One Ring came into the possession of the Hobbits. Bilbo's first encounter with Dragons, Dwarves, Gandalf and Gollum. It's an enjoyable journey from beginning to end.

Review: My introduction to the world of J.R.R. Tolkien 5 years ago, "The Hobbit" is magical tale that will delight audiences of all ages. It is a classic, relatively easy to read, fantasy tale by the author who helped to define fantasy writing for modern times. Telling a story of how one small individual makes a BIG (especially in view of the "Lord of the Rings") impact on the world, this story is an inspiration as well as a captivating story. I recommend it for threefold reasons:
1)It is an excellent fantasy story
2)It is an inspirational story
3)It is a great way to become acquainted with the work of the master fantasy writer, J.R.R. Tolkien

Summary: An amazing novel
Review: I just finished reading The Hobbit for the first time in several years and was surprised by it. This novel reads much easier than Tolkien's later books. For anyone who hasn't read Tolkien before and has become interested, the Hobbit is a wonderful place to start. Besides being one of the shortest novels, it also predates The Lord of the Rings, making it chronologically the novel to begin with. The Hobbit is the story of Bilbo Baggins. Bilbo is a hobbit who goes and a grand adventure. Unfortunately, hobbits do not like adventures and Bilbo takes a while becoming comfortable with the situation. The novel takes place predominantly in three parts. Tolkien develops his plot over the first part of the novel as the Dwarves, Gandalf, and Bilbo travel to the Misty Mountains. The second part deals with the adventures reaching the dragon. And, the third part deals with confrontation of the dragon. For novels this size, The Hobbit has more detail and plot than any self contained novel I have read. But, I am decidedly biased in favor of Tolkien. I have read all of his novels at least twice. The open a world full of tragedy and heros. The greatest of his work he never published. However, the Hobbit is the first and inspiration for the Lord of the Rings. Tolkien was a great author, and in writing the Hobbit wrote a novel that can be enjoyed by all ages.
