Summary: Tom is right, 5 stars is NOT enough!
Review: Remember how excited you were when you saw Star Wars for the very first time? Remember how blown away you were by the special effects and the story line? The story of Nausicaa will rekindle these feelings 10 fold. The scope of this work is fantastic and thought provoking, and would make anyone feel guilty for trying to lump it in the same genre as Superman. I recommend this story to anyone that has found this page intentionally or by accident. No matter what your taste is, You will love this story. It is (dare i say it?) the BIBLE of graphic novels.

Summary: Nausicaa is the most stunning graphic work ever!
Review: There may be a million different opinions of what makes Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind so special, but for me the true moment when I fell under Miyazaki's spell is the cavalry charge depicted in Vol. 2 of the Perfect edition. Text and art came together in perfect harmony and completely swept me away. I've never had the same experience from any other manga, book, or film. Highest recommendations!

Summary: Nausicaa is a must read for all
Review: You don't have to be a fan of comics to love Nausicaa. In fact Nausicaa is the first one I've ever read (at the age of 19). The world Mr. Miyazaki has created is one of the most complete fiction worlds ever realized by an author. Mr. Miyazaki then goes onto to create beautiful characters for his world. As if this wasn't enough the story really stops you dead in your tracks as you begin to think what all of twists and turns really mean. Our views of all the characters change with time, even Nausicaa. Perhaps the most rousing compliment I can give is I was sad when it was over. I wanted the story to go on and the characters to continue their lives. Do yourself a favor and go buy these books, and Mr. Miyazaki's work deserves to be called books.

Summary: 10 Stars out of a possible 5! The Greatest Thing Ever!
Review: Forget the Great Wall of China, the Pyramids, the Space Shuttle... Nausicaa is the final word, the ultimate in human ambition and creativity. Never before have I been so touched by anything! The 13 years it took Miyazaki to finish this project make the 10 hours it takes for a complete read almost seem like an injustice. But, it is nigh impossible to read it only once. Miyazaki's vision of the earth ruined by pollution and war is simply incredible. Magic, reincarnation, monstrous insects - the stuff of fantasy, yet presented here in a way that seems much more tangible than even everyday life. And in the midst of it all is one small girl who has a heart and spirit that remains pure, even amidst the corruption of earth and the human soul. There are simply not enough superlatives in the English language to describe these books. Buy them today, and better yourself tomorrow!

Summary: Simply beautiful
Review: Simply beautiful, a beautiful story, beautifully told and beautifully drawn. Its a kind of story that makes you want to get up and dance for joy. The characters are amazing, their interaction is fanatastic, their development is without parallel, you will read these books (all four) many, many times. In many books you know the character is always making the correct choice, in these books you and the characters are never sure. If you have seen the movie or not, read these books, the movie does not come close, by any stretch of the imagination, to what these books achieve. The detail and emotion the drawings have are incredible. A pure, unbridled masterpiece. You may think me exagerrating here, but I have read many, many books and none have come close to the joy and happiness these four books can give. Buy it, for you will not regret it.

Summary: A whopping good read
Review: The drawing is superb, the story is complicated and well thought out. And Nausicaa is one the great female heroines.

Summary: A fantastic story & one of the greatest graphic novels.
Review: It is a rare story that combines philosophical discussions on the nature of man, complex characterizations, and rousing science fiction adventure. Engaging for both first comers and fans of the genre. It doesn't hurt that it's from the master Miyazaki.

Summary: Storytelling at its best. I couldn't put it down.
Review: I honestly didn't put it down once I began reading it. And having read through the 3rd installment of the Perfect Collection I instantly wanted to get the 4th. This is not just a comic book/manga for kids. It's a unique story that just pulls you in. All the characters are intriguing, especially Nausicaa, the heroin. Miyazaki has created a world of such intricacy that you can't help but get involved. You want to know more about all the creatures that inhabit that world and what their fate is. I've been a fan of Miyazaki since I picked up a copy of My Neighbor Totoro and would recommend the movie/anime for kids. But Nausicaa is definately for adults.

Summary: A great piece of literature, not just a comic.
Review: It's too bad that many people who would appreciate Nausicaa's great story will never see/read it because of it's niche 'manga' status. I love to give people who do not know, care, or generally scorn comics or manga/anime this book. It's very interesting to see their reaction.

I am surprised by the number of people who have seen (and loved) the film who do not bother to read the manga. While it borrows many specific parts from the manga (and sometimes shifts its around a bit), the movie is almost a 'side-story' to the manga. The movie s great, and is a must-see (lets hope Disney re-releases it), but it doesn't even come close to the greatness of the manga.

The artwork is just as impressive as the story. Miyazaki managed to fit a lot of action in the panels, while still maintaining visual coherance. Other creators, like CLAMP, tend to get carried away to the point where it's hard to make out what is going on.

I cannot say enough good things about this graphic novel. Miyazaki has managed to inspire me as both a writer and an artist. If you're unfarmilliar with anime/manga, take a chance on this book. And if you're not, be sure to loan this book to someone who isn't, because I'm sure they will appreciate it!

Summary: The All-Time BEST manga
Review: Where do I start? I'll try this... Nausicaa of The Valley of Wind is absolutely the best manga ever created! It is the epitome of what manga, literature even, should be. For those who recognize it as the same story seen in "Warriors of The Wind", the horribly mutilated translation of the anime version of Nausicaa, all I can say is that "WOTW" is a travesty to the story displayed in this graphic novel. For those who have seen some of the works by Mr. Hayao Miyazaki (Kiki's Delivery Service, My Neighbor Totoro, Mononoke Hime), Know now that Nausicaa is his greatest achievement. This story deserves to be recognized by the public as one of the greatest works of storytelling ever created. I will not spoil the story for you, but believe me, it will not dissappoint. Enemies become friends, friends become enemies, plot twists abound and some of the most likable (and lovably despicable) characters in the literary world. I haven't even gone into the artwork. Miyazaki is an accomplished artist, with extraordinary skill and talent. It shows in this masterpiece. Wonderful character designs and the use of art and look to help tell the story can be spotted. When reading, realize that one can recognize a character in disguise by examining the way the character stands, holds him/herself, and talks. I have never seen that before in a manga. Imagine the characters not as drawings, but actors upon a magnificent and beautifully crafted stage. In ending, this manga deserves not just 5 stars, but all the stars in the heavens above.
