Summary: Kooky stuff
Review: Great little poems beautifully illustrated. For fans of Tim Burton's "Oysterboy" book. Roman Dirge is a strange one.

Summary: i just dont get it
Review: I dont understand why people find Roman Dirge funny, or particularly artistically inclined.

i picked up dirge's books ONLY bc Vasquez advertised him to the extent that I thought him to be a Vasquez pen name/creation..(Roman Dirge, IS a rather clever pen name) but reading the work and viewing the art proves that this definetly isnt the case.

Roman Dirge just lacks as a comic writer all around.

i wouldnt spend money on this again, and more I wish I hadnt in the first place.

Summary: Just when you thought it was safe to read poems again!
Review: I love this book. It has the greatest art work, and the poems are the funniest yet. Very good for people who have a dark type of humor (and admit it, everyone does deep down.) 5 stars aren't enough to describe the zanny poems and illustrations. Also good, is his comic series 'Lenore', which I highly suggest for anyone who liked this book.

Review: Rarely do I find an author and artist who so appeals to my twisted sense of humor, with beautiful lush artwork as well! five stars. Check it out!

Summary: Your not Silverstein Mr. Dirge.
Review: Roman Dirge has never impressed me as a writer or artist. I always try to keep the hope of evolving in my mind when I read any latest work of a writer, I think I am to keep on hoping for Mr. Dirge. Dirge has been a popular cult figure in the "dark comics" scene. This work is hardly a comic as it is more a short story book. Let me stress the short part of that statement. There is really nothing much here to read. The entire book can consume a good 5 to 10 minutes of your time. I found looking for the hidden pigs more entertaining then reading it. I also feel Roman Dirge tries to play himself off as a modern Shel Silverstein and hopefully the only person convinced he is good at it is himself and his mindless drone followers. While it has always been popular to attack subculture icons because it makes such easy criticism, I feel justified in my statements because this work lacks any artistic merit and it simply doesn't deliver for the price. Sorry Dirge maybe next time.

Summary: Fantasteratic poems!!!
Review: Roman Dirge is the daddy of all dark humor! I love him and his wonderful dark humor and increadable drawings. This is the 3rd book i bought by Roman. His work just gets better with every book her writes. The Poems are the most wonderful i have ever read. yay! Keep em coming Roman!!!

Summary: Timeless tales, silly portraits, all pretty tragic...
Review: Roman Dirge puts out a memorable collection of childish poems accompanied with good artwork. The language rings well with the pictures that are drawn in a very Dirge-distinct style, all on a grand spooky scale. What comes to mind is Shel Silverstein meets Edward Gorey meets the Simpsons meets Lane Smith. I recommend this little book for anyone, any age, with a bent for creepy-cute stuff.
