Summary: The Essential Guide to one of the best daily strips
Review: "For Better or For Worse" is not a typical comic strip; the characters get older, some die, some get new friends; it is an ongoing saga about life. Lynn's work can be outrageously funny, sad and, as some other reviewers have pointed out, schmaltzy.

I have tried to read the strip every day since I first discovered it (twenty years ago). I can't guarantee a belly laugh every day, but you will think about the characters and worry about them. This is the difference between FBOFW and other strips - who cares about Dilbert or BC?

Even with my long history with the strip, this introduction to the characters was perfect to reflect on what has happened and who all the characters (some of whom don't show up for months on end). In the book Lynn says she has more story lines than panels to hold them - let's hope this is true for a very long time.

Summary: The title pretty much says it all
Review: "The Lives Behind the Lines" is a book that will give a For Better for For Worse fan a perspective of the Pattersons and their friends that hasn't been told in the strip itself. It tells thorough stories about them and stuff that you didn't even know about before! Perfect for any fan... and to those new to the strip so that they know who's who.

Summary: Much more than the usual comic collection
Review: A funny thing happens to regular readers of For Better or For Worse...they start to care about the characters. There have been storylines that had me checking the strip every day just to make sure everyone was ok. There have been some that made my eyes well up; Farley's death, of course, but also Lawrence's coming out, Elly's mother's death, Michael's realization of his love for Deanna, Gordon's bravery in overcoming his lousy parentage to build a loving family of his own.

This is for all of you who care about the Pattersons -- a peek into what else Lynn Johnston knows about the character's lives (a lot!) and where their stories come from. It's not the usual collection of strips; it's something more.

Summary: For Better or For Worse
Review: Ever since i can remember I've grown up with For Better or For Worse. I can't even remember when exactly I started reading Lynn Johnson's strips. For her comics to be so real and so down to earth makes her truly the most unique and exhilirating author to read. In my opinion, the only comic strip truly worth reading. Her strips have absolutely no limitations, and absolutely no fears. The Pattersons are truly the family next door, families throughout Canada (and America) realize, that yes, they are normal! Growing up with this comic was a joy. I love this comic, and I hope she writes for years to come. Oh yes, I love her attitude, I started laughing at those who thought Michael actually went to London, England! It was even a greater joy to have met Lynn Johnson .

Summary: Wonderful!!
Review: For anyone who wants to know where, when, how, and WHY, this is the book for you. It covers everything a fan would like to know. I enjoyed every page and love the drawings that accent this account. It is divided into sections, so you can read the entire history of just about any character that has shown up in For Better or For Worse. It also adds a little history about John and Elly, how they met and where they lived as newlyweds. A great addition to your personal library, a reader will find themselves picking it up over and over.

Summary: Great overview of the Patterson family
Review: I bought this book and I have to say it was well worth the $15 that I paid for it. I opened the book when I was in the car and I didn't want to stop reading. I loved reading the parts about how John and Elly met and even seeing what their first apartment looked liked. I also liked reading the strips that were featured and seeing how much the characters changed physically over the years(from beady black eyes to a white circle with a black dot in the middle).

I also liked learning about the families that I had never knew exsited, like the family with two boys and the daughter with the minor deformity. It was sad to see that those families aren't part of the family for now, but might be in the future(one of them could end up being Elizabeth's future husband).

And how could I forget the ones that are there now, like the Enjo's, Connie, and Gordo? I was surprised to learn that Connie was in one too many bad relationships and that Candace is the way she is because of sexual abuse at the hands of a relative. Very interesting stuff.

To end, this is the perfect book to get if you are really interested in the background of the strip and getting to know the characters(major and minor). You will not be disappointed!

Summary: Great!
Review: I love the realism, the believable stories and the delightful characters, save for April. She has a fresh mouth and gets away with murder. If any kids I know talk to an adult like April, they would be in real trouble. April makes Dennis the Menace look like a chior boy. I don't like what she does, like pull off the wallpaper, pee in the rabbit box and let the rabbit mess her sister's bed. Lucky Liz doesn't have to put up with April any more. I don't like the way April always got her in trouble and I don't like her princess ways. I think she is spoiled rotten. She provokes Jeremy and I really think she askes for it. EVen though I don't like bully behavior, I think Jeremy is justified. April and her mean spirited song would send even the most tolerant person up a tree. I think she is such a brat.

I love the bunny rabbit! He is so funny, the way he chases the dog. I'd love to see a rabbit chase a dog. Keep up the good work and may April get whats coming to her one of these days -- come uppance.
