Summary: A Simpsons smorgasbord!
Review: "The Simpsons" has consistently distinguished itself as one of the most intelligently written comedies on television. This book is a gloriously detailed guide to the series' first eight seasons.

Each individual episode gets a full page (in some cases, two pages) which contains a plot summary, full-color scenes, memorable lines of dialogue, writing/directing credits and other appetizing tidbits. The book's many supplemental sections include a complete "Itchy and Scratchy" filmography, a collection of Krusty the Clown merchandise, and a guide to the original Simpsons short films.

As ambitious and successful as this book is, there are some omissions. I would have liked to have seen photos and short bios of each of the main cast members who bring these characters to life. Some perspective on the show's impact upon pop culture would also have been welcome.

These criticisms aside, this is a wonderfully funny and informative book. From the secret ingredient in the "Flaming Moe" to the lyrics of "The Stonecutters' Song," this book is packed with delights and surprises. If you are a casual "Simpsons" fan, this book may turn you into an obsessed fanatic; if you are already such a fanatic, you will be in heaven.

Summary: A must have for Simpson fans
Review: It is hard pressed to find anyone who does not like the animated series "The Simpsons". "The Simpsons" is one of the longest running tv series and one of the funniest tv series in history. Unfortunately the last few seasons have been rather inconsistent and lacks the creativity and magic of the earlier episodes, nevertheless the show is a lot smarter and cutting edge than most tv series nowadays. Thank heavens I can relieve the earlier episodes with this official guide to the popular tv series. "The Simpsons: a complete guide to our favorite family" covers the first eight seasons. This is a really excellent comprehensive guide to the show. As a big fan of the first several seasons, I love this book. I loved reading all of the couch gags from the first eight seasons. I didn't realize there was so many until I read them all. I also dug reading the highlights of each episode. I also loved reading the brief bios on the lesser known but equally funny characters like Cletus, Tattoo Annie, and Lionel Hutz. There is a great list of the actors and the cbaracters that they give life to. If you love "The Simpsons" and the first eight seasons, this book is a must have. It is a true testament to Matt Groening as well as the legacy of the show.

Summary: A Must Have for all Simpsons Fans
Review: This guide covers the first eight seasons and it is amazing. The illustrations as well as the descriptions of the episodes are great. Even the most faithful of fans will most likely learn from the "the stuff you might have missed" box that is included with each episode. This is definitely a great gift for every Simpsons lover.

Summary: The Best Seasons
Review: Nowadays, the long-lasting show, The Simpsons is coming to an end in the imagination department. They're slowly running out of ideas. That does not means Simpsons stinks. The Simpsons is one of the best TV shows ever made, right up there with Futurama. This book has a detailed guide to every episode from Season 1 to 8. Here's some of these season's highlights:
Simpsons Roasting Over An Open Fire: Marge has to use all of the Christmas money to remove a tattoo Bart got. She depends on Homer to get bonuses at work. He has none and Homer gets a job as a mall Santa. When he gets a puny $13, he bets at a dog race. The dog he bets on gets last and his owner kicks him out. Homer and Bart keep him. The first episode.
Treehouse of Horror 1-7: Great parodies from (just to name a few) The Shining, The Raven, King Kong and many from The Twilight Zone.
Two Cars in Every Garage and Three Eyes on Every Fish: Bart and Lisa find a three-eyed fish and name it Blinky.
Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?: The episode that introduces Herb Powell, Homer's long lost brother.
Radio Bart: Bart tosses a radio in a well and with a microphone he got, pretends to be Timmy O'Toole.
Kamp Krusty: Bart and Lisa go to a crummy camp.
Mr. Plow: Barney and Homer both get snow plows during a snowstorm and compete for business.
Marge vs. The Monorail: Lyle Lanley convinces Springfield to get a monorail.
Krusty Gets Kancelled: The Krusty the Clown Show goes out of business because of a puppet named Gabbo.
Deep Space Homer: Homer goes into space and makes an inanimate carbon rod famous.
Itchy and Scratchy Land: A theme park called Itchy and Scratchy Land opens.
Lisa on Ice: Lisa and Bart play for different hockey teams and play each other.
Homer the Great: Homer joins a club called the Stonecutters.
Bart vs. Australia: After a $900 prank call to Australia, the family goes to Australia.
Who Shot Mr. Burns?: Mr. Burns gets shot and people try to figure out the mystery of how and who did it. 2 episodes.
King-Size Homer: Homer becomes 300 pounds so he's considered disabled and can work at home.
Team Homer: Homer joins a bowling team with Moe, Apu and Mr. Burns.
22 Short Films About Springfield: 22 short films about Springfield.
A Milhouse Divided: Milhouse's mom and dad get divorced.
El Viaje Misterioso De Nuestro Jomer (The Mysterious Voyage of Homer): After eating peppers from Quetzlzacatenango, Homer has a strange dream.
The Springfield Files: Homer thinks he saw an alien.
Supercalifragilisticexpiala(d'oh)cious: Marge gets stressed and hires a babysitter named Shary Bobbins.
The Itchy and Scratchy and Poochie Show: Homer voices a dog named Poochie in The Itchy and Scratchy Show.
In Marge We Trus: Homer finds a box of Mr. Sparkle soap that has his face on it.
Homer's Enemy: A new person named Frank Grimes works at the power plant. One of the best episodes ever.
The Simpsons Spin-Off Showcase: Spin-offs with your favorite Springfield characters.
Also, included in the book are Homer's D'ohs! and Mmms!, lists of the Tracey Ullman Show shorts, Itchy and Scratchy Filmography, cast lists, signs around Springfield, Krusty merchandise and the couch gags. All of the episodes above and more are detailed like no one can imagine and have a list of Stuff You May Have Missed. Perfect for any Simpsons fan.
