Review: This book is really cool the art is excellent ! the characters are very nice by the way this was made by clamp the creators of cardcaptor sakura ! magic knight rayearth was translated by mixx which is the worst translators in...!!! they americanized it and made things more slangy ..............oh well at least we have MKR ! i havent seen the anime but i heard that it`s cool. buy this book now people !!

Summary: One of the best ever!!!!!!!!
Review: Most of the reviews talk about how the art is great, but the storyline is a little immature, but I think it's great. I love the whole female warrior thing, and the art is terrific. MKR is one of my alltime favorite anime/manga. I would also reccomend Sailor Moon and Card Captor Sakura.

Summary: A bit disappointing . . . but the artwork is gorgeous
Review: Honestly, I was a little disappointed when I got MKR. I think it was mainly because the translation wasn't that great. I noticed Cephiro was spelled two different ways. I dunno. The story itself seems promising, but it didn't have that extra 'umph' that made me seek out the next volume. I gave MKR 4 stars mainly because of the artwork. CLAMP's artwork is both beautiful and unique, so that alone gets 2 stars, the story gets 1, and the extra star goes to Mokona for being so kawaii!! ^__^ I personally like Card Captor Sakura and X/1999 better,(the X/Zero Collection artbook is...gothically beautiful) but, y'know, whatever floats your boat...

Summary: Delicious
Review: Magic Knight Rayearth is done by the popular manga group CLAMP (also the group behind Cardcaptor Sakura, Clover, X/1999, and others). Rayearth combines elements of two popular genres in anime and manga: a magical girl story, and giant mecha type things beating the snot out of each other. All in all, very yummy.

CLAMP is known for their beautiful, detailed artwork, and Rayearth falls under these standards. The story and artwork blend to form a delightful read that matches Sailor Moon (Naoko Takeuchi) in creativity.

Rayearth centers around a group of three junior high school girls (Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu) transported to another realm to help save the princess, Emeraude, and the land Cephiro. To do so, they must awaken three legendary spirits to help them fight Zagato, who kidnapped the princess.

If you like any of the elements or any of CLAMP's other manga, I suggest you pick this up. You won't be disappointed!

P.s: CLAMP is god!

Summary: Beautiful art, good world, but need first two
Review: (This review is for vol. 1)

All of the other reviews, plus the previews, give good synopses of the book itself so I'll just go into my review of it. The first manga is, as is often the case, the "introductory"-sort of volume; everyone is introduced, we get general characteristics of the main characters, etc. Therefore you really don't get into the meat of the story in volume 1. I do have to say that I liked, no LOVED, the artwork; a few people here said Clamp went too far with its big-eyed, over-cute characters but I really love this artwork! As it's my first Clamp manga, I have to say I could get into this kind of artwork. :)

I think my biggest gripe with the story as a whole is that it's a slightly overused plotline. Three girls from different schools (all with prep school uniforms) happen to go on a field trip to Tokyo Tower and are sucked into the world by the protector of the fantasy world Cephiro. It reminds me a bit of Dungeons and Dragons, and is an overused plot device. The girls themselves, all approximately 14, are Sailor Moon-like characters, really ditzy and young.

Unfortunately, as I've only read this the first volume (vol 2 is on it's way; I've heard good things about it and want to give it a try) I have no way of knowing how the storyline progresses beyond this book. But I would suggest that, if you have the funds, you buy the first two volumes together so you can get more out of it. I found that I really enjoyed the budding friendship/possible-romance by two of the characters (it's too early to tell), and want to read more about it, but as this just introduced them, and with very little action...

Overall, great artwork, overused plot device (the whole "another world" thing) - why then did I give it 4 stars? Because, despite all this, I've found myself rereading it ever since I got it. It's actually pretty good, but I can't wait to get the next manga because hopefully I'll be able to get into the world a bit more. :-)

Summary: Nice....
Review: yes.. quite nice... beautiful art, though i must say, i dont like those little mini people with the pointed feet... but thats just personal preference. this is the first book in the series, so its a bit boring... they have to get it started somewhere! they also have to intorduce alla the characters wich is *snore* boring, but necessary. the pictures though r beautiful and i cant wait to get the 2nd one so i know what happenes!!!!

Summary: The Best! Honest!
Review: This was my first manga, and, while that info doesn't mean anything to you, it made me a hard-core anime/manga fan. Previously, I had stuck to the televised stories (i.e. Sailor Moon, Gundam, ect.) but this has allowed me to realize that these shows aren't the only ones out there! The amazing art and magical storyline screams "read me" a thousand times over! It's about three strangers, Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu, who are drawn into the world of Cephero by a person called a Pillar. This Pillar maintains peace in her world through prayer and wishes. The reason these three girls were called into this world was because the Pillar was captured, leaving Cephero in utter turmoil, with monsters everywhere. The only way to save Cephero is to rescue the Pillar, but the enemy who captured her is formidable... can Hikaru, Fuu, and Umi save her and return home? Will they be able to become the mystical Magic Knights? Guess what you get to do to find out!

Summary: Magic Knight Rayearth is a very good manga, overall...
Review: I loved this manga! I'll admit it, this is my first manga, but I think it has gotten me hooked. The plot isn't much, granted, but when you have the beautiful artwork that Clamp puts out, it is almost secondary. I love the humor that they put in nearly every place. Whenever it gets too serious, they tone it down a bit with humor. I'd recommend this to any serious manga fan and to anyone new to anime and manga who would like a place to start. I would recommend the entire series.
