Summary: Had me in suspense!!!
Review: If you're a die hard Star Wars fan, you gotta read this Trilogy.
All 3 books are excellent, and I recommend listening to some John Williams in the background (Imperial March) because you see the rise of the Empire again.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: What all Star Wars should be
Review: This book (and all of Timothy Zahn's) exemplify the best in Star Wars and some of the best in literature. The prose flows well, the characters are believable, and the plot is intriguing.

Summary: Thrawn is awesome
Review: I felt this volume of the trilogy really developed the genious of Grand Admiral Thrawn. Zahn's multi-plot development reflects that of the stories told through the original films. I really like the ysalamiri's role in these stories--who would have thought of a place the Force could not exist?

This book was wonderful!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Once again, a great read
Review: This is the second book in the trilogy. I actually liked it better than the first. I won't complain about the ysalimari in this review since I did it in my review of the first book.

The main story is the same here as it was for the first book, Grand Admiral Thrawn tries to gain strength for the empire and rule the galaxy. But to do that he needs people and ships. In this book we find out how he is working to obtain both. When a fleet of lost ships is discovered, the New Republic needs to get their hands on them before the Empire does. The story unfolds as the characters we love are looking for the people who can help them get to the ships.

There are other story lines developed as well. This is just great story telling.

Summary: A Great Continuation...
Review: Timothy Zahn, Star Wars: Dark Force Rising, is an excellent example of how a novel or series of novels should be continued. With a great plot and storyline, any avid Star Wars fan ought to read this novel!
The novel opens with the Empire's dark leader, Grand Admiral Thrawn, launching a massive attack on a primary port for the Rebellion. The action and adventure begin right there and then. Through the writing style of Zahn and the dialog of the characters, one feels as though they are right there along with Luke Skywalker! The author presents this novel with great depiction of scenery and detail. This is through Zahn's careful research of technological advancements and study of Lukasfilm's, StarWars. He, the author, never lacks in constant action and dialog.
It is though Timothy Zahn has created a masterpiece of Star Wars novels. Through his series of the Star Wars novels, he shows precise distinction from any other series of Star Wars epics or novels. I am thoroughly impressed by his accurate depiction of former characters in the movies presented by Lucasfilms. He has obviously done his research and taken his time to bring a great series to life.
As long as readers find that they love Star Wars and the thrills and excitement that come along with these action-packed stories, then, I think, Timothy Zahn will have a job for decades to come. No other author has accurately depicted the close encounter scenes with Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Leah Organa Solo as well as Mr. Zahn has.
For all you people out there who are debating reading this novel, your debating period is now over. This story will stay in your mind for years to come! Due to its incredible plot and accurate depiction of the Star Wars saga, Timothy Zahn, has only yet to conclude this three book series.

Summary: An Improvement Over Heir To The Empire
Review: I picked this book up because I wanted to see how the cliffhanger of the first book (Heir To The Empire) ended. After being quite disappointed with Heir, I must say this book is a great improvement to the Thrawn Trilogy.

My main problem with the first book--Zahn's writing style--isn't as bad as it is in this book. He does use "the other" to refer to another character in numerous places, but it's not as monotonous and annoying as in Heir.

The story gets more engaging and interesting in this book as well. Mara Jade in Heir seemed a bit off in places, and I didn't really care for her as much; in this book she's more developed and I can see now why some Star Wars fans like her character so much.

Thrawn's interaction with his captain, Pallaeon, are still the best parts of the book. Their dialogue and responses have a rhythm to them that you don't find in villain characters.

The only part of the book I thought was lacking was in Leia's arc. I quickly got bored hearing about the Noghri, and the storyline didn't seem to go anywhere. Hopefully the final book (The Last Command) will show a reason for this arc.

Overall, I liked this book much more than Heir To The Empire. I'll pick up the last book to see how the cliffhanger of this one is resolved.

Summary: A Review About Star Wars Dark Force Rising
Review: Star Wars Dark Force Rising is the sequel to Star Wars Heir to the Empire. Grand Admiral Thrawn is trying to find Karrde and the Katana Fleet. While Leia and Kabarahk go to Honoghr to get the other Noghri to get them to join the New Republic. Luke also goes to Jomark to find Jedi master Joruus C' Baoth.
Dark Force Rising is an excellent book. I recomend it for every Star Wars fan. It's great!

Summary: The greatness continues...
Review: Again, I have a tendency to buy on impulse. As well, when impressed, I usually snag everything by an author that I can get my hands on. Zahn impressed me with Heir to the Empire, and so I raided a local bookstore and bought all of the related books the day I finished the first one.
Didn't regret it a bit. Dark Force Rising continues the tale begun in Heir, and runs with it. From narrow escapes to fighting to tactical genius (Thrawn is just amazing...), this book stays right in line with the first one. A cliffhanger ending also leaves you ready for the third book (I was prepared, thank the gods), and I was intensely pleased with the results.
If you liked Heir to the Empire, The Krytos Plague or Iron Fist, you'll probably love Dark Force Rising.

Summary: This trilogy sets the standard!
Review: Heir to the Empire, Dark force Rising, The Last Command

The Good:
The idea of a grand admiral in control of the emperor's legacy is brilliant.
An insane dark jedi, clone soldiers, a coalition of smugglers, jedi twins and on and on goes Mr Zahn. Adventure, ha, Excitement, ha, a reader cares about these things!!

The Bad:
Absolutely noting.

Conclusion:
This trilogy sets the standard for all other writers. It is that good! Thank you Mr. Zahn

Summary: Good story, but read the novels first
Review: For starters, I read the novel version of this Star Wars story prior to the graphic novel when I was still in college. Fortunately, it's safe to say that I wasn't disappointed in any way. SW: Dark Force Rising was one of my favorite books in the SW mythos and it still is up to now. It features the classic SW characters fans have loved throughout the years of their existence. The book also features some of the really cunning newcomers, which rival that of Darth Vader's infamous exploits. Although I'm sure right now there are better books out there (i.e., Shadows of the Empire, Episode I: Phantom Menace, etc.) Dark Force Rising is an exceptional read and serves as the best intermediary book in Timothy Zahn's Star Wars trilogy.

I admit the Dark Horse Comics adaptation have some faults in them that tends to 'lessen' the depth and impact of the characters as well as put to vagueness the tactical intelligence of the villains originally depicted in the novels, but we can't squarely put the blame on the creative team's shoulders. I know they did their best to cram 400-plus pages of written material into a 144-page graphic album format. In fact they did quite an impressive job despite certain art flaws and story sequence gaps. Dark Horse has managed to give itself some of the much needed credit by telling a very good story for readers (average and avid alike) to be permanently hooked to the Star Wars mythos.

A cool graphic novel to collect if you're the 'completist' type. Though the graphic novel is a real eye candy, I only give it four stars for the little details the creative team failed to put in. Otherwise the book is a good read and well worth your hard-earned cash. But, if you have a better alternative, look for other Star Wars graphic novels instead.
