Summary: artful, fashionable, culturally literate
Review: So far I've only been able to get my hands on Volume 1 of this excellent manga series, but Paradise Kiss is already one of my favorites.
The story focuses on Yukari, a shy and gifted workaholic high schooler, and the events that take place when she meets up with a group of misfit fashion design students and their charismatic leader, George.
The art is higher-quality, and, especially in the case of the characters' outfits and accessories, much more detailed than most manga illustration. Mod style, punk, and cross-dressing are just a few of the fashion experiences within the pages of Paradise Kiss.
Signs that this manga is a cut above the rest: I took a long time to read it (usually I finish them in about an hour :()
I didn't experience any "what just happened?" moments where the action suddenly seemed disjointed. and, the movie "Velvet Goldmine" was part of the inspiration for the characters' look!
If you enjoy this series, check out the "Blue Monday" trade paperbacks - these are manga-inspired American comics by Chynna Clugston-Major. They also deal with a punk/mod group of friends and their adventures.

Summary: manga down the rabbit hole...
Review: this is like alice in wonderland. girl sees strange thing, falls down, winds up in new world with different rules only to discover it's the same one all along. i love that george encourages yukari to do what she really wants to do instead of what she's expected to do. i bought this and then i had to keep going back to buy the next in the series. the only flaws are that sometimes things move a little fast... (two or three panel gags that never really get mentioned) or gewt unrealistic, but if you din't want that why in god's name would you be reading manga? worth your ten bucks if you like cool clothes, fighting ppl in love, and have no issues with gay ppl or drag queens.

Summary: Paradise Kiss
Review: This is one of my favorite manga I am reading (out of about twenty or thirty...)!!! Paradise Kiss is a wonderful manga about Yukari, a typical Japanese highschool student cramming for midterms. But when she is picked out of the blue to be a model for Paradise Kiss, a group of highschool fashion designers, her life changes forever. She realizes her life is drab and boring. Bit by bit, she is slowly sucked into the world of Paradise Kiss, and builds confidence and makes true friends.

I truly love this series. It includes strong characters and an entrancing storyline. My pocketbook is already as thin as paper... but I still go out and buy the next volume of Paradise Kiss ! I strongly suggest you buy this!!! Definitely worth the 10 bucks!!

Summary: Excellent Work
Review: This is perhaps one of the most interesting things I have read in a long time. The art is just out of this world. Ai Yazawa has drawn this amazing world with great characters and I want to spend as much time hanging out with them at their studio as I'm allowed. Don't miss this.

Summary: Very GOod manga art and story line
Review: This is the manga that's got me hooked right now and I am anxiously waiting for book 5. Not only for fashion buffs, this series has everything that good shoujo manga should have.

Beginning with overall appearance, everything is beautifully drawn and the emphasis on fashion is a great addition. I am always excited to see what outfits Miwako and the others will be wearing next.

The characters have such depth to them. Yazawa has carefully created a past for each character and she introduces each past piece by piece. Each little addition adds a clue to the mindset of each character and helps the reader understand why the characters act the way they do. The characters seem human, they act realistically and naturally.

As for plot. Well, it is shoujo manga so there are many of the typical struggles going on in "Paradise Kiss". A girl fed up with her studies is searching for any means of escape. She gets caught up with a group of outcasts, struggles to find herself, and even manages to fall in love (borderline love triangle for sure) ::SURPRISE!!!:: However, I personally feel that while the typical themes are always lying beneath the surface, "Paradise Kiss" delivers them in a fun and original way.

So if your looking for a manga with a great plot, intriguing/lovable characters, alot of humor and great artwork, I would highly recommend "Paradise Kiss". I have already gotten the 3 friends I introduced it to completely hooked =D

Summary: Grabs your attention from the START
Review: This is volume 1 of Paradise Kiss (aka Parakiss) by the talented Ai Yazawa! Not only is the artwork just fresh and new compared to the traditional Japanese manga like Sailormoon 'eyes' but you'll literally get absorbed into this graphic novel! As a poor student I don't have a lot of cash so when buying my graphic novels, if the first few pages don't interest me, then I don't buy it. Simply as that. =P When I opened this graphic novel up I just fell in love with it and paid for it immediately.

Since this is the first volume of Parakiss it mainly introduces you to the characters: Miwako, Arashi, George, and Isabella. These four people are the ones behind Paradise Kiss; designing, sewing, etc. fashionable clothes! The girl on the front cover is the main protagonist, Yukari (aka Caroline) and she's the model for Paradise Kiss. Of course it's not that simple for Yukari to agree modelling for Paradise Kiss because she has to study for her exams! Or does she...? heheh Buy the graphic novel, you won't regret it!

Review: THis manga has romance, drama, and pretty good fashion styles. THe story line and the art is very good.

Summary: Obsessed!
Review: This Manga is the best manga ever. Deffinitly different then the usual. It mixes together punk and the regular school girl mangas. Basically Yukari is sucked into the world of fashion and she sees' a new out look in life. For once she actually isn't studying like her parents want her to. She rebels and becomes her true self. The person she truly is if she wasn't studying. This Manga has romance, though different then what you would expect. Deffinitly not the kind of Manga were the guy is all sweet and sugary. No, in this Manga the guy Yukari falls for is definitly not that way. He's stuck up and he knows it, Though in a good way!
If you are a fan for something unique and new this is for you and even if you aren't I know you will still like it. It's like a fresh breath of air. So BUY IT ALREADY!
