Summary: Good, but not too "Star Wars"
Review: I think the events despicted by this graphic novel occur right after Vision of the Future, the drawing style was almost photorealistic (specialy Han's expressions on "The Red Rancor") there is a lot of cinematic action, and of course the main story about Luke's wedding with Mara, (BTW: I think she looked ok by being cute, what would you expect on a woman in love?).

The only thing that strikes me is that sometimes just doesn't feel Star Wars, there are many dark gothic scenes, (ok, it's the dark side some may say, but what about the gothic?) I don't remember any SW comic being so dark, it's a Star Wars story not Batman or Spawn! I don't know if that has anything to do with Skackpole's writing style, after all Onslaught and Ruin had a diferent action pace (Mangalike I would say).

Summary: Get this comic book!!
Review: I usually don't read comic books but I decided that I would try this one. Amazingly I actually liked it. Luke and all the rest looked like they were supposed to-not like in some Star Wars comic books.
I would have preferred a novel about Luke and Mara's wedding like Han and Leia's but I have to admit that this comic was okay. So for those that like comic books or those that just want this because it has Luke and Mara's wedding--get it!

Summary: Luke and Mara's Wedding
Review: I would have preferred that Luke and Mara's wedding was done in a novel. However, I was so happy that they were finally getting married that the fact that it was not a novel was almost inconsequential (although I still hope that they may turn it into a novel, to fill in the story, at a later date). Overall it was a good story.

Summary: MARA MY MARA!
Review: If you're a fan of Luke and Mara (as I am!) than this one is definitely a must. Though the storyline felt a bit confused at times, this is probably just because of my relative inexperience with comic books. The characters were well fleshed out and all the scenes (particularly those between Luke and Mara) seemed to capture the essence of every character and varying relationship. The graphics were good, even bordering on excellent. As other reviewers pointed out, a lot of the background characters were hard to recognize, which is saying a lot since I'm a very experienced fan of the EU and should know them all by heart. Still, the good points most definitely outweigh the few bad ones. If you're a Luke and Mara fan, this one should not be missed. Good for all ages.

Summary: a must read
Review: It may not have a lot of action in i, but personally I usually prefer books with a more emotional aspect. I'm not for a lot of romance though. This contained a level that I rarely see in Star Wars and I loved it.

Summary: Hmmm.............
Review: Not a bad book, although it kind of varies depending on your taste regarding SW. If you like lots of action and are not well-versed in the books and comics, do not buy the book. Period. You won't know who the bloody hell most of the people are and won't enjoy the book at all.

Stackpole's last hurrah in the world of SW comics is one meant for diehard fans, especially of his and Zahn's books. The art is good and the plot is overall what Stackpole siad it would be in his interview with 'Star Wars Insider': a family albumn. If you know a lot about Mirax, Corran, Iella, Tycho, Kam, Booster, and all of the others, read the book to see some nice interaction and the like.

The problem lies with the Imperials. The scenes start out very ominous, which is a good touch in my opinion. Then they get a bit silly at times. I should point out, though, that they first went after the dress to get close enough to Mara to kill her. A lot of people including myself thought they were idiots going aftr a piece of clothing. The second time they were trying to delay the wedding as part of the dirstaction. Just to clear that up. The climax falls on its face, though, Simplt put, it was just too easy.

The art is great. Very realistic, cinematic, and overall quite interesting. Like the rest of the book, it tends to be somewhat subjective, but its good nonetheless.

Overall, this is a book for diehard SW fans, those who like a lot of the characters from the books and comics. If you don't don't get the book. You'll get a headache after a while. It's not Stackpole's best, though. The world of SW comics has been fortunate enough to be graced by the XWRS comics 'In the Empire's Service' & 'Mandatory Retirment'. Both are masterpieces of SW literature. 'Union', alas, is not. If you want good Stackpole comics, read those. Read 'Union' as a family albumn for the devout SW fan.

Summary: Leave it to Zahn Stackpole
Review: Ok first and formost-what are you playing at Chuckry? Since when did Kam Solusar look like the exact spitting image of Bruce Willis- not impressive. Apart from that- the graphics are flawless. However, never rely on the sentimentality of a writer like Stackpole to try and manipulate a fragile character like Mara Jade. It doesn't work - leave it to Zahn. Having said, Han and the saboteurs were done excellently. The love scenes between Luke and Mara achieved what they were set out to achieve, but nothing more. None of the irony was there as I think is in the novels. If you're looking for a round up of all the characters and families the extended universe has created, then this is definately the book. It has everyone and anyone- plus plenty of extras.
Round up of this graphic novel would be 'Reunion fest with corny one liners- satisfyingly spoiled by great star wars slang like 'sith spit.' Oh and the ending - well, lets just say that wud be too warming for even in Walt Disney's Oven.

Just buy it- you know you want it regardless.

Summary: Interesting comic of Luke's and Mara's wedding.
Review: Personally, I would have liked that Luke and Mara's wedding be in a novel form, but having a comic like "Union" is, does have its pluses. For one, we actually could see the characters and what they were doing. The dialogue at times can be confusing (like the bar room brawl and the people plotting against the wedding), but overall it makes sense and Michael Stackpole does a good job at it. The biggest problem I have with the comic was the picturing and drawings. Certainly the known characters we know from the movie trilogy look like they should look like (though at times, I think Luke and Han could have been drawn better), but I felt that the drawings weren't as good as some of the past comics, like the comic adaption of the Timothy Zahn book, "Dark Force Rising", which I feel is the best comic version out of almost all of them. With the drawings, Mara herself could have looked much better, which brings back the comic of DFR, which I felt had Mara down to the hilt of the way that Zahn wrote her. Besides that, "Union" was a excellent entry into the Star Wars universe with the marriage of probably the most famous person from the original movie trilogy, Luke Skywalker (duh!). It does have some problems (which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 stars), but it is a refresher before the New Jedi Order book series, which I hate overall (the exception being the birth of Luke and Mara's son Ben).
