Summary: Very Good Book
Review: This story, tells a lot about the first episodes of Ranma 1/2. And, is much cheeper, plus it adds a lot of things that you don't find in the Animé. I enjoyed this book a lot. I love reading over and over. And, plus, I can take it anywhere I want, which is something you can't do with the video/DVD.

Summary: My favorite comic series of all time!
Review: At first glance, it would seem that Ranma 1/2 is the story of a red-haired Chinese girl and her violent relationship with a panda. But upon further examination, it becomes apparent that it is actually about a boy named Ranma Saotome who is cursed to change into a red-haired girl when splashed with cold water. Fortunately, Ranma is able to turn back to normal with the application of hot water. The panda is actually Ranma's dad, Genma Saotome, and he was responsible for their misfortune, which is why Ranma is all too eager to let his frustrations out on the panda.

In the first volume, the Saotomes move in with their family friends, the Tendos, and Ranma is abruptly engaged to one of the Tendo daughters, Akane. Ranma and Akane had never even met each other, but their fathers had planned for them to marry and become the heirs to the Tendo dojo. Of course, Akane is not at all happy to be forced to marry a total stranger who she also thinks is a pervert because of an unfortunate bathroom mishap. Ranma just wants to find a cure for his predicament, and he hardly wants to marry such an "uncute" girl who seems to hate his guts. Sparks fly as the unhappily engaged couple fight for the first time, and Ranma gets his first, but certainly not last, pummeling at the hands of his new fiancee.

Hilarious action ensues in the following chapters as Ranma has to cope with both his curse and his relationship with Akane. Things only get more complicated when people from Ranma's past come knocking, and both Ranma and Akane end up with far more suitors than they cared to have. As if one fiancee wasn't enough, Ranma ends up with three more women claiming to be his fiancee, and to make matters worse, Akane actually gets jealous and dishes out some serious physical punishment.

Throughout it all, Ranma and Akane's feelings for each other grow stronger, although their pride keeps them from ever admitting their feelings. Nevertheless, they become the most indestructible couple I have ever seen, and I can't help but say "Awwwww..." when yet again, Ranma and Akane's true feelings are revealed through their actions.

As a romantic comedy, Ranma 1/2 on the surface seems to be more comedy than romance. But look deeper, and you'll find a genuine and compelling romance that will warm your heart as much as the hilarious situations and characters will make you laugh.

Summary: Ranma 1/2 is just like Pringles
Review: Once you pop the fun won't stop! Ranma 1/2 is probably the most addictive manga I've ever read! I'm completly broke from it! It's basically about a guy who turns into a girl *Ranma* when splashed with water. Weird huh? Well that's what I thought but you just get addicted! From the beginning of the story Ranma gets engaged to a girl named Akane by their parents. And from then on it gets more random! That's probably what makes it so good, you never will know what happens next! So get ready to burn a giant hole in your pocket! Because you won't be able to stop reading!

Summary: Insignificant review from a MI fan
Review: You probably already know if you want this book, and my review isn't going to make much difference in this huge flood of rave reviews. But anyway, I'm a big, semi-obsessive Maison Ikkoku (by the same author) fan, so if you're a Maison Ikkoku fan, you're likely to share my tastes. I've read the first four volumes of Ranma 1/2. I don't think Ranma 1/2 is as hilarious as some say. There are some really funny bits every now and then, but it's not *constantly* funny IMO. Monty Python is an example of constantly funny. But this has story and action, unlike Monty Python, so it doesn't have the time to be constantly funny. The main characters, Ranma and Akane, are good, as are all of Takahashi's main characters. Most of the extra characters are really extreme, not very rounded, although that's not necessarily a bad thing. There's a large portion of martial arts action, which isn't really my favorite thing and is less involving than the action in Inu-Yasha, also by the same author, and there's just a little dose of romance, which tends to be a faint little thing in the background but comes into the foreground at brief moments. The romance is never dwelled upon very much when it does appear and inevitably gives way in the end to a gag of some sort (as also happens in Maison Ikkoku sometimes, and is not funny there IMHO). Ranma 1/2 is an amusing story, not a serious one, as I'm sure you've already gathered, and *is* entertaining and quite interesting. And check out Maison Ikkoku if you like Takahashi and romantic comedy. It's bigger on romance and less on comedy and action.

Summary: Insane, yet delightful!
Review: First things first! To read and enjoy Ranma 1/2, you have to have an open mind and a good sense of humor! If you are more into serious anime, such as Gundam Wing, you may not like this very much. Ranma is a great series with more crazy characters and great plot twists than you can shake a stick at. If you are an anime fan, and you are looking for a funny series to get into, I recommend Ranma. I favor the mangas over the TV series because you get more storyline for your money! And at 300 pages, how can you resist? Easy to follow, a nice-paced storyline. There is some nudity in this novel, but I am 13 and it didn't bother me. If you have any questions about how appropriate the content is, please email me.(Shampoodle@www.com)

Whether you are new to anime, or you have manga lining your walls, don't hesitate to add this great graphic novel to your collection! It's worth the $17, I promise.

Summary: Ranma 1/2 Graphic Novels: Not sure to get them?
Review: When I first saw these I was a little hesitant to get them because I wasn't a big manga fan. "It won't be as good as watching it on DVD or tape." I said to myself. If you're like that I understand, but finally I did buy them and for just being a manga it is one of the funniest things I have ever read. It will have you laughing harder than if you were watching it on TV. If you get the whole series of the graphic novels you won't be disappointed. They have awesome drawings, good storylines, and when you start reading it you won't want to put it down. The story continues throughout each book so you'll share a big adventure with the characters. At first I wasn't a manga fan but now I think I'll be getting a lot more from Ranma 1/2 and also other Anime series. It's definitely a good feeling to now like manga as a big Anime fan. Have fun reading!

Summary: Has something for everyone.
Review: Who dosen't know Rumiko Takihashi? Well, many people don't, but those with even little exposure to the world of anime and manga will definitly know her name. Before I even could prenouce "anime" right, I already knew about her most popular series, "Ranma 1/2". I dislike the anime version due to the dubbing, which I dislike for personal reasons. However, the manga is not dubbed (duhh) so apparently I would like it much more.

The story stars Ranma and his father Genma. One normal day they go to the cursed springs for training. During the training, Ranma knocks Genma into the lake of "drowned Panda", and when Genma emerges, He is a huge, fat Panda! Genma whacks Ranma into a spring, and he suffers a similar fate. Ranma falls into the "spring of drowed girl".

While Ranma and Genma are not always a panda or girl, things are far from okay. Whenever they touch cold water, they turn into the cursed form. Touching them with hot water transforms them back into their normal form. Thing get worse when Ranma gets engaged to the moody Akane.

The artwork is quite good. Character designs are adorable, almost whymsical is appearance. The backgrounds are pretty detailed. The artwork is overall pretty nice. It's no CLAMP or Yukito Kishiro, but its good.

The plot starts off pretty well and go's at a brisk pace. From drama to humor, the plot is a real page turner. The story is very unique. Their are tons of characters's, each different and charming in their own way. Character development is exceptional, and at times the characters become the driving point for the entire series. And despite the art style, the character's behave is very "real" ways, and are believeable. Teenagers will undoubtfully love this series. Things like the uncomfortable first kiss, to the embaressing excitment of a certain crush; its all very charming and handled in a easy to read way that teenagers are bound to love, boy or girl. Yes, this manga has several sesitive moments.

Besides the genuinely touching moments, "Ranma 1/2" has ton's and ton's of funny moments, guarenteed to put one in belly laughs. What's so great is that is that the humor has variety. Slapstick, one-liners, etc. The humor also ties in with the battles. Battles are not only unique and fun, but over the top as well. In one battle Ranma and Akane must fight a lethal couple on a ice ring. The opponent is a womanizer who's in love with Ranma's female side (yikes), and a young girl who, when she sees something she things is "cute", she'll name it (steal and rename it if it already has an owner), and won't let anyone else have it. Anyway, Ranma has broken every bone in his body so far in the fight, but someone acidently drops some water on him......cold water. Anyway, the battles becomes reduced to Ranma and his rival throwing Ice chunks at each-other. Over the top, isn't it? It's "Ranma 1/2"

All in all, I can't think of anyone who would not enjoy "Ranma 1/2". Action,Comedy,Romance and Drama with fantasy elements are seamlessly blended in a very entertaining package. Its one of the most popular manga and anime series available, and for a good reason. Sure, there are better, more deeper manga's than "Ranma 1/2". But "Ranma 1/2" is, while not particulary enriching, will wipe one's depression and put a smile on their face. "Ranma 1/2" has magic, and I highly recommended it.
