Summary: [weird] images in pop culture
Review: this manga gives new meaning to the idea of gender "fluidity". a must have for a [weird] otaku- hilarious! and generally speaking, it is a ideal introduction to the manga world.

Summary: You cannot overlook Ranma!! :)
Review: I guess I didn't really know what I was getting myself into when I ordered Ranma 1/2 Vol. 1, but now I am totally hooked!! Ranma 1/2 is such a fun and lovable story that will without a doubt keep you totally attached. The story line seems a little strange at first: a boy turning into a girl when he's hit with cold water?? But it's so cute and makes total sense when you read it!! All of the characters keep you wanting more, each with their own strange pasts and interests in specific main characters. So please don't pass this one up, it's definitely one of my top fave anime/manga stories!! :o)

Summary: I Absolutely LOVE this book!
Review: Being that this is the first installment to the whole Ranma series, it shows how everything started, who's who, and what's what. The main character Ranma is a boy who can turn into a girl when splashed with cold water and back to a boy with hot water. This is so because he and his father, Genma, trained at the Grounds of Cursed Springs (Jusenkyo, my spelling might be off). While Ranma falls into the Spring of Drowned Girl, his father falls into the Spring of Drowned Panda! so you can guess what he turns into when splashed with cold water! You also meet the Tendo Family: Soun->Father, Kasumi->eldest daughter, Nabiki->middle daughter, and Akane->youngest daughter whom Ranma is supposed to marry. It gets all crazy when they find out that Ranma is half-boy and half-girl! There are other important characters like Ryoga (the eternally lost boy), Kuno (an arrogant student), Dr. Tofu (who helps everyone with their injuries), and I believe that's it for this book. So far there are 17 volumes of these graphic novels and each one has a hilarious story to them, but this one is the best because it's the first. I highly recommend to get this before it's gone for good. However, this is definitely NOT for children because there is female nudity, but good for the high schooler or the Anime fan in your household.

Summary: Rumiko Takahashi is a master of her art!
Review: Let's get this out right away: I love this book! It is pretty much a basic introduction the the Ranma 1/2 series, and starts the series off very well. The basic plot: A long time ago, Soun Tendo and Genma Saotome promised each other that Genma's son would marry one of Soun's daughters. Well, the day has come to act out that promise, and so Genma and his son Ranma set out to the Tendo dojo. Well, everyone is pretty surprised when instead of a man and a teenaged boy, a panda and a teenaged girl arrive! The reason: while on a training mission, Ranma and Genma acquired a little, ahem, curse. When splashed with cold water, Genma turns into a giant panda and Ranma turns into a beautiful, chesty redheaded girl. Plus, Ranma gets engaged to Akane, the "macho chick" who hates him! Next, Ranma goes to school, and gains a rival and a person crushing on him-but they're the same person. It's Upperclassman Kuno, the moron who can't seem to figure out that Ranma and the "pigtailed goddess" are the same person. Then there's the entrance of Ryoga, an old rival of Ranma's and the "eternal lost boy" whose hatred of Ranma seems to have grown with the years! Why could that be? This series has everything: martial arts silliness, action, comedy, and romantic comedy. I recommend it to everyone.

Summary: Warning: This book is extremely hilarious
Review: I was introduced to this book by a friend. This book was one of the first manga books I've read. I'm a Chinese girl, and I thought the Chinese Springs part of the book was interesting. the Chinese person that was yelling at Saotome, was in a Chinese police uniform. The Chinese person was also strange when he talked, which seems like most Chinese broken English. ^_^; This book is filled with everything. I personally do not like Mangas with so strong of a storyline because of the suspense. If you do not like suspense, then this is perfect for you. Enjoy!

Summary: extremely readable, hard to stop
Review: It's hard to avoid mentioning what other reviews have already mentioned, but I'll try. Simply, Ranma half has made Takahashi Rumiko very very rich. It's not hard to understand why. The stories appeal to all people, males, females, children, teens and adults. It's humourous, it has action, and if you read carefully, there ia bit of drama as well.

Rathing I gave this book reflects the whole series, some stories are very funny, others not so funny, others almost a waste of time. I personally found several stories in books 6 and 8 hilarious.

Summary: Just gotta luv both sides of Ranma!
Review: On a training 'trip' to China, Ranma knocks his father into the 'Spring of drowned Panda' causing Saotome Genma to turn into a panda with a splash of cold water. In turn, Ranma himself gets thrown into the 'Spring of drowned Girl'. Now Ranma leads a life of female AND male. Not to mention the fact that he has quite a few fiancee's, MANY mother-in-laws and father-in-laws. Also many arch-enemies.

It mostly depends if you mind nudity or not, because most of the Ranma 1/2 manga have a LOT of nudity. I mean, flip to the fourth of fifth page, and you'll come across a naked female Ranma. Next you'll see Akane, and following after that...well, order it, read and find out. Takahashi Rumiko does a splendid job on Ranma 1/2, and continues to amaze me on how good she can draw, and how she can draw you into the characters' personality. The manga itself has some violence, not much, it also exceeds in nudity and male-to-female changes. If you like Ranma 1/2, try some of her other manga. You'll enjoy them, maybe not as much as Ranma, but you will. ^_^

Summary: So funny!
Review: I recommend this book to any manga fan, whether you are just getting started on manga, or are an expert! It has comedy, romance, martial arts, and is drawn very well. This book is about Ranma, a boy who turns into a girl with a splash of cold water! He goes through hilarious adventures with his father, who also transforms with cold water--into a panda! In a world with window washers, sprinkler systems, and rain, I think you can imagine the comedy that appears in this book--just on Ranma's way to school!

Summary: Ranma 1/2 Volume 1
Review: Otherwise known as "fun with water" and "how many times we can splash one person with water", Rumiko Takahashi's Ranma 1/2 has everything an otaku could ask for (except maybe giant mechas like in the Macross series)action, adventure, romance, comedy, and of course random acts of violence!

I would readily suggest this manga to anyone.
