The cover and the pages are great, and the story is darkly comedic. It's really great. I don't think you want to give this to your young children as a present, but it's not totaly horrible. It just has gothic like stuff in it, and it sends out not so positive outlooks, sutch as "Emily Dosn't Aim High, She Aim's Low." And "Emily Holds The Future In Her Own Hands: No Future." It's a great book besides this.

Review: As a young Adult reader, I firmly contend that Emily: The Strange can be read as more than a mere novelty book. Of course, there is the exceptional graphic and humor level, but, I believe more importantly, it is this wonderful book's (not so subtle) reminder that we all have to settle-just not all the way. Our rebellion can be in the little things, the details of life, something small, like a coffee table book.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: A wonderfully demented little coffee table book Review: As an Emily (obviously) who has had multiple black cats in my lifetime, I was immediately drawn to this darkly funny little book. I think Emily's individualism and uniqueness stand out above her vaguely sinister actions; she is simply a girl refuses to live her life as expected. It's a wonderful gift book for any teenage or adult Emilys - or anyone with the spirit of Emily the Strange.

Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Wonderfully Creepy Review: Emily the Strange is a brief and funny biography of Emily, a rather....odd little girl who doesn't just break rules; she breaks hearts. The illustrations went perfectly with the dark mood of the book. However, the story did not have much plot; it was basically a summary of Emily's life. I believe that to know more about Emily, one has to read the other books in the series. Despite the fact that this picture book is more for adults than for children, it has a quirky, goth-y charm that will definitely be appreciated.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: a great little pocket book Review: Emily the Strange is a really awesome idea. Its not really a story as much as its a series of catch phrases and anecdotes, i.e "Emily doesnt break rules, she breaks hearts", (or something to that effect). One of the best parts of this book is the unique use of ink - figure/ground reversal...implied by the cover, much of the art is silouhette. Another wonderful feature is the printing...they really made use of veneer techniques, i.e. if you look at certain pages at the right angle in the right light, you can see phantasmagoric typography , "cat eyes", and other such hidden treasures. If you are into great graphic design, book design, or even if you have no interrest in that and you just want a clever book....this is the book for you. I really like books like this - books that are in a children's book style, yet appeal more to the older crowd yet retain an "all ages" feel. This book illustrates that perfectly. one down point - in my opinion, the author is one of those people who's work proceeds them...the book is really great, but the author's obsession with cats is evident in the book...maybe i'm just fickle, but cat lovers just weird me out. thanks for reading!

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Get lost- while reading this! Review: Emily the Strange is an essential item, especially if you tend to think 'outside the box'. Those of you who are typical, normal people probably won't like or understand this- just warning you. I'm also warning you- Emily is very addictive. Once you enter her lair, it's hard to leave. Emily is a 13 year old gal with a very interesting take on life, and a posse of 4 black cats. I enjoy this book because Emily reminds me of myself .... she's very different than everyone else. This book is also very funny. Emily has a bizarre sense of humor. The illustrations fit the book perfectly. They're done in red, black, and white. I only wish that the book was longer ...... If you liked this, grab 'Emily's Secret Book of Strange', one of the journals/diaries, and a calendar. I just love this book. It's a lot of fun persuing this on a cold, rainy night, while locked up in your bedroom. Get lost.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Emily: The Strange is The Best! Review: Emily: The Strange is a great little book! I randomly picked it up because I thought the cover art was catchy looking, and I was not disappointed at ALL! Emily: The Strange is about an atypical little girl who sees and hears things that other people only have nightmares about - however, instead of being frightened or wary of these things, she enjoys them. She's a little creepy (Addam's Family style) but very very funny and interesting overall. I believe that both kids and adults will have a hoot over Emily's bizarre (and a tad bit macabre) outlook on things. In my opinion, this little charm is creatively written and beautiful to look at . . . Cosmic Debris does some very interesting artwork and the use of the 3 colors red white and black is really neat. There are many fun things hidden within each picture, too, which encourages the reader to really examine each page to find something spooky or comical. I hope to see more things by this outfit in the future, because Emily: The Strange was too much fun! Happy Reading!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Great Emily Collector's Item Review: First off, Emily Strange is NOT FOR KIDS!! IF you didn't know that, you're stupid. Look at the cover of the book, she's all dressed in black and her shadow is a cat. It says it all. If you made the mistake of buying it for your kid, then you should be more careful and preview things you buy, instead of just handing it over to little johnny or mary to enjoy. The book is for goth lovers and strange lovers alike. Emily appeals to those who only enjoy things odd or "un-normal". Great book, cool pics. For amusement "ONLY" don't read into it too deeply. It wasn't meant to be a novel. Come on!!
