Summary: A fantastic graphic novel
Review: This is an exceptionally wonderful graphic novel (gn)- it combines shockingly raw dialogue and poetry integrated into minimalist yet well-realized comic art. You'll find what The Crow has to say to you haunting you into enjoying your life more- I know I have since I read this GN, and saw the movie. If you like comics whatsoever, this is one to own.

Summary: A Dead Man Visits You
Review: "One day you are going to lose everything you have. Nothing will prepare you for that day. Not faith...not religion...nothing. When someone you love dies, you will know emptinesss...you will know what it is to be completly and utterly alone."

The preceding passage from John Bergin's introduction to THE CROW sums up the story perfectly. Eric has had everything torn from him and is empty inside.

Eric and his fiancee are enjoying there engagment when they're car breaks down. They are attacked by a gang (consisting of TBird, Top Dollar, FunBoy, Tin Tin and Tom Tom), Eric is shot and killed, his fiancee, Shelly is raped and killed. One year later, Eric(not Draven; Eric's last name in the book starts with C or D and ends with S) returns and begins picking off members of the gang.

All in all, this is a wonderful book. The story is great, the art is okay(it isn't 5 star-ish at the begining, but about 40 pages in it begins to improve until it reaches near perfect! ion near the end), but the best part is the emotional way it is told. There are times I could feel the pain and emotion of James O'Barr(by the way-this book was written after O'Barrr lost his own fiancee to a drunk driver). The only way this book could get better is if it was reprinted in c o l o r.

If you like revenge stories, gothic stuff, or just a really good read, definatly get this book(it's worth the $15.00).

Summary: Real Love IS Forever
Review: After seeing the late Brandon Lee's adaptation of this movie, I was curious enough to pick up the original graphic novel upon which it was based. Starkly drawn and painfully revealing, this project in creative therapies explores grief, loss, and death in an honest, unforgetable medium. J.S. O'Barr's beautiful tribute to his late fiance is truly a work of art, inspiring my husband and I to inscribe "Love is Forever" inside our wedding bands.

Summary: A thought-provoking masterpiece!
Review: This was my first and utmost favorite graphic novel. The inking and coloring are fantastic. The storyline is that of love cut short. This book contains extreme violence.

Summary: A Concave Scream
Review: Okay, so everybody loves the Crow, and so do I. I first read the book and then saw the movie. The book captures the emotions far more powerfully than the film (of course, after all O'Barr wrote the book and had little to do with the film). Full of poetry that is rather simple, and mostly from lyrics to the early '80s goth-punk-rock bands like Joy Division, The Cure, and Wire. The art is impressive in that O'Barr had no formal training, and it captures the essence of goth culture. The story is your typical comic book "justice for victims," but a classic formula rarely dies, although it tends to get old without its own little variations to carry it. The Crow has plenty of these, but at its heart, it is still a commonplace story that just happened to strike a chord with fans either because of the movie or because of the tragedy surrounding O'Barr's reasons for writing it (death of his fiancee to a drunk driver). Not to say the book is bad...it is excellent. Full ! of mysticism, philosophy, tragedy, violence, and a pretty well-developed if again familiar story.

Summary: An Amazing Story
Review: I totally and completely love this book. No other book has ever made me cry, but this one did. You can really feel the emotion of the writer, and his pain that he was feeling at the time. I would tell anyone to read this book, because it is wonderful!!!

Summary: The book is bigger and better than the movie
Review: James O'Barr captures a sorrow in the comics that just wasn't there in the film. The artistry is beautiful in my opinion. And this is THE revenge story of all times. There is so much more that is explained in here than the movie (perhaps because the movie was based off this), but this sticks true with the books being better than the movie. It's worth the $17 you pay for it, and you can read it again and again.

Summary: Some compellingly raw poetry, occasionally competent art.
Review: This book is an interesting first effort (as far as I know it is O'Barr's first) that has it's moments, but overall I was unimpressed by this work. I think the main reason this work hits as hard as it does is not due to the skill of O'Barr (especially the art) but the raw emotion that assails you throughout. However, I don't feel this is due to the skill of the author (no disrepect to O'Barr) but the sheer power of his experience. After reading it the first time and dealing with the reality of the authors experience that inspired this work, I have to say the book really is not that well done. There is some nice poetry (although I'm sure Garth Ennis would not agree) but I feel the art is definitely sub-standard-although it has its moments. I can think of many other titles worthy of 5 stars.

Summary: The book that changed my life
Review: When this movie came out, all i had to do was take one glimpse of the screen, and i was mesmerized. I was spellbound. I bought this book, and it changed my life. I used to think i was wierd for being into this stuff, but now i don't. From the very first glimpse of the cover, I felt like i had just found a friend. The whole novel held me spellbound. it's been 4 years since the movie came out, and i got this novel, and i'm still as spellbound as i was the first time i read it. This book showed me of a love, of a power, of a vengeance, that i could only dream about.

Summary: The Ultimate Tale Of Revenge
Review: Have you ever wondered what it would be like if you were torn from your loved one, suddenly and without mercy? Not only does Eric (not Draven. Thats only his name in the movie) experience that reality, but he also goes through a gothic revival in order to punish those that unfairly sentenced him and his fiance to death. Real love does last forever, but sometimes forever isn't long enough.
