Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Tokyopop's first shonen ai title ever! Review: OK. Before Tokyopop came around, I had to buy FAKE manga special ordered from Japan or only watch the OVA on DVD, or scan the internet for scanlations, and even then it was annoying because it was like seeing only one tiny section of this whole other series that existed out there! Well, now I got the manga in English and wow! I'm so freakin' happy! I highly recomend this tile, even if you're a bit squimish about shonen ai (fluffy male/male). That's not the focus of the series. It actually /does/ have a plot, and besides that, it's extremly funny! Anyway, check it out! You'll like it. Dee is so sugoi!!
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Can't get enough Review: Okay. This is the second shonen-ai/yaoi manga that I've read and I love it. I was a bit skeptical at first though becuase I had read Gravitation before and preferred that style of drawing and such, but now I'm glad I said "what the hey" and bought it. The story, first of all, has a plot. YAY! It really has wonderful characters and their interractions are great. Bikky is such a cute kid with that "I'm so tough" exterior and Dee and Ryo are just adorable. While I wasn't a fan of the drawing style at first it grew on me and now I don't even understand why I questioned it. It's a great story and certainly has many laughs. Which leads me to the reason for only four stars. While I loved the story and plot and grew the love the drawing style, I was very confused in the beginning. In the first few pages I felt like maybe I was missing a few. Things happen rather quickly, but I guess it's okay. The rest of the novel falls into place. For all you yaoi fans, this is a definite must! The guys are completely adorable and hilarious. If you hate men kissing other men though, this isn't for you. While there isn't tons of it in the first book it's still there.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Big fun Review: Randy "Ryo" Maclean is new to the New York Police Department and is partnered with the black sheep of the department, Dee Laytner. Their first mission together is to protect a young kid called Bikky whose father was murdered. When Bikky and Dee are kidnapped, it falls to Ryo to find them. Ryo is developing a crush on Dee, but he's getting mixed signals. So is Dee gay or just harmlessly flirting? Later, Carol, another street punk and a friend of Bikky, comes under the protection of the two policemen and causes more confusion in their tentative relationship. Or is it all in Ryo's imagination? This popular Japanese manga, finally available in America, is loaded with adventure, romance, and humor.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: These other reviews must be by children Review: The art work in this book is good except for the fact that all the characters look alike! Ryo and Dee are the same person only one has black hair and the other has blonde hair. How uncreative can you get? And the writing is absolutely boring. No good ideas or original ideas here. Just stories written by a child for children. The homosexual topic obviously is the hook that is selling this book.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Good shounen-ai with a strong plot Review: The FAKE anime was my first introduction to shounen-ai (aka "boys in love" but not graphically sexual) and still is my favorite. Since the anime left something to be desire (it only covers 2 manga chapters), I was both surprised and thrilled to hear that FAKE was made into a graphic novel so I could actually read more about the adventures of Ryo and Dee. This book is great on various levels. First, for girls (and guys) who like shounen-ai, there is the growing and tenuous relationship between the two main characters and the supporting characters (Bikky, Carol, and J.J.) who try to come between them. Second, there's the comedy of Dee trying to snare Ryo, the interactions between Dee and his boss, Bikky and Dee, and so on that's quite hilarious. Third, there's strong plots through all of the chapters: cops hunting down the wrong-doers and trying to save the day. The other reason that this is so good is because the translator did a great job of changing the text to fit English colloquialisms. I don't read Japanese so I can't comment on the quality of the translation, but the book flowed nicely and was relevant to life today in America. This is a definite reccomend. However, I would not reccomend this to someone who is homophobic or someone who does not like swears/sexual references. I believe the rating is 16+, so if any parents are thinking of this book as a gift, be aware that it is not meant for younger readers.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Fluff with a Plot...Who would have known? Review: This is the first shounen-ai manga I've ever bought, though I'm quite familiar with shounen-ai through the works of others (fan fiction). FAKE, Vol. 1 starts off with Dee, a member of the NYPD. Next, we're introduced to Ryo, a part-Japanese cop, who's the newest member of the NYPD. At the time, you're completely oblivious to the fact that Dee is gay, and has a crush on Ryo. To not give away the majority of the first book, I'll leave it at after their first mission, things get interesting. A great read, one I couldn't put down. Matoh doesn't treat sex like it's taboo, and the humor is enough to make you laugh out loud. Matoh has some memorable characters in this one, and it's done beautifully. The sexual tension is enough to make you smile, and this is a series that is sure to be a favorite among any shounen-ai fans, young and old!

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Fake is great. Review: This manga series has to be one of the greatest ever. Not just one of those mangas that waste shelf-space in the book store. The plot is both edearing and fun, although at times you do get confed at whether the two main characters (both boys) love each other, or at least, if one of them really means to hit on him, and not be loved back. This book is really great and has a lot of different genres enrolled into one book, including shonen-ai romance, action, cops, comedy, and yes, MEN IN UNIFORM! This is a great read, and the farther you read the book, the more ingaged you become to its plot and story. Keep in mind, this does have shonen-ai (yaoi) action.
