Summary: This is a huge tease!
Review: "This is a huge tease!" At least that is what I thought when I first flipped through the first few volumes. Once again I was on a quest to find some substancial yaoi. Having been a bit dissapointed with Demon Diary and Eerie Queerie. And I'll say this now because I was shocked TokyoPop even printed something remotely as graphic as Fake. Who knew Ryo and Dee had it in them ^_^. So that being said, if that didn't scare you off, that's quite the reason why I bought the series.
My second thought after feeling sorry for Dee and wanting to tie Ryo to the bed and let Dee have his way with him was is the plot even there? Flipping through it, the story makes no sense, all of a sudden Ryo has Bikky and the next thing you know there is a girl named Carol popping out of nowhere. ((I was seriously just flipping through it to see if there was any---well...)) Then there was volume seven. I bought the entire series that day and I was quite surprised. I actually didn't think I would enjoy it that much.
I know I'm getting long winded, but you won't regret it. The story is funny with lots of sexual tension and a bit of drama. I kinda wish it had been longer. Oh! It mostly centers on Dee and Ryo's relationship so that all that cop stuff really doesn't overwhelm the series at all, just in case you were wondering.

Summary: Hell of a good Page Turner...
Review: ... even if you have to turn the pages in true Manga format! But that only adds the ultimate touch for this great series. I can't wait for the remaining volumes to be published in english because I'm just not learning Japanese fast enough! Thai and Lao, I've got, but Japanese??!? This is not for the underage, but that is how it is with most true Manga. Not for the closed minded: they just wouldn't get it! Special thanks (or curses) for my cousin for getting me hooked on this genre!

Summary: Terrific and refreshing!
Review: Fake is a terrific manga, espically for all of those yaoi/shounen ai lovers out there. The story line is intriguing and humorous...I laughed out loud several times! Two cops in a fumbling and awkward relationship, and LOADS of U.S.T. (Unresolved Sexual Tension) The characters are absolutley loveable as well.

One thing that really stood out in my mind however, is the art. For one thing, I love, love, LOVE the way Matoh san drew their hands. They were so realistic compared to so many other manga that I've read. Also, Fake lacks your sterotypical femme-uke-boys. The two main characters actually look closer to real men than any other yaoi manga I've seen. I really enjoyed that, it's quite a refreshing change of pace. :) And the setting is in New York, which, of course, is in America. You don't see a whole lot of manga out there that take place in America, of all places.

Overall this is an exellent and different manga that is well worth the money.

Summary: If i had ten thumbs, they would all be up for FAKE!
Review: FAKE is one of the best manga series out there. It has action, hot steamy romance, and it's hilarious! Fall in love with Dee and Ryo in these exciting books that just makes you want to scream for more!!

Summary: Fake is great.
Review: First of all, a little lesson: the term "Shonen Ai" does not refer to gay manga, it's simply manga that has pretty boys in it. *Yaoi* is gay male manga. FAKE is yaoi. So there.

The *romantic* side of the plot is, admittedly, addictive... however, Matoh has absolutely no sense whatsoever of how Americans behave with regard to sexuality in public... hello? Since when do gay men not only proclaim their sexuality to every fellow policeman they meet, but also get away with it? NO ONE EVER REACTS. They just let it slip by. Unless this is supposed to be some idealistic reality in which gay people have no fear of persecution, it's complete B.S. It's annoying that the story is set in New York City, yet obviously no actual research was done into American society -_-

Yet for all its flaws, I'm on the 5th book *scratches head*. The characters are well-made and interesting, and if you can get past the cultural ignorance, you should at least give it a chance.

Summary: It's about time!
Review: I am so happy Fake is finally out in America. This is very funny and well done manga. I can finally read this without having to search the internet for translations. I can't wait for the rest of the series to come out. I'm going to buy them all.

Summary: Fake's a lot of fun and that's enough
Review: I know some people really want to know that what they are buying is an all out masterpiece before they will spend what little money they have on it, and that's okay, this isn't a masterpiece. Nausicaa Valley of the Wind, Akira, Ranma (yes I think Ranma is a masterpiece of the comedy genre), and Please Save My earth are just a few true masterpieces to behold but this is still worth a lot too, worth the money to spend it on that is.
Its funny, yes there's a lot slapstick, but sometimes we all need slapstick and just plain fun. And yes it involves a guyXguy relationship, if that is a problem for you go away and I hope you grow up someday. For all that have no problem with that this is definitely a great buy well worth every penny. ^__^

Summary: Hooked Newby Fanwoman
Review: I read Fake Volume 1 over the weekend, and was instantly hooked and am tracking down all available future volumes. Good plot, art work, police detail and my favorite bit, romance between the two main characters. Recommended for ages 16 + which I agree with, as the subject matter is beyond trite boy/girl relationships. Mature readers looking for a new kind of action/romance in manga will enjoy this series. How could you not be crazy for Dee and Ryo?!!!

Summary: w00t!
Review: I thought this day would never come while I was alive, but it has! Tokyopop finally took the stick out their rear and released some shounen-ai! Woohoo! It's nice to see they aren't only turning out all wimpy stuff... Well this is what I have to say about this manga, BUY IT ALL! It is sooooooo hilarious. I mean I read it during school, and people were giving me weird looks because I would burst out laughing in the middle of chemistry class... Back on topic, I guess I wouldn't recommend this book for you if homosexuality makes you nervous, doh. The story is about two NY detectives who fall in love, bla bla you can read the summary at the top. Unlike some shounen-ai and yaoi, this actually has a plot! Whee! Some parts are so touching, and so far, most of it is just silly! I really don't see how you could go wrong with this one... But I guess I should also say, don't get this kids under like 13, cuz of the language and gestures. Tokyopop says it's for 16+, but I think 13 year-olds can definitly handle it.
