Summary: Quesada remains among the brilliant...
Review: Sometimes a comic comes along that is so well devised that it sweeps you into a world of spandex clad super heroes with egos to match their tights, but then there is the truly rare epic; the story that travels inside the mind and history of a certain tortured man that explains why they are the way they are. Origin is certainly the most succesful attempt at the latter I have ever seen. Quesada plot unfolds like a novel before the lush slick computer imagery, seemlessly and effortlessly. However the story is so succesful in explaining the stereotypical maneurisms that 'Logan' has possessed over his history, that is seems to border on rediculous and at points it seems that you are reading a synopsis not a full text. The story could have been executed much better with the addition of a few issues to explore the alternate character plot lines, especialy Dog's. Likewise the ending of the book is rather reminescent of something that would occur in a cheesy horror film, the elusive main character disapears into the woods not to be discovered for some time... but what about when he is discovered? Origins begs for a sequel, yet by the general feelings of hesitation that emit from the opening and closing statements of the trade paperback I doubt that Marvel would do such an endevour and they scramble to make up for the Clone Saga(yes even this is mentioned in the foreward). All in all for a recent Marvel work Origin is a diamond among coal; the art is somehow inpersonal though, most likely due to the slick coloring and polishing that computer animation provides. The chapter illustrations provided by Joe Quesada and Richard Isanove shine and serve to seperate the issues of the miniseries brilliantly, some of the pictures like "Dust to Dust" are so breath taking that I found it hard to turn the page. The intricacy with which Quesada works is a wonderful change from the sloppy writing that is so often contained in modern comics, the story is well executed and the art work captivating; definitely a good buy.

Summary: Some people just dont get it
Review: For those of you expecting to read Wolverines origin, you were mistaken, this is not Wolvirines origin, this is the origin of the man whom we know as Wolverine, this is the origin of the man, James Howlett who became Wolverine. If you want Wolverine's origin, buy Barry Windsor Smith's Weapon X, there you see the feral, adamantium laced, and trajic figure of Wolverine, the victim of savage experiments and berserker rage.
Origin is about where "Logan" came from, his humbling begining as a sick young boy who could barely hurt a butterfly into a young adult who becomes self efficient and more resembling the "Logan" we all know today.
What really bugs me about those who cried "dont tell the story, we want the mistery!" and gave bad reviews because they learned nothing, i guess you got what you wanted then, didnt you? Just adding to the mistery i guess...
And ofcourse they didnt tell everything, what? you thought they didnt know they would have an instant hit! and not save anything for a second part? shame on you all.
...
Sure part of the story lags in part when he goes to the mines, so what?! We see James grow up into [the person] we know as Wolverine and see how begins to adopt the underdog role he's had since his beginings.
Kudos to everyone at Marvel...

Summary: O.K.
Review: This story, though well worth the money, was a disappointment for me. Yes, I could understand that it was telling the story of Wolverine's child/teen years, but I expected a story line that would explain more of how Wolverine finds his past. Buy this book for what it is, a telling of the life of Logan and Co.

Summary: A good story
Review: I've never be a fan of Wolverine, but when I saw this on the book shelf, I decided to check it out. The artwork alone is worth the cash, and the story is pretty good.
This follows Wolvie through his tragic childhood up to his early twenties. The first issue is so-so, but it has a great twist halfway through.
This book is worth the mulah, so pick it up.

Summary: Disappointing
Review: If you expected to learn how Wolverine got his admantium skeleton, his true relation to Sabretooth, the peculiarities of his mutated healing powers, his affinity for the Orient, and other pivotal pieces of Wolverine lore, don't look for it in this slow-paced dismal book. Wolvie's just another hero who is - gasp!! - brooding over his daddy's unfortunate demise. Hint to Marvel writers: Freud did write more than one paragraph in his life, maybe you should try doing the same. Equally disappointing was the notion that so healthy and robust an adult started life as a sickly teenager, as if his homestead or uncaring mother were to blame (none of which is made clear by the book). I quit reading X-Men titles around 1985, at number 189 of "The Uncanny X-Men" series. Friends tell me that I've missed a lot of revelations in the intervening years and titles. Nevertheless, to call this the definitive origin of Wolverine seems misleading.

Summary: Wolverine's Origin
Review: I have to admit, I was skeptical... I mean recreating an origin for the most mysterious character? Being a die-hard X-man fan I decided I'd buy this and give it a look... And I have to say... I am amazed. I don't know how but they created a perfect story for retelling the origin of wolverine... It ties in with everything that you already know, but also adds the details you've always wanted to know... If you want a great story full of equally amazing artwork... Buy this now.

Summary: A Disappointment
Review: For all the hype over this "untold" origin story, I found it to be a let down. This is not a Wolverine story. It is a gothic horror/romance that actually raises more questions than it answers. To me, the character in this tale seems completely disconnected from the comic character as we know him. If you're looking for insights into Wolverine, you won't find them here.

Yes, the art is good, and the story does throw in a few twists, but ultimately I found it to be one big downer. In the end, nothing is really resolved, character and plot threads are left dangling, and no one ends up happy. When I finished reading, I felt depressed and unenlightened. That's why I can't really recommend it.

Summary: Well Done
Review: First off, this book's art is breath taking and would be a good buy just for that. But when the story is read, it feels like a steal.
The story of Wolverine is a great one. Twists and confusion, maybe a little too much, they could have been a lot more clearer about what happened. And certain questionis might arise while reading this, but except for that is a great buy. And for me who is not too big a comic book fan, it's saying something. Hats off to the author and even more the artist.
Get it now!

Summary: Good, but not a Wolverine story
Review: This is an incredible story. There are great twists, beautiful art, and great a plot...There is only one problem...it really is not a Wolverine story. This makes a great stand alone novel, but for Wolverine fans looking for his past, it tried too hard to get everything into one story. Make no mistake, it is still evry good, but if you are a big Wolverine fan, don't expect too much, only a good story. For those wo are not huge Wolverine fans, a DEFINATE must have.

Summary: best thing marvel has ever done
Review: I'm not a big fan of marvel comics. I like comics that are more adult centered, such as those of the DC/Vertigo universe. i've read a few wolverines, x-men and the like, so i did know a little about wolverine coming into this. the point is, marvel could not have done a better comic. the art's good. the story is perfect. if there is a better marvel comic out there, i've yet to read it.
