Summary: It actually surpassed my expectations for once
Review: I bought FAKE at the recommendation of a friend and I now own the three volumes that are currently out and am eagerly awaiting the third! Pretty strange, considering that I'm usually a very cautious buyer. Sanami Matoh does a wonderful job of giving the characters depth and distinctive personalities, and the storyline is clever, weaving between several main and secondary characters. I'm kind of new to yaoi and all that myself, but so far I can honestly say that I enjoy this series very much due to it having an actual plot and the art being so gorgeously dynamic and active. Overall, I would highly recommend this manga for people who can tolerate the idea of a homosexual relationship and enjoy a good dose of humour with their (action driven) plot.

Review: I couldn't help but grin while reading this volume. The story just keeps getting better as the series progresses. If you liked volumes 1 and 2, then you'll love this one. There are few comedy manga titles out there, even less that are the same humor wave-length as me. This one is right on target. I plan to get the rest of the series. Great manga!
By the way, if you are uncomfortable with guy-guy love, this is not a title for you.

Review: I just fell madly in love with this series. I've read a fair amount of shounen-ai and yaoi lately, and so far, FAKE is my favorite by a long shot. It has plot, humor, and drama to go along with the romance. And the characters...ah, the characters...they are what makes this series so great. They are well-developed and likeable. The two leads are a little older than the average manga characters...which I find refreshing (being an older-than-average manga reader). The relationship moves slowly (prepare to be teased a lot)...but it's very sweet. This story has some of the most touching scenes I've ever seen. As far as the artwork, the men actually look like men for once! I highly recommend this series. However, if you have a problem with two men in a romantic relationship, you'll want to stay away. If you've never read shounen-ai before and are curious, this would be a great series to start off with.
