Summary: Revenge of Watterson
Review: This is an excellent book; Bill Watterson did a fine job. Yet, what I noticed after reading it for the millionth time is that this book, and "Scientific Progress Goes 'Boink'" are put together to make "The Indispensable Calvin and Hobbes." Of course, this is only a collection and "The Indispensable Calvin and Hobbes" is a treasury, but I wish I had saved my money and bought Indispensable instead.

Summary: Classic
Review: This is probably my favorite C&H collection -- though "Something Under the Bed is Drooling" would be a close second. I didn't like "Baby-Sat" much when I first read it (compared to previous collections, I mean) but it has since grown on me. Watterson's art hits its stride here -- it is smooth and polished, without the occasionally pretentious formal experimentations of the later books (not that those are all bad, but they grate sometimes). There are some classic cartoons in this collection -- I think the "Chocolate Frosted Sugar-Bombs beanie" story is one of the very best. Look at the way Calvin keeps getting his hopes up, over and over again, only to have them dashed -- and yet there is a kind of solace at the end. This is as funny, sad and wise as the best of "Peanuts."

Summary: One of Bill Watterson's best!
Review: This was published at, of my point of view, the pinnacle of Bill Watterson's career. A book jam- packed with sledding adventures, water baloon wars and almost every thing amaginable of the inseperable duo. A real must for Calvin and Hobbes fans, or those just introduced to the strip.
