Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Yummy Review: Dear god, I love this series! It looks like Sanami Matoh refined her drawing style between the first and second books. A big improvement, if you ask me. The only thing I tend to not like about this volume is that it tended to get riciculous at times, but that's more than made up for by great kissing scenes. ;DJust wait 'til volume 7... *snicker*
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: I'm so in love with this series... Review: I just fell madly in love with this series. I've read a fair amount of shounen-ai and yaoi lately, and so far, FAKE is my favorite by a long shot. It has plot, humor, and drama to go along with the romance. And the characters...ah, the characters...they are what makes this series so great. They are well-developed and likeable. The two leads are a little older than the average manga characters...which I find refreshing (being an older-than-average manga reader). The relationship moves slowly (prepare to be teased a lot)...but it's very sweet. This story has some of the most touching scenes I've ever seen. As far as the artwork, the men actually look like men for once! I highly recommend this series. However, if you have a problem with two men in a romantic relationship, you'll want to stay away. If you've never read shounen-ai before and are curious, this would be a great series to start off with.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Snobby Fangirl gets her come-uppance... Review: I used to turn my nose up at slash, I admit it. I bought this book based on a reccommendation from a teen librarian and...well, I'm a changed woman now. Ryo and Dee are wonderful and engaging, and I love watching their sweet romance unfold. There's just enough plot and action to satisfy my literary fangirl side, too. If you're wondering what all the fuss is about...pick this up and find out. You'll be hooked.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Very good...*evil grin* indeed. Review: Okay, before I begin, I am not a yaoi fangirl, so this would be quite an interesting review for those of you who are interested in investigating shonen-ai. First off, this is one of the best mangas I've read. It contains humor, romance, action, and some supernatural themes. The humor can be sometimes a bit crude, but like the movie Anger Managment, I'd prefer to call it "offensively humorous". The fact that this is one shonen-ai comic that doesn't revolve around romance makes it pretty special. Also, the artwork is very well done. Not Miyazaki outstanding, but definitely a few levels beyond good. The only thing is this: this manga will be offensive (especially the seventh volume) to people who do not agree with homosexuality. Two thumbs up!
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Big fun Review: Randy "Ryo" Maclean is new to the New York Police Department and is partnered with the black sheep of the department, Dee Laytner. Their first mission together is to protect a young kid called Bikky whose father was murdered. When Bikky and Dee are kidnapped, it falls to Ryo to find them. Ryo is developing a crush on Dee, but he's getting mixed signals. So is Dee gay or just harmlessly flirting? Later, Carol, another street punk and a friend of Bikky, comes under the protection of the two policemen and causes more confusion in their tentative relationship. Or is it all in Ryo's imagination? This popular Japanese manga, finally available in America, is loaded with adventure, romance, and humor.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: These other reviews must be by children Review: The art work in this book is good except for the fact that all the characters look alike! Ryo and Dee are the same person only one has black hair and the other has blonde hair. How uncreative can you get? And the writing is absolutely boring. No good ideas or original ideas here. Just stories written by a child for children. The homosexual topic obviously is the hook that is selling this book.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Good shounen-ai with a strong plot Review: The FAKE anime was my first introduction to shounen-ai (aka "boys in love" but not graphically sexual) and still is my favorite. Since the anime left something to be desire (it only covers 2 manga chapters), I was both surprised and thrilled to hear that FAKE was made into a graphic novel so I could actually read more about the adventures of Ryo and Dee. This book is great on various levels. First, for girls (and guys) who like shounen-ai, there is the growing and tenuous relationship between the two main characters and the supporting characters (Bikky, Carol, and J.J.) who try to come between them. Second, there's the comedy of Dee trying to snare Ryo, the interactions between Dee and his boss, Bikky and Dee, and so on that's quite hilarious. Third, there's strong plots through all of the chapters: cops hunting down the wrong-doers and trying to save the day. The other reason that this is so good is because the translator did a great job of changing the text to fit English colloquialisms. I don't read Japanese so I can't comment on the quality of the translation, but the book flowed nicely and was relevant to life today in America. This is a definite reccomend. However, I would not reccomend this to someone who is homophobic or someone who does not like swears/sexual references. I believe the rating is 16+, so if any parents are thinking of this book as a gift, be aware that it is not meant for younger readers.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Good book...great art Review: The first time I read this manga was way back when in highschool when my Japanese language teacher gave us manga for us to practice reading with.It was actually in Japanese and it really got me hooked on Japanese manga, especially the Shounen Ai genre. It wasn't really smart for her to bring in some yaoi manga books, but hey, it was awesome. Though the translation really varies...and Tokyopop has a reputation for screwing up some mangas. All in all, the second book is awesome. There's mystery, action, adventure (...). The characters aren't that bad looking either. Sanami Matoh's art is awesome, though her child characters look mighty freaky with weird glass like eyes. There's a lot of humor and Sanami Matoh portrayed NY people perfectly! Although in the second book it goes on to the supernatural realm...ghosts and such, Matoh-san didn't overdo it. I strongly urge any Shounen Ai manga fans to buy this book. It's one of the most popular shounen Ai mangas out there.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Amazing Stuff. Review: This entire series is just awesome. You'll finish one book and just be begging for more. The writing is both amusing and interesting, and it has a nice blend of comedy and drama. I higly reccomend this to anyone who enjoys good manga.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: What a surprise! Review: Truthfully, I'd expected FAKE vol 1, but instead I got volume 2. Not that I minded of course, I already knew the story of vol 1 VERY well, so I wasn't a bit lost with 2. Anyway, this is not a series to miss. One of the most popular shounen-ai/yaoi manga around. What's more, it's got a plot! *faints* While the focus IS on Dee and Ryo's relationship, there's action and plenty of humor thrown into the mix as well. The pair is just too exciting, it's so much fun following them through their interrupted make-out sessions and Dee's mistimed attempts to jump Ryo's bones (well, more than his bones, but...). Volume two isn't my favorite of the seven, but considering how much I love FAKE, that's still saying a LOT. This is the only time FAKE dips into the supernatural realm, but Sanami Matoh carried it out with style. But hey, quite frankly, I'm in it for the sexy guys and hot kissing scenes. ^_~ A true rabid yaoi fangirl indeed.
