Summary: I LOVE YU WATASE!!!!
Review: Okay, here we go. What can I say Yu Watase has done it again. With her flawless artistery and concept based storylines, her stories alway promise yet another incredible adventure. Basically, in her newest brain child, Alice 19th, a girl by the name of Alice(Wow big surprise, huh?)embarks on a journey to realize her own inner strength. Unlike Watase-san's previous manga the main female character isn't vivacious or delightfully blunt, but rather a timid, loner, who lives in the shadow of her older, more fiesty sister, Mayura. Of course there is an exceedingly sexy main male character, whose name is Kyo, and also some romantic rivarly (take a big guess. . . hot guy,two sisters and more). Personally, I felt that this first installment did a magnificient job of providing the background information for the rest of the series, however, it seemed to move at a slower pace than that of her previous manga. Another difference in this series were noticable changes in her art, although all the men and women involved are still quite beautiful, she seems to have 'modernized' the art than sticking with her trademark detail in her classical technique shown for example in Ayashi no Ceres. Well I guess that is neither here nor there, since her change still has not maimed the stunning quaility of her manga. This is definitely a must read, especially for those who enjoyed her previous works such as Ayashi no Ceres and Fushigi Yuugi. ...

Summary: wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: The best Manga ever!!!!! Well the basic story revolves around alice; A meek, quite heroin who is completely in love with Kyo. You see she was walking to school, and saw a bunny in the middle of the road. No one else cared, but Alice couldn't just let it die. So she jumped and caught it as a car was hurdling towards it. She would have died if Kyo hadn't pushed her out of the way. See she knew Kyo from her sister's archery class, but never had the courage to talk to him. Okay the bunny turns out to be a half girl/bunny who's there to tell alice about the lotis words(long story, you'll have to read it). Now back to Kyo, her sister is also in love with him! But Kyo doesn't know who he likes, plus Alice just can't tell him how she feels. You'll never be able to put this down untill the end, where you'll want to reread it over and over (I've already read it 12 times). It's a story of love, mysterious forces, and gut splitting comedy( I laughed so hard I fell off my bed, and in some parts cried despearetly).

Summary: Just one word: WOW!
Review: The first thing that told me I should read it was the fact that it was a Yu Watase manga. Yu Watase is a fantasic writer and artist. I recommand this seres and the Ceres seres!

Unlike most mangas, Alice 19th uses words and little fighting. It when you first pick up this g.n. it seems a little dull. BUT it isn't! Alice is always out shined by her older sister Mayura. Alice comes off a little shy because she's afried that her words will hurt someone. Now for the romance! Mayura and Alice are "into" the same guy, Kyo! Alice wanted to tell Kyo that she loved him, but she was too afried to knowing that her sister felt the same way... Kyo and Mayura start to date, but Kyo seems more worried about Alice's feelings (even though he doesn't know that Alice is in love with him) than the fact that he's girlfriend is in pain. And to top it all off: this whole thing started over a half rabbit half girl being named Nyozeka! Nyozeka is Alice's guild to becoming a Lotis Master! If you dont buy this book for it's great plot, romance, and to know how words can hurt or help. Than buy it for the funny faces that the characters make. Till next time!!

Summary: Confusing
Review: This was a rather romantic book, while also containing an element of cuteness. But it was quite confusing! There were a lot of conversations where certain responses and sudden bursts of emotion didn't make sense, and the whole "Lotis Master" thing wasn't explained very well. Maybe there is a much-needed explaination in a future book, but I'm not really interested in reading further books. The story was good, as I said, but besides being very confusing, there just wasn't that "thing" to the story that made me excited about it. I also think that there was something unattractive about Kyo. His face didn't have that certain look to it that makes manga guys so cute. But even though my opinion of him was kind of bad at first, I got to like him better further into the story.

Overall, an okay book. I'm glad I checked it out from the library before I bought it. I didn't enjoy it as much as I've enjoyed "Tokyo Mew Mew", "Peach Fuzz", and "Zodiac P.I.". Maybe I'm just more one for cute manga, but it's still hard to get into the story when you're not following everything.

Parents, note that there is also some content that you may not find appropriate. Alice's sister seems to be the character that Yu Watase wanted to make most desirable to any male readers, because she shows her once in a loosely buttoned shirt and underwear, and then in a kind of short towel. The part where a boy trys to make Alice kiss him using force may bother some parents, too. But hey, that's why it's rated T for teens and not Y for youth.

Summary: Very good!
Review: When I first picked Alice 19th up I was thinking to myself, "Hummm... Yu Watase ... not my favorite author... too romancy..." But I bought it anyway just to give it a try since I had with Ayashi no Ceres and Fushigi Yuugi(by the way . . . if you see the FY anime, I highly recommned Japanese with Subtitles otherwise you'll hate it! But the manga's cool)Well I was instantly pulled into the story by Alice's dilemma with her own feelings becauase unlike Miakas or Ayas it just seemed more real and palpable. There were parts where I actually wanted to tear up because they tugged at my heart strings. And now I'm anticipating the next volume, because this one just leaves you hanging there with a small twitch in your undereye. But don't let that throw you off, because if cliffhangers discouraged people, Lord of the Rings would have never become to popular. It's a very good manga, the story line has a few cliche's that resemeble Watase's previous works, but otherwise you'll see no resemeblence between Aya/Miaka and Alice. Watase's art as also matured and perfected in it's beauty. If you thought Fushigi Yuugi was gorgeous, you'll fall head over heels in love with the Alice artwork. This is an A class manga that any girl, and maybe a few open minded guys, can really get into. It deals with real problems while also incorporating magical fantasy into the mix. As a fan of Japanese Anime and Manga for over seven years now, I highly recommend this as a must have for any manga fans collection.

Summary: One of Watase's BEST
Review: When I first read a little about this online, I was interested but not thrilled. Then, in late Novemer, I picked up the first volume, fairly eagerly. Needless to say, I was blown away. The art is beautiful, the story is awsome, the characters are great. It's not as angsty of some of Watase's other stuff, to. Compared to Fushigi Yugi, I would even say it's a bit better. She just keeps imprvoing.

The story is romantic, hysterical, and mystical! Check it out!
