Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: A manga fan Review: I think that this book is really basic. Unless you are just starting out, you really don't need this book. However, if you are just staring out and want to draw faves then this is the book for you. The author goes into great detail on the faces (exept for the fact that she only draw knoses in one small section). She does, however, skimp on the bodies. She doen't actually show you haw to draw them. This is a good book though, and it's a necesity for beginners.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Horrible teaching tool Review: If you are serious about becoming an artist, DO NOT PURCHASE THIS BOOK. It will do nothing but hurt you. It does not go into the very important details of drawing, and without these things you will never get anywhere. Katy Coope is not an accomplished manga artist, so therefore has NO FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE... I purchased this book when I started out and have spent 3 YEARS RECOVERING my drawing style.
A definate PASS for anybody who is thinking about buying this...
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: my kid loves this book and so do I! Review: My 12 year old hasn't stopped drawing since we picked up this book. I've taught art to all ages and happen to be a working artist myself, and I was really impressed at the good basic training kids can glean from this simple, engaging how-to book. Ms. Coope shows an aptitude for teaching that I think is exceptional for a teen! Kids and even beginning adults can enjoy these tips on creating thier own manga. The amount of fun and learning young artists will get from this very helpful and inspiring little book make the cover price a great value.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Not for any REAL manga fans... Review: No offense to people who disagree, but this book is completely for amateurs. My friend bought this at a school book fair and she gave it a shot, and she liked it. For a little while. It's okay for little kids, but it can often confuse them. True mangakas will scoff at how it concentrates mostly on inproportionate chibis. The pictures on the cover may look good, but after looking at them for a while you'll realize how unprofessional they look. And did I mention that they're mostly in colored pencil? The only reason I gave this two stars instead of one is that you don't have to worry about 'anatomy lessons' for the upper half of a female, if you know what I mean. So you can buy it for a kid with no worries. But other than that, it's only worth the price of the paper in it.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Beginner's art Review: This book I purchased at the reading fair at my school. I read it and realized it was a waste of 7.00$. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't for me. I had already trained myself in manga art, and this book is for beginners. Experienced artists will find this droll and useless. The art is mediocre, and my sister, who was at the time, 17, was not pleased that a 17 year old who wasn't as good as she herself was, got a book deal. this is a perfect beginners book, and a good tool, but if you are looking for artwork of excellence, advanced techniques, or special tips, don't bother.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: the best drawing book i ever bought Review: this book is good for starters and pro's learn to draw easy step by step buy it now is worth it trust me i have it and i like it so don't wait another minute there buy it now!(...)
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Okay Review: This book is okay, so I've given it three stars. It's fine for beginners, but the drawing style's a bit annoying and there are a few art mistakes. Also, for those who are more aware of differences, the style is more animé than manga.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Draw Manga Now! Review: This book is really well written! It shows you step by step of drawing manga. Don't be scared because you are bad at drawing, just buy the book and you have confident in yourself. I think we should all buy this book and bring the word manga to a whole new level! So buy it now and show off how good of a drawer you are! Who cares if you're not good at it at the first time, just keep on trying until you are a master of manga! Don't just stand there, buy this book! GO!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Very good book easy to follow!!! Review: This book is very good, though the graphics are not professional, still they have great quality and makes it easier to follow and do. This book is perfect for the beginner of manga or anime drawing. I found this book very easy to follow with drawings showing each step of the way and it also showed ideas of doing backgrounds, different postions of eyes, head, hair, mouth and bodies. Very helpful!!!
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Smart to start off with this, not smart to advance with it Review: This book is very helpfull for beginers and helped me a great deal to learn the very basics. The lack of professional quality is good and bad simply because it does not intimidate younger readers, but lacks a variety of essential knoledge needed for for middle and high quality drawings. I must recomend this book to people who need a boost to start. When I first started drawing I was limited because I had no tecnique, and when I read this book I had a entirely larger understanding of simple animating rules and my works imedialy improved. I have Now been drawing for three years and I have become a winner of several art contests and my drawings are near proffessional quality. BUT, this book ONLY helped me get started. For artists of no or little experience, THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU!! But for artists with a lust to advance, go for a book done by a proffesional.
