Summary: Get Fuzzy...
Review: ...Is one of the most hilarious cartoons I have ever read, right up there with Calvin and Hobbes, and Foxtrot. Conley is an amazing artists and his writing is also very good. The characters of Satch and Bucky are right on with what pets would say if they could talk. And no, he did not rip off Garfield. For one thing this is about ten times as witty, funny, and intelligent as Garfield is. Cannot recommend it enough.

Summary: Man walked into a bar....
Review: ..clang - it was an irony bar.
I note that some of your US reviewers prefer comic strips that smack the joke into your face and so have a down on Conley's style. Ah, it's a free world (some of it, anyway)
I buy my GetFuzzy books from the UK Amazon operation, and thoroughly enjoy the gentle humour and irony that features through the entire stream, not to mention the most welcome references to Rugby.
So far as this Anglo-Celt is concerned, Fuzzy, Pearls and Dilbert are the three essential food groups for a balanced comic diet!

Summary: A rapidly worsening series
Review: About a year and a half ago, a comic collection at a bookstore caught my eye which was the first Get Fuzzy collection. I bought it on a whim and loved it. It was witty and full of truisms to anyone who lived with cats and dogs. Fast forward to 2003 to the third collection of Get Fuzzy comic strips and one can sense the downward spiral this once promising strip has.

All the elements seem to be there for a good collection. Darby Conley's drawing has tightened up and gotten much better since the beginning. A nemesis for Bucky arrives in the form of Squiggly the ferret. 9/11 themed strips and a storyline that follows Satchel getting hit by a bike starts to give the comic more dimension.

But somewhere along the way, the jokes and comic timing went horribly awry. The setup for a punchline comes up and either goes off into left field, doesn't work, or gets degraded to a literal interpretation of a phrase (example - Joe is making jerk chicken and Bucky proclaims "Hey what chicken isn't?"). There's maybe only three or four strips in the whole book with any real comic punch (example - Bucky is reading "To Kill a Mockingbird". Rob says "Buck, I'm happy that you're reading, but you know that's not a how-to book, right?". Bucky replies with "Oh... I thought it was a little off topic..."). It's a bit disturbing to find a comic strip artist running out of material when he's just getting started in the business.

It's also a bit disturbing to find most of the characters turning one-dimensional. Rob seems nothing more than Bucky's harrowed owner with little else to say than backtalk. What happened to his outside life to give us a sense of well-rounded personality?

I remember telling people about this discovery of mine. Now this discovery has turned sour and I don't feel the need to continue the Get Fuzzy experience anymore.

Summary: Madness! Absolute Madness!
Review: Darby Conely's characters and their interactions are a work of comedy genius. It is impossible for me to read "Get Fuzzy" without howling with laughter. Bucky Cat is a lunatic. Although we have a general idea that he is a semi-violent egomaniac with a twisted perspective, his actions and passions are absolutely unpredictable. One can't help but love and feel for Satchel the Dog. He's sweet and loveable and not very bright. Rob the human is caught in the middle of the interplay between these two.

I gave a copy of this and another of Darby Conley's "Get Fuzzy" collections to my mother when she was recovering from an operation to remove a cancerous tumor from her lung. She loved it; and it raised her spirit so much that it eased her recovery. Laughter is indeed the best medicine!

Summary: The cover says it all...
Review: I had to beg a friend of mine to loan me this hilarious new installment of the "Get Fuzzy" books, and from the minute i saw the cover-a spoof on an old Jimi Hendrix album cover, complete with a TU-NA belt buckle for Bucky and a doggie 'fro for Satchel-I knew it was going to be nothing short of hilarious. The book is also full of great illustrations, a definate added bonus to this witty publication. I love Bucky's looks of pure intrigue, and his fang, while Satchel serves up ignorance and sweetness with his gazes.

Now, I've read reviews of other "Get Fuzzy" books and the thing they seem to be lacking is at least a few of the side-splitting scenarios "the get fuzzy experience" has to offer. Here are some of my favorites:

-A trip to the video store, where Bucky accuses Rob of only wanting to rent "full-frontal nudity" films, and Satchel's subsequent disappointment that he can't rent "Benji" again.
-Satchel chasing a bike and hurting his paw. And then, after the agonizing stiches, he finds out he's lost his watch.
-And, of course, Satchel at a support group for dog's with fleas, as he proclaims, "Hi, my name is Satchel, and I have fleas."

"The Get Fuzzy Experience" is a real treat to anyone who's a fan of the comic stip, and even to newcomers of the droll trio.

Summary: more funny antics of the "Get Fuzzy" crew
Review: I love this cartoon strip, so everytime a new book of cartoons is released, I am overjoyed. This compilation continues the crazy antics of Roger, Bucky and Satchel. If you are an animal lover, you can't afford to miss these characters. If you aren't, you will still be entertained and amused at the interactions among cat, dog and human. Being a cat owner for many years, I tend to favor the Bucky character since he typifies the antics of my cat (Scully). Although my cat doesn't talk or use my credit card (yet) there are many similarities between Bucky and regular felines. The attitude, the physical demeanorare very real. Poor Satchel seems to be not so bright, but is a lovable character who seems provide stability to the household and keeps Bucky in check. Roger seems to have infinite patience and keeps his cool amid the chaos the two non-humans create, stoically playing whipping boy for Satchel and Bucky.

I highly recommend this comic strip and especially the compilations that have been released (I believe this is the fourth). Bucky and company will bring you many hours of smiles and chuckles that are gauranteed to relieve depression.

Summary: Get Fuzzy
Review: I really love this comic book series! It's all about a normal young bachelor type guy putting up with his pets. These two pets are as different as day and night. Satchel is the sort of slow but lovable dog, who is constantly being tormented by Bucky the Cat. Bucky is probably one of the most hard to deal with cats you can have. Plus, he talks. He asks to be called by the nickname Shirley, but also isn't too smart. (Got a 1 on an IQ test) I think that this is definitely a great comic to read, and to get it if you like that sort of thing!
