Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Truly amazing. Needent I say more. :P Review: Fruits Basket (or Furuba as it's known to many fans) is a truly amazing manga. From the title of it, you would expect it to be very hentai-ish, but it's not. In my opinion it has to be the cleanest manga that one can possibly stand. (IE it's not so clean and happy go lucky as Hamtaro *shudders* Hamataro is evil, pure evil). Well I got off track. This review has spoilers abound so beware if you haven't read the manga (or seen the anime). Fruits Basket is about a girl name Tohru Honda a girl with a heart of gold and truly a wonderful person, whoes father died when she was very young. She is now 16, her mother had just died in a car wreck, and she went to live with her grandpa on her fathers side. (Because her mother and she were not exactly on speaking terms with her mothers side of the family). Her grandfather has to get his house remoldeld for some distant relatives on his side of the family so Tohru has to move out for a while. He told her to find some friends to stay with. Not wanting to be a burden to any of her friends Tohru decides to rough it, and she finds a tent and campsout for about a week, on the Sohma familys property (not knowing of course). One day while walking to school she comes across the Sohma family household. She looks around in it for a while and comes across some stones with the Chinese Zodiac on it. Than she run's into Shigura (who is the year of the dog) and Yuki (her high-schools "Prince" He is the year of the rat) Later on in the story we are introduced to Kyou (the year of the cat, who is not in the zodiac because he was betrayed by rat). And this is where the trouble starts. The Sohma family is cursed and therefore whenever they are touced or huged by a member of the opiset sex of someone NOT in there family, they turn into the animal that they are the year of. Tohru finds out this secret, and therefore she might have to have her memories erased from her. What will become of our poor Tohru? Find out when you read the manga! And belive me, you will. It is a must read. Now I odviously left out a lot of details from this manga, but I didn't want to give away the whole storyline, that would be quite dumb wouldn't it? Also this manga is printed in the original left to right reading format, therfore preserving the original artwork and sound-effects. It makes it even more enjoyable. All in all this manga is a must read. It's kinda of a comedy/romance, kind of. And it's shojo, so it's more or less going to be apealing to the femail gender a little bit more. That's not to say that a guy wouldn't like it. It has quite a bit of action in it (not like Trigun action) more martial arts action. But it is a must read. And I really hope my review helped. Do you believe it was written by a 16 year old? The reveiw I mean.

Review: Fruits Basket is one of the best manga I've read in years, hands down, and volume two is just as good as the first one. It is a little darker (perfectly balanced, though) and you get to dig deeper into some of the characters. You learn more about the Sohma family and about the curse, too. You won't regret adding this to your bookshelf!

For months people have been bugging the shirokiya store when their new shipment is going to be coming in. Finally fruits basket fans can reasure that it's finally in english. Fruits Basket is a game kind of like duck duck goose. Anyway it's about a very sweet yet naieve girl with a heart of gold name Tohru Honda. Her mother died in a car crash and moved in with her grandpa on her father's side. Though she didn't want to burden her grandpa, since the house is being rebuilt she decided to live in a tent, in the woods. Unknowingly the land she was staying on belonged to the Sohma clan. From then she learns of one of her most popular classmate's has a secret that nobody but some of the members of the sohma clan knows. 13 of the members of the sohma family turn into the spirits of the 12 zodiac animals including the cat. Since she learns of this secret she is offered to stay at the house in exchange for house keeping, cooking etc. If you've seen the anime you'll love the manga. From what a friend told me the anime is only about halfway though the manga series. Which is good, since in the manga we may see what happens after ep 26...or was it 25...oh well... And if it's completely similar to the anime you'll see the Prince Yuki Fanclub. Most of the female student body are in love with Yuki Sohma and have a huge grudge against Tohru because she's friends with him and not them.....hahaha...Anyway, they are literally obsessed with him. They made, Chibi Yuki keychain ornaments, hair clips, bobble heads, dolls, etc. This manga is excellent if you like girls manga like card captor sakura or comedy manga like tenchi muyo, and love hina.

Review: Fruits Basket or Furuba as it is known to fans, is something that many fans of manga have been anticipating for a long time. But I myself, had only just heard of it last December. I really had no idea what it was about even though I read about the anime and such. I expected it to be quite different from what it is. Fruits Basket, if you don't know, is about a girl named Tohru Honda whom is an orphan, and is currently living in a tent because her grandfather is fixing up his house so other relatives can live in it as well. She doesn't want to trouble anyone, so she decides to rough for those couple months in a tent. She ends up camping on the property of the Sohma family. A group of young men whom find her and decide to take her in for the night, but she soon finds out that they are a cursed family. Each of them represents a member of the Zodiac and one of them is the cat, the one who didn't get to go the banquet. :( Tohru has always been fascinated with the Zodiac and especially with the cat, she always wished that her sign could be the cat. She soon finds out about their curse and that when they are hugged by a member of the oppositte sex they turn into the Zodiac animal they represent. They decide not to erase her memory and let her stay with them, she does chores for them and cooks for them, and begins to feel quite at home. In fact, she feels so at home, she feels like it is her home. Needless to say, this is NOT what I had thought Fruits Basket was, but I found it very intriguing and fun to learn about the Chinese Zodiac. And the plot is pretty fluffy, but its all in good fun, and the characters are well developed and have their own personalities. The drawing style is nice too. All-in-all, I would say Fruits Basket is a quality Shojo manga, and lived up to my expectations by being something I completely did not expect and still turning out to be very good. I will continue to follow the series. :D God Bless ~Amy

If you read the description, you'd hear all about a zodiac curse and people turning into animals etc etc. What was unexpected about this series, was the deep emotions that are portrayed in it. It's something that most people can relate to at one point in their life. But it's not all drama, it's also full of comedy. It's amazingly upbeat and amazingly depressing all at the same time. Fruits Basket continues to be something I can read/watch over and over again. I never get tired of it.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Very touching story Review: I have been a fan of Fruits Basket for years and I'm very glad that the U.S. finally got the rights to translate this comic. I of course have read almost all of the comics in Japanese and Natsuki Takaya's drawing style remains very well drawn and I just can't help but love her clean-drawn style. In the beginning of the comics series the comic is very comical but has several very dark moments and later the story gets more and more like a drama and many characters that aren't in the anime version show up. I can still say that the whole series has funny parts and the story is very interesting...that's why I read them right? :) Recently here in Japan, the 14th volume was released and an art/illustrations book was released. The second volume has very funny moments including when Touru's friends spend the night at the Souma family's home...imagine trying to keep the Souma secret from them when it is so easily exposed by being bumped. Please enjoy this wonderful comic series that has finally been released in the U.S.! XD
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Tohru is a sweetie, here and in the anime Review: I have to admit that I got into Fruits Basket through the anime. I bought it from overseas before it was licensed here and suffered through the poor subtitling to enjoy the story. Then I bought the DVD's as they were released through Funimation and enjoyed them even more with a better translation and getting a chance to hear their fantastic dubbing job. Now, I get to enjoy the manga too. The story, for anyone who hasn't seen any of the anime, is very sweet, funny and serious too. It concerns Tohru Honda, a girl recently orphaned when her mom dies in a car accident, who is living in a tent at the start of the manga. The reason for this is that she has been staying with her grandfather but there are renovations being done on the house and instead of imposing on one of her friends and staying with them until the repairs are done, she instead decides to live in a tent on her own so she won't be a bother to anyone. She is discovered living there, as her tent is on the property of the Sohma family, one of whom is a schoolmate of hers. As neither Yuki or Shigure Sohma can cook well or take care of the housekeeping, they offer Tohru a place to stay in exchange for her taking care of the house. This might not seem like much of a story until you take into account something that Tohru comes to find out. Whenever certain memebers of the Sohma family are hugged by a member of the opposite sex, they transform into animals from the Chinese Zodiac. This may sound bizarre but if you take it in stride and read the manga solely for the stories that are told, you can get beyond this and see the magic that really takes place. Which, namely, is that love can heal almost anything. It is Tohru's love and kindness that really propel the stories and help people to see that they can live with the things that they can not change. Read the manga and get the anime, even if you only rent it, it's certainly worth it. I just wish they could get the manga out faster, I need more.
