Rating: Summary: awsome Review: this book is really funny. it seems a bit short but the humour and the storyline is worth it and the graphics are outstanding in all the Fushigi Yuugi books. a must buy for anime fans.(just save some for me)
Rating: Summary: A must read Review: i loved this book. it has excitement, adventure, action, romance and comedy. if that's not what you want in a book i don't know what. a book for everyone. i'm definetly looking forward to reading the next book in the series, the oracle.
Rating: Summary: Yu Watase does it again Review: Having previously read the first three novels, I had no doubt the fourth novel would be just as good. It exceeded my expectations. The manga seems to get better and better with each volume. Personally, this is my favorite volume since the bandit Tasuki is introduced (my favorite character). Miaka continues her quest to find the remaining Suzaku Senshi and runs into all sort of trouble. I highly recommend this volume as well as the rest of the series. Money well-spent.
Rating: Summary: Oh My God Review: What if all your wishes could come true? What if all you had to do was a simple task? What if you could have seven hot guys hovering over you? That is what Miaka, the main character of Fushigi Yugi: Priestess by Yu Watase thinks when she accepts her mission. She and her best friend Yui get sucked into a book and almost get sold into being a sex slave. A young man rescues her, introducing himself as Tamohome. He asks for money and the girls return to their own world. Miaka writes about the encounter in her diary and her mother sees it. Miaka' s mom gets mad because Miaka was supposed to be studying and slaps her. Miaka runs away from home and decides to return to the book because she wants to see that guy again. She eventually finds him and the emperor of the kingdom she is in, Konan, declares her the priestess of Suzuku for she is from another world. To get her wishes granted and to save his kingdom, she must find seven warriors who will protect her. Just then the book gets closed and Miaka can't return home. The book is the first of a series. The series deals with her finding the seven warriors and fighting with the priestess of Seriyuu and her warriors. It also deals with her learning to handle her warrior's feelings and healing their past. The book has everything: action, romance, and absolutely hilarious moments. It is 197 pages and it make you want to read the next very badly. The book and the series are five stars, without a doubt. Will Miaka ever get home?...

Rating: Summary: Absolutely Amazing Manga Review: Miaka Yuki is an ordinary junior high-school student who is suddenly whisked away into the world of a book, The Universe of the Four Gods. There she becomes the priestess of the god Suzaku, and is charged with finding all seven of her Celestial-Warrior protectors. I am amazed by this books ability to mesmerize you with its astonishing story and art. It is by far one of the best manga series that I have encountered. it is a MUST for any manga collector/reader. It has well deserved a five star rating.
Rating: Summary: cant wait 'till castaway Review: a stroke of pure luck that i even found this book where i live! (as if i hadn't been looking for it scince the very day it came out!) and even more i got it about five minutes after my best friend yui(yes, i am miaka) left the store happily engrosed in her own copy of the book! Tasuki is an absolute idiot in this book (which delieghted me all the more, as Yui has a major crush on him and my favorite nickname for him is 'mister mountain maggot'), Nakago FINALLY gets slapped by Yui and Tamahome ceases to hunt miaka in the hopes of killing her(although i will miss his evil smirk ^_^). this book leaves out most of the characters besides MiakA Tamahome and Hotohori, giving the secondary roles and essentially excluding them from the storyline, so it isn't my favorite book but it does set the mood for Castaway quite well, starting them on the quest for the Shinzoho(i know its not called that in the book, and, seeing as i am morrally opposed to the anime i don't know why i put that there.) in conclusion i think its worth the [money] but if i had my druthers i would have castaway come out instead of this.
Rating: Summary: Seemingly Excellent, Horribly Boring. Review: Let me just say that about 2 or 3 years ago when FY made it's first release in the US I was a huge fan. After reading all 18 volumes in the original Japanese and seeing all 52 eps. + OVA, I have to say that the series isn't as good as people tend to say it is. It's good when you first start out, but the characters tend to get really sappy (even for a shoujo manga..) and the plot starts to get boring. When you finish the series, you'll really love it, but the more you think about it, it's not all it's cracked up to be. If you've already seen the anime, don't even bother buying the manga, it's pretty much the exact same thing. Also, I'm not entirly sure why they used the Chinese names (Qu-dong, Hong-nan..?) I realize that this takes place in China, but the original Japanese used katakana characters in place of the names (Konan, Hokan..) as does the US release of the anime. When vol. 16-18 come out, I do recommend buying those if you are a fan of the anime because the anime only covers up to vol. 15. 16-18 are a side story. It's not a great story and it's dragged out (as is the rest of this manga..-_-;;). All in all, it's a very average manga. Towards the end it starts to get into deeper themes of true love and sacrifice and such which are actually pretty interesting. So, if you can tolerate a horribly annoying main char. (Miaka) and her horribly annoying boyfriend (Tamahome..yes, Tamahome fans don't even bother to flame me, he's not as great a char. as you may think. He's just plain mean to Miaka at the beginning, and then later he's horribly selfish when it comes to their relationship, so I don't want to hear it.)If you like Watase's works, stick to Ayashi no Ceres (yea, and it DOESN'T translate to Ceres: Celestial Legend -_-;;) for a better plot, LESS SAPPINESS, better characters, and more modern theme on things.
Rating: Summary: Great manga! Review: I personally love Fushigi Yugi! I just finished volume #5 and i can not wait till #6 comes out! This is definetly a manga for you if you like romance, comedy, adventure, and a whole lot more :-D And despite that it is a 'shoujo' or however u spell it manga (Which is a manga for girls) i know a whole buncha guys who also like it and find it really good! ^_^ So buy #1 cuz it's definetly a volume of FY that you will want to have, and read over and over again ^_~
