Summary: Great collection...
Review: ...unfortunately it's a bit expensive. I think it might be better to buy the individual volumes.

Summary: Complete. Far Side. What more is there to be said?
Review: I just managed to get my hands on a copy of the second printing, and boy, am I glad I did, and boy, am I sad I didn't earlier. The quality of the books is outstanding. They will surely last, so you can share the joys of The Far Side with your children's children. The "chapter" intros and little anecdotes help one apprieciate The Far Side even more.

All-in-all, a wonderful book, and well worth (close to) a hundred dollars.

Summary: But why did he change some of the captions?
Review: Well, at least one caption was changed. I had thought that some of the panels were worded differently than I remembered them, but was completely shocked when the cartoon of the slugs worshipping the salt shaker no longer read "Eeny Oony Wanny. Eeny Oony Wanny." It now says something like. "However, the slugs' faith in their god was based on fear, not love." C'mon, Gary! "Eeny Oony Wanny" was much funnier. What were you thinking? Don't get me wrong. I love the book, but purists beware.

Summary: Way too heavy
Review: Ok, I admit I am weak. But this thing is way too heavy.
Don' even think of bringing it on an airplane.

Buy an IPAQ.

Summary: It is great to have the complete farside collection
Review: A must have for all far side fans.

Summary: The ultimate Far Side collection
Review: THE COMPLETE FAR SIDE is a two-volume collection of every Far Side comic ever created. The volumes are beautifully bound, and the reproductions are first rate - perhaps better than they've ever looked anywhere. Most are black-and-white, but there are several color reproductions as well. Creator Gary Larson has arranged the comics year-by-year, occasionally providing a brief preface for a section, as well as a few letters he's received from readers over the years. The most hilarious preface concerns Larson's fear that a certain item in a drawing chosen for a book cover (the old lady's head on the cover of IN SEARCH OF THE FAR SIDE) looks phallic. The most unusual letter is from a member of the Sons of Italy, complaining about a comic where a sandwich named Luigi is sent to "sleep with the forth graders." Just a small taste of the diverse reactions this comic genius has elicited from people.

This one's definitely going on my wish list! :)

Summary: Second publishing this spring
Review: Like most people reading this review, I did not purchase my copy before it had sold out. Two days ago I emailed the publisher and they asured me that a second printing is currently in the works and will be available this spring. I know that is a long time to wait, but every bookstore I have tried is sold out. I did, however, look through my friend's copy and it's fantastic. A very large 2 volume set with tons of extras. It has pretty much everything he's done except for Prehistory of the Farside. It also is missing the colored mid-sections contained in his four books: Wiener Dog Art, Cows Of Our Planet, Unnatural Selections, The Curse Of Madame C, and the last couple pages of Last Chapter And Worse. Most of which you can pick up at half.com for 75 cents. If anyone is unfamiliar with the humor of Gary Larson, it is somewhat similar to the books DEEP THOUGHTS and THE DISTURBED WRITINGS OF ADAM COCHRAN.

Summary: A must for any far-side-freak.
Review: This book is awesome! I've only just gotten my copy (it was very hard to get in Australia as it had sold out everywhere) and I love it. Definitely a book to look at when you've got the blues.

Summary: Must-have collection!
Review: Out of 4,000+ comics, I can think of only two or three that fail to elicit at least a giggle from me. Genius work by Mr. Larson. Now if only they would publish a Complete Calvin and Hobbes...

Summary: Great Book
Review: I ordered this book as a holiday gift for my son and his wife, HUGE fans of The Far Side. We weren't disappointed. It was an extraordinary gift! And what a surprize. I highly recommend it.
