Summary: A thoroughly entertaining, "theatre of the mind" experience.
Review: On the morning of David Bruce Schumacher's sixeteenth birthday he decides to offically change his name to "The Blue Avenger" and become a secret chamion of the underdog, modest seeker of truth, fearless inovator of the unkown, end the slaughter of handguns and conquer the blight of weeping lemon meringue. The Adventures Of Blue Avenger is a thoroughly entertaining story presented in a lively, three audio cassette, unabridged and technically flawless production showcasing the narrative talents of John Beach who does complete justice to Norma Howe's superb tale. Total Time: 4 hours, 20 minutes.

Summary: Awesome and Endearing
Review: Simply put, this is a wonderful young adult's novel. It's engaging, funny, and mysterious. The main character's actions reach out to anyone who ever wanted to change their life in some dramatic way, and be reborn into, to quote the bard, a brave new world. The novel also adresses social, family, and philosophical issues in such a way that you find yourself interested and thinking thoughtfully without realizing it. The story inspires young people to change what they don't like, including themselves. This is a fantastic book, and I recommend to anyone who wants an absorbing, touching and funny read.

Summary: Who would have thought...
Review: that a book on such a serious topic could be so much fun to read? If someone had come up to me and asked "Would you like to read a book about free will?", I probably would have just said "No way." But Blue Avenger turned out to be one of the funniest things I've read in a while. It all starts on his 16th birthday, when David Schumacher decides to change his name to Blue Avenger after a character he created. In doing so he becomes a unique sort of superhero, simply solving everyday problems, like finding the perfect lemon meringue pie recipe. (I tried it, and it really honestly doesn't weep.)There's plenty of humor along the way, as in the memorable condom-buying scene and classroom discussion. There's a romantic side, thanks to his close friend Omaha Nebraska Brown. There are small seemingly meaningless moments that come back in the end, somewhat like Harry Potter. And of course, there's the free will issue- it really makes you think without taking over the story or getting boring and technical. I knew very little about free will before reading this, but now I can honestly say I have an opinion on it.

Is it realistic? Not really. But will it make you think and laugh out loud? You bet. And that's the whole point anyway.

Summary: Blue Avenger is an interesting person to read about!
Review: The Adventures of Blue Avenger is a great read. I read it over the course of two days. Once you start reading it, you get enthralled in the book. While it's not the best book I've ever read, it's quite interesting. It's got that "it's not real, but it's not too terribly far-fetched" quality to it.
David changes his name to Blue Avenger (not THE Blue Avenger, just Blue Avenger) on his 16th birthday. It's something he's been thinking of doing for a long time. From what I read, he's doing this to find the answer to the ultimate question: Do we really have power over what we do, or is every action predetermined? The book made me think about my own beliefs, and kept me reading to see what his conclusion was. I recommend this book not only to middle- to high-schoolers (to whom David is close in age), but to college students as well, who are all trying to discover who they are.

Summary: A terrific read for all ages!
Review: The Adventures of Blue Avenger is a smart and sophisticated novel that adults, young adults, and early teen readers will enjoy alike. In response to another reviewer on this page, I do not believe this book is only appropriate for those over the age of fourteen - in fact, the book is justifiably included in Scholastic's book catalog for 6th graders (11 - 12 years old)...there's nothing objectionable about it. Read, and enjoy!

Summary: A great book that you _really_ can't put down!
Review: The Adventures of Blue Avenger is overall a very good read. It starts off fairly intriguing, and the plot continues to develope chapter after chapter. This is not a book where you will skip parts, as I... er... well, tend to do.

This novel has great character development. The main characters are lively, intelligent, and people who you'd like to be friends with. An interesting thing about this book is how the social life of Blue (the main character) is portrayed. It seems as if there really isn't any teenage nastiness, or at least not much of it. I think this makes it better than the average book, even though it may not be that realistic. It's refreshing to not read about teen social problems every single page.

Another great thing about this book is the way it works through philosophical questions, mainly the ever-lasting predestination versus free will question. The author brings the questions up throughout the story just enough to keep it largely interesting, but not overkill.

I would say that this book is more appropriate for ages 12 and up. Some of the subjects in it are not something you'd want an eight year-old to read, despite the cover.

All in all, I would recomend it to anyone who is looking for great summer reading. I know that sounds really vague, but it's the truth. I was skeptical when it arrived, but as soon as I started reading it, I was hooked!

Summary: Blue Avenger is a ¿Weepless¿ Wonder
Review: The Adventures of Blue Avenger, was simply amazing. This book had great humor, from the weeping lemon meringue pie to the long drive in Blues van, there was precision in timing and numbers, and also an amazing plot. I really enjoyed how every day problems, big and small, were in the book and had Blue, or another character, solve the problem. My favorite character in the book was definitely Blue. I love how he was always himself, or should I say both of himselves. David Schumanger (Blues name before his name was Blue) didn't have the confidence that Blue had. Blue wasn't afraid to ask out Omaha Nebraska Brown, the girl of his dreams, while David was. Blue could solve the mystery of the weeping meringue, while David couldn't. Blue could become a national hero overnight, David definitely could not. David just felt way more confident as Blue Avenger. So Blue went along solving many simple, but important, problems (All of them in secret because that was the Blue Avengers code.) including helping his best friend with an acne medicine so that his face may be clearer and saving the school newspaper from printing an inappropriate cover. And also help solve big problems like saving a principle from a swarm of bees, and even helped pass a law that will replace bullets(which can kill) with Winger Stingers, a tranquilizing dart that will disenable a persons muscle control for over an hour(so people will be able to defend themselves without killing someone.) Blue Avenger, in my opinion, was one of the most well written books I've ever read.

Summary: A Book About a Superhero
Review: THE ADVENTURES OF THE BLUE AVENGER is a book about a sixteen year old boy becoming the Blue Avenger. I gave my story three stars out of five, because I don't really like the idea of becoming a superhero. I didn't like reading this book, and it wasn't even close to the best book I've ever read. The only part that was interesting was a sixteen year old punk, becoming a hero. Other than that, I didn't like it. it's hard to follow, and it's way too long, it took forever to read. Three stars isn't bad, but it wasn't the best. I would have rather picked something else to read. What kind of name is the Blue Avenger? Overall I didn't like it, it's not even close to a four, or a five.

Summary: A Great Book to read
Review: The Adventures of The Blue Avenger is a fictional book written by Norma Howe. I enjoyed this book because of many reasons. The first reason I enjoyed this book is because there was a bit of reality in the fictional book. Some of the events in the story may have been based on real life, which interested me from the beginning of the book until the end. I also enjoyed this book because of the theme and plot. I enjoyed this because Norma Howe went and showed the theme and the plot quite often and well so, that made me really enjoy this book.
I also liked "The Adventures of the Blue Avenger," because it is entertaining, with the twists that develop in the plot. I also like how this book can relate to some problems that we face today in the world. I also liked the book because the book was very interesting and wanted me to keep on reading it until the end. These are some of the main reasons that I enjoyed the book so much.
The story is about a 16 year old boy named David Schumacher; David's father had died when he was thirteen in a car accident. On David's sixteenth birthday he changes his name to Blue Avenger (an idea he has been thinking about since he was younger), because David wants to be a superhero. The Blue Avenger was originally a cartoon character that David drew. During this story David changes his name to Blue Avenger. Now David is Blue Avenger "the secret champion of the underdog, modest seeker of truth fearless innovator of the unknown". He also completes many tasks that he never thought that he could do before in his life. During the course of the story Blue Avenger he helps to solve disputes and have a girlfriend that he always wanted to have. He becomes famous around the country for his heroics. He saves his principal from a deadly swarm of bees. He also helps pay for treatment for his friend so he can finally have this one girl go out with him. Blue solves crisis's such as helping the school press out. He also is trying to get his driver's license to drive a vehicle. His efforts to try and complete his dream drag on. His dream is to create a perfect non-weeping lemon meringue pie. Through even more of his ideas he helps solve a dispute at a child's birthday party. Once again he finds out that he becomes famous on not one, but two occasions.
Throughout the story Blue Avenger seeks the answer to the question of all questions. This question is "Do we control what we do in life, or are they predetermined by some force that we cannot comprehend?" He also takes on a major quest. This quest is to outlaw guns or bullets, because of the senseless violence and deaths. He discovers a new kind of secret way how to fight back without the senseless violence. Later on his girlfriend, Omaha Nebraska Brown, receives a letter from her brother. Blue Avenger, of course, helps her out, when she is in trouble and needs help. All throughout the story he tries to answer the question with Omaha Nebraska Brown to see if we are really the masters of our own fate or not.
Overall, I enjoyed this book very much. I recommend that people read "The Adventures of The Blue Avenger," because it is very fascinating and has many other good qualities a book should have. I suggest that people ages 10 and up should read this book, mostly because of the vocabulary.
