Summary: "Our Only May Amelia" A book full of excitement and wonder!!
Review: Our Only May Amelia

Have you ever wanted something really bad and when you

finally get it, it's taken away? That's the kind oif situation May

Amelia faces, in the book, "Our Only May Amelia," by Jennifer L.

Holm. May Amelia is having some difficulty in her life. Her problem

is, she's the only girl in her family of 7 boys anmf shje's also the

only girl in her town! She's always wanted a sister because she

doesn't have any friends and she doesn't fir in well.

She also doesn't have a good relationship with her dad. She

she feels she won't be an outsider if there was someone else that

she could play with another girl. It seems in her town, it's very

unlikely to have as girl. May Amelia felt the baby was mostly her

baby because she spent more time with her than anyone else

did. May Amelia did eventually get a baby sister but then the

worst happened. The author puts it like this: "I out my ear to hjr

heart, I couldn't hear nothing, not the little pitter-pat." "I

started screaming Wilbert Wilbert Wilbert and every body came

running in from the barn. I said "My baby's dead!"

May Amelia always knew what to do and how to care for

her. But this time there was nothing she could do. This made May

feel guilty. She felt like she should have done something to keep

the baby alive. Everyone was worried including her father about

her she was acting different ever since the inicident. The were

worried that May would never be the same again.

Summary: A Must Read
Review: Our Only May Amelia is about May Amelia Jackson, the only girl on the Nasel and in her family. A Real Miracle, says her family. But May doesn't always like being a miracle, like when her father doesn't let May take the boat out alone because she's a girl. What May thinks will be a real miracle is if the baby her mother is going to have is a girl!

Summary: Our Only May Amelia
Review: This book tells the story of a twelve year old girl named May Amelia. She is the only girl ever born in the town of Nasel, where she lives. The story portrays May Amelia's many exiting adventures on the Nasel River, her life with seven older brothers, and the pressure on her to be a "proper young lady". I realy enjoyed reading this book. It was very exiting to read about May Amelia's adventures and the trouble she gets herself into. She has a close encounter with a grizzly bear and is shot at by her crazy neighbor. The best part of this book was that you could realy sense how the charactors feel. The author does a good job of putting you in the charactors shoes and you can feel their emotions.

Summary: AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: This was a fabulous book. It's about a girl (May Amelia) who is growing up in a family of her mother, father and 8 brothers. She just wants a sister! Her mother is preganant, so every night she prays it's a girl. Between her mean grandmother who comes to visit and all the trouble she gets into, May Amelia is a fabulous character in one of the best books I've ever read!

Summary: Absolutely great book!
Review: This was an ideal book for my little sister. She needed a book with strong heroine much like herself. She is a tomboy and really related to the character in this book. She was excited to read it and devoured it quickly. It was so wonderful to see her so into a book for a change. I highly recommend this book! Just a quick thank you to the author for such a good book.

Summary: May Amelia Jackson.. a miracle and a delight
Review: Poor May Amelia Jackson is the only girl in her family. That means putting up with seven brothers, and being told, "You can't do this, you're a girl.". Her father is no help, in fact, she isn't sure he even likes her. He is forever scolding her, and expressing his disappointment in her behavior. May Amelia's mother is plumb worn out with the new baby on the way, and depends on May to help even more around the house. May Amelia is even more determined to do the things she enjoys, and to find her place among the boisterous Jackson clan. This is a delightful historical-based story of one young girl's attempt to find the path right for her. Based on thr discovered diary of her grandaunt, Jennifer Holm crafts a sweet tale of a young girl's coming of age in the newly settled timber country of thr rugged Northwest.

Summary: Interesting Characters & Exciting Story
Review: The novel Our Only May Amelia was written by Jennifer L. Holm, the grandniece of the main character May Amelia Holm, who happened to be the ONLY girl ever born in the Nasel River settlement. Her diary was discovered few years ago, and that was what inspired Jennifer Holm to write her book based on the life of her grandaunt. May Amelia, the main character of the novel was born in the nineteenth century as the youngest sibling after seven older brothers, near the Nasel River in Finland. She was a miracle when she was born, being the only girl ever born in the new settlement. May Amelia Jackson might have been a miracle, but she just couldn't behave like a proper young lady because of her love for adventures. Even though her family wanted her to a lady, she hated to be left out when there was an exciting adventure lying ahead of her. It was very hard being a girl all alone, and May believes that she could manage everything better if there was at least one more girl in the settlement. I liked the book a lot because it told about so many thrilling adventures May Amelia had as a young girl with her seven brothers. It was very interesting that there could be such adventures waiting for a girl like me.
