Summary: The book speak is great
Review: The Book Speak Speak was the best book I have ever read. In fact just to give you an idea. I'm not much of a reader and this book I could not but down. The author is Laurie Halse Anderson. Some of the characters where Melinda, Melinda is a teen at merry weather high she is a quiet rude sarcastic person. She is this way because of one reason that reason is for told in the book. Another char is Mr. Freeman is a nice art teacher Melindas favorite person he has a really problem with authority, As I hope you will read he is one of the people who help Melinda find new hope. These are just a view of the characters like Andy Evans and Ivy. She was very popular girl at one time. Then all of a sudden she is not. I hope that you will come to find the reason for this. She gets a friend in the being of the book. Her name is heather and she is a very nice girl. She is an over achiever and is very happy all the time and Melinda starts to hate that. She joins a club called the Martha's and becomes an arin boy for them. Heather stops being friends with Melinda because she is bad imagine for heather. She has to look good to be in the Martha's. So she has to either stop being friends with Melinda or either stop being a Martha.

Summary: Speechless
Review: It starts with one girl in one big town everyone is disgusted with her, because of what went on at the senior party. When high school cane she had but one friend, and it didn't last long. Melinda had chosen not to speak and no one knows why. She can't even reveal it to her parents. Melinda has this thing about people; she prefers to be alone because of IT. IT is the cause of the speechlessness. In this mystical, suspicious novel find out why Melinda is scared to reveal that IT did something to her and it hurt her. Melinda is afraid to speak the wrong, because she knows there will be consequences. After some time she is slowly easing up and speaking telling only one person her emotions and she comes clean. As this Laurie Halse Anderson book describes that Melinda can be strong by speaking the truth not holding it in and taking it for granite. Once an out-cast is now popular. She can live freely to others because she knows strength comes from the inside. I thought the book was a great, suspenseful, and somewhat funny. I give the book two thumbs up for great performance. Laurie had lots of details in there and many guesses for what was going to happen in the future. I recommend this book to grade levels 7-12.

Summary: Speak
Review: Since the begging of the school year, high school freshman Melinda has found that it's been getting harder and harder for her to talk out loud to people. What could've all of a sudden made Melinda mute? Could it be that she busted a high school party by calling the cops? It could also be that she never communicates with her parents because they are always busy and writing notes is the only way they talk. Deep down inside, Melinda really knows why she is mute, it's Andy Evens. Andy Evens is a senior at Merryweather High School. Because of Andy, Melinda hasn't been able to talk due to the fact that Andy raped her at the senior party in August. Laurie Halse Anderson's first novel is a stunning and sympathetic tribute to the teenage outcast. The triumphant ending, in which Melinda finds her voice and loudly confronts her rapist, is cause for cheering. After reading Speak, it will be hard for any teen to look at the class scapegoat again without a measure of compassion and understanding for that person--who may be screaming beneath the silence.

Summary: THE BEST BOOK THAT I HAVE EVER READ!!!
Review: I think that speak is the best book that I have ever read. It is a book that I can get into and actually like. This was the first time I have never been able to put a book down. I love this book because even the cover would catch your eye. It is a great book that will make you open up to discover the real you. look inside to find your self just like Melinda did with her tree. Just like her self Melinda's tree had many different stages But in the end it suited her the best. Do you think Melina will find her self or will she be silent for ever? the only way you can find out is to read this book and believe me you really want to read this book. This is not just some sappy love story for girls to read when we first got this book in class no one wanted to read it we all moaned and groaned but once we had started reading it everyone was reading ahead even the guys and as it turns out the guys liked the book more than the girls and were asking to read another book just lke that. THere are characters that you will live and there are also charaters that you will hate but you will laugh your head off at Melinda's sarcasticness and you will maby even cry when you find out her secret. The book starts out with a well known girl coming in to school as an out cast but whay is she an out cast could it be some thing to do with the party she called the cops on at the end of her eighth grade year. she comes in to her freshmen year with a secret could this secret have something to do with the party could this be part of her silence? If you really want to know al of the answers to these questions then I recomend that you read this book that you read this come follow melinda and Mr. Freemen, Rachelle/Rachel, Ivy, Mr.Neck, and the mysterious guy that Melinda calls it.........

Summary: Speak
Review: How does a traumatic experience change a young girls life? Speak by Laurie Halse

Anderson is a realistic and truthful novel that shows how a once "normal" happy teenager

is forever changed after a wild party. Melinda's world is turned completely upside down

after she calls the cops while at a wild party. She is left speechless after she gives the

operator the address, she is unable to tell them why she is really calling. All of her friends

ditch her because they are mad at her for reporting the wild party. None of them take the

time to ask why she called the cops, none of them take the time to find out the truth.

Speak shows Melinda's struggle to over come the incident, and it describes the trauma

she suffers. It takes Melinda a long time to recover from the memories of that horrid

night because she has no one to talk to about what happened. Things finally begin to turn

around when Melinda finds the courage to confront what happened and tell the truth to

her old best friend. I really enjoyed this novel. It is definitely targeted at my age group. It

was a very quick read and had a good flow. This book taught me many lessons and made

me grateful for what I have in life. It was overall a very good and entertaining read.

Does she get the courage to come out and tell someone or does she keep it in solumn forever. When I first read this book I was so interested and did not want to poot it down. Summary: Speak Review
Review: I thought the book Speak Was an extraordinary book. This book was full of realistic events. Laurie halse Anderson should write a sequal to this book. The main character, Melinda, was one of the few lucky freshman that was invited to the seniors big end of the summer party and ever since that night she has never been the same. She called the police and everybody was angry with her because they did not know what had happened to her, but now even people that she does not know hate her from a distance. Life on the school is horrific for her. She has to go to all of her classes with one friend and after a while her friend decided that she could not be friends with her anymore and as a result she develops a bad habit which is not speaking.

Summary: Insiteful
Review: This book was very interesting. If I had been raped, I would of had that boy in court by tomorrow. This book tells of a girl's struggles after a traumatic experience. Struggles to live on, deal with it, and yes, to speak. Even though her life was at first sort of depressing, it got better. The character herself had a great personality, and a lot of teenage girls can probably relate to her. I know a girl who was raped as a child who refuses to tell her parents. We all probably know somebody, or know them and not know they were raped. Even though I usually go for the strong female image, this book was an exception. I couldn't put it down, I just had to see what happened. I will be sure to read all of the author's works.

Summary: awesome book
Review: I borrowed (okay, stole) this book from my friend yesterday, and I couldn't stop reading it. I read the whole thing in under 24 hours. It's really fast paced, and easy to read. I really loved it. I really love how much Melinda grows in the book and how she learns to deal with her past. I found myself cheering for her everytime something bad happened and booing when something bad happened. I definitly think that everyone should read this book.

Summary: The Teenage Bible
Review: Speak is a beautiful book. It is one of those few books out there that really talks about the pain that teenagers go through. The problems we have, like friends, popularity and just life in general, is hard for us. When I read it, I found that I could relate to the events, which took place and the emotions the characters in the book felt. We might look fine on the outside, but we might be screaming inside, feeling torn. I felt much better toward myself and more comfortable towards the problems I encounter after I read Speak. I feel that I am no longer alone, that many others around the world are also in the middle of this journey. I guess the theme of this book is the pain of teenage years. Speak is written in a strangely beautiful way, it has a special style, so much like a real teen speaking. It seems so real. Speak is humorous, but also sad. It had me hopelessly trapped in its pages and made me want to read it again and again like an addict. I often read Speak when I feel down, sometimes to get some laughter of the things that hurt me so much and other times to seek solace and courage. I just love this book. To me, it¡¦s like a Bible for my teenage battle, making me strong.
