Summary: A truly touching book about a teen with a secret. Very real.
Review: This book really is ***great***. It helps you understand many things about life, and that you shouldn't always suspect that the reason someone did something was because they wanted you in trouble, etc. I cried for like an hour after I finished this book, I love these kinds of books, and I ***TOTALLY*** recommend it. :)

Summary: Speak, an Amazing Book.
Review: I enjoyed Speak beacuase it showed the harsh yet true realities of how cruel high school can be. This young girl was put under the bad side of the list for high school from an end of the year party. She somehow makes it through this tough year with out falling off. Speak is a very exciting and thrilling book, a million things happen the total oppisite of what you think will happen. It kept me on my toes and I'm sure it will do the same to you. Kids or just people that enjoy seeing people go through a rough time and make it out happy or much better will love this book. Speak is more than I expected, in a very good way.

Summary: 'Speak' spoke!
Review: This is an easily written book and can be read very quickly, but that has nothing to say about what is inside. The story, words and characters are absolutely powerful. If you've ever been outcast, ignored or just had a hard time socially, this book is for you. Another great thing is the cynical humor of highschool that the author put in there. I reccomend this book to anyone; it will move you, I promise.

Summary: Wow!
Review: This is probably one of the best books I've ever read, and I've read a lot of them. Laurie Halse Anderson portrays teenage life and society better than I probably could myself. Everybody should read this book. It's the best.

Summary: A new classic of adolescent fiction
Review: Unforgettable. Funny. Poignant. Riveting. This is a book on par with Catcher in the Rye or A Separate Peace. I've recommended it to several people, both adults and teenagers. All have felt compelled to spread the word themselves. Read it.

Summary: Speak
Review: Have you ever been lost? Have you ever felt alone in this world? If you have, i would suggest reading the book "Speak" by Laurie Halse Anderson. This novel is a story about a young girl, Melinda, who is a freshman in High School. Melinda had put an end to a wild party by calling the cops last summer. It was the most devestating moment of her life. For this reason, most of the students at her school resented her in some way and they wouldn't talk to her. Her parents didn't understand her, and she couldn't put up with her teachers. Melinda's secret was eating her alive. Without a friend or anyone to help her, the only place Melinda felt safe was in her mind. However, even there she was trying to deny her fear. She tried to forget about that summer night but things just kept getting worse and worse. The author does an excellent job describing exactly how Melinda is feeling and how her life changed that night. Melinda at last finds something she likes, art. This helps her overcome her fear and allows her to express herself in a creative way. In the end, Melinda finds courage to speak the truth. This novel shows what life is like for teenagers in high school. It shows the many different challenges that a teen must face in order to survive. Overall, this novel is about a teenage girl who overcame her feares and spoke the truth.

Summary: Is Speak the right book for YOU?
Review: Speak is about a girl named Melinda Sordina. She just started ninth grade and has no friends because at the end of the year party in eighth grade she called the cops and busted the party. In the beginning of ninth grade when she entered the gym, she saw many different groups such as: the marthas, the jocks, and many more groups. Melinda didn't sit with anyone because no one really liked her because of what happened in ninth grade. About two weeks into school Melinda met a really nice girl named Heather, They got along really well. Melinda doesn't particularly like the marthas because she said they must shop together because they always where the same clothes as each other.
In her school they get graded on many different subjects then what we normally get graded on, such as; Socail life, Lunch, Clothes, Social Studies, Biology, English, Spanish, Algebra, Gym, and art. Melinda has to make friends, and she said that she must get involved with the School.

Summary: Real-The only word for it
Review: This is a fabulously written book that made me want to do nothing but read it. Melinda is a real girl that goes to my school and every school in America. The outcast whose story no one knows is finally told. I highly recomend this book to any teenage girl. It's a perfect mix of darkness and lightness.

Summary: A Must for the girls in all of us
Review: I have realized that many young adult fiction novels surpass most adult reads. This is no exception to that thought. Once I shifted my mindset to the script like format this book is written in, I soared through it. While our main gal here speaks almost nothing to a soul around her (it seems like no one even notices!) her perception is right on the money. Sometimes funny, sometimes painful, always honest observations of High School life are noted in her perspective. You are so happy for her strength in the end, you will want to shout! I read this in one afternoon, gave it to my mom, then my sister who also ripped through it. It is just that good. But then again, I am a sensitive girl who delights in honest "chick books" which seem believable and uplifting. This is one of those books.

Summary: Very Realistic and Gripping
Review: I recently chose to read Speak for an eighth grade book report and loved every second of it. It was a great book to read if you start your report late ...... because you won't put it down once you pick it up. I finished it in two days, which was awesome, and I just wrote my book report which isn't due until Friday. We've had about two months to work on our project and I left it to the last week. I'm glad I chose to read Speak.
