Summary: the book speaks for itself.
Review: Speak is the best book I have ever read. Laura hales Andersons first novel was a hit in my book. Melinda is a freshman who used to be the most popular girl in school. Now, she's the loneliest. After calling the cops a senior's end of the year party and getting all of her friends in trouble, she is looked down upon as the girl who busted the party. She has no way to speak for herself, so she communicates through art. Through the first 2 "semesters" of the book, Melinda talks about the beast. Andy Evans. He's the reason why she called the cops. I never thought that the reason was true, until I finished.

Suspenseful and true. These are the only word that can be used to describe this book besides fabulous. Speak is the one book that every teenager can relate to. The story of the popular people and the out casts. The jocks the skaters the Martha's. All of the stereotypes that are used through the high school years. The story of the book is what convinced me to keep on reading. I never put the book down.

Summary: Well Written and makes you think, October 20, 2003
Review: Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson is very good and makes you think about the story. Melinda got raped at a summer party and called the police. At the beginning of school all her friends hate her. She doesn't talk and the only place to express her feelings is in the art room. Melinda has a very trouble some year, which just makes things worse. This is a fascinating book and very well written. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to think about what they read and wants to read a good book.

Summary: I LOVE the BOOK
Review: Speak by Laurie Anderson, was a book i could never put down. My body shivered in fright, and smiled very bright. Melinda a main charecter was an outcast, no one wanted to talk to her, sit next to her. She was a loner and a gonner in this school. She was like this because she called the cops on the last day of summer party. She couldn't tell why, she couldn't even rememmber what happened. Then when she started taking art classes she found a way to tell people what happedned with out using words. The author had great intentions for the readers one of them was don't be afraid to do something even though people are going to hate after. I recommend this book to people who like real life things and have something hard and long to think about. Will Melinda tell her secret. What is her secret. Those questions you will have to find out by reading the book.

Summary: The secret that tore her up inside and out
Review: I loved this book. It is about a freshman girl named Melinda, that is having a hard time beginning high school. The summer before her freshman year she went to an end of the summer party. There was alchohol and drugs there. She got drunk and went outside. There was another guy out there with her. He was a senior. Something really bad happened out there and she was so scared that she ran inside and called the cops. Rachel saw her calling the cops and when they heard the sirens coming, her best friend slapped her across the face. Melinda ran home that night scared to death. When school started, she didn't have any friends because of what she did. They all hated her even people she didn't know made fun of her and hated her. When her ex-bestfriend starts dating the guy that was outside with her, Andy, right before she called the cops, she tried to warn her but Rachel didn't care. They dated and when prom came up Rachel and Andy went she then found him flirting with other girls and talking to his jock friends and telling them that he was just using her Rachel heard the whole thing she then left him standing in the middle of the dance floor. Rachel also found out what he had done to Melinda and she then went and talked to her and forgave her. The whole school found out about it but they were on her side all the way. If you want to know more read this amazing book. It willl keep you reading till the last page!

Summary: How was Speak?
Review: The book Speak is a wonderful book for teenage girls because it tells the accounts of a how a fourteen-year-old girl was raped. The main character Melinda starts off here first year of high school being an outcast who has no friends. She "ruined" the biggest party of the summer by calling the police. The reason she called the police was because a senior Andy Evans raped her not because she wanted to ruin the party. This book shows how Melinda's life is though her freshman year of high school. I like this book so much because I can relate to her, not that I have been raped but how other people my age live. The book also taught me a lesson to always be aware because some day I to could be raped too. I loved this book so much if you want a good read you should read it.

Summary: It's hard for a little girl to escape a terrible memory
Review: This story is a kind of good book that adult should read. It realizes the society that women and girls are becoming the victim of rape. It is so hard for the innocent girl to get rid of the terrible memory after she was raped.Try to imagine that if we are raped by someone, what should we do after being raped and how we feel. The person who rapes another person is such the terrible evil that should be killed and get the very heavy punishment.
