Review: 'Cartooning Basics' is a wonderful tool for young aspiring cartoonists. No. 2 illustrates how to create friendly, familiar characters from simple shapes, which every child can relate to (ie circles, ovals, squares, triangles, etc.). Art teachers can gain lesson ideas that are effective and easy to implement. This is a great buy and a must read for any aspiring cartoonist, art teacher and student alike. Duane and Angie have created a fun, creative, well-illustrated tool in 'Cartooning Basics'.

Summary: A new, funny, how-to-cartoon book filled with great lessons.
Review: Duane Barnhart has expanded his cartooning career from national magazine cartoons, newspaper syndication, and book illustration to include the classroom as an artist-in-residence. He now brings his successful cartooning lessons to everyone in Cartooning Basics. The book carries many endorsements from teachers, parents, professional cartoonists, and most importantly, KIDS. Charles M. Schulz, Creator of Peanuts, wrote the foreword, and initial response indicates the book will become a standard reference in cartooning and teaching

Summary: One of the most comprehensive cartooning books available.
Review: Duane Barnharts Cartooning Basics is not your run of the mill guide to cartooning. His years of teaching cartooning shine in this fun, informative guide. Cartooning Basics is especially designed with the young reader in mind. Although it is equally fun for all ages, it's easy format and fun characters give the young cartoonist a sense of participation, drawing them easily into it's text. If you have a young one who is interested in the art of cartooning, this is the one to buy!

Summary: This book is great for all ages and in the classroom!
Review: Duane's book is the best one I have found on the toppic of cartooning. Duane split the book up into easy to usderstand and to follow lesson. These lessons make it easy for a student of cartooning, such as myself, to learn without being overwhelmed by the intake of information. This book is great for kids and it is fun to follow No. 2 around with an un-named bird as they teach the lessons with detail. The depth of the teachings is easy to draw and will make a cartoonist out of anyone. Every classroom should get this book because it is a great tool and answers some of the most basic questions that every teacher faces about drawing.
