Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Important book to have Review: I think this book is reallyreally useful to have if you want to draw battles. Really useful. The only reason it doesn't earn it's last star is that the art is not really manga-style, and the fact that there are about three girls in the whole book...but if you know enough of drawing to be able to see the basic shape of the position, and draw it how you want it, then this book is an excellent buy! I love it and I use it all the time!!!!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Great for reference Review: Martial Arts & Combat Sports cover a good variety of martial arts from judo, karate, to boxing and street fights. It even shows how you draw the uniforms, weapons, and proper poses and positions for each discipline in great detail. Interestingly enough, this book shows martial arts moves that you can literally put to action yourself as it shows it step-by-step.
This book is basically a reference for martial arts moves - proper throws, kicks, punches, etc. It doesn't show special effects like motion lines and so forth. For someone who is familiar with these moves this book becomes pretty much irrelevant to use. If you're looking to show your moves in motion (using action lines and so forth), get your hands on the Illustrating Battles edition.
If you would like view action moves without the baggy clothes hindering the view as found in this book, get Ozawa's How to Draw Anime & Game Characters, Vol. 4: Mastering Battle and Action Books.
All in all, this book complements the other two and would be better getting as a set.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: AWESOME EXAMPLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: okay, I was sooo excited when i saw this book and I love it! This isn't a book that will show you HOW to draw, more like it will show you examples. LOTS of EXAMPLES that I found very helpful. The types of fighting they show are: judo karate KENDO Boxing and Street Battles I especially like the Kendo part which has SEVERAL pages dedicated to this particular martial arts. If you wantt hem to show you how to draw circles and triangles and what not with fighting then you'll be disappointed. As stated before is show dozens of examples, many times they have several different views of the same move. They also include tips, and facts about the maritals arts which I found helpful to learn. They show the equipment that are used in detail which is helpful when you do close up versions of a punch for fancy foot work! So, I hope this has helped. I LUV this book, so many helpful moves I can copy and look good in the process.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Nonchalantly content Review: This book has proved to be somewhat usefull. It shows a variety of posses from different fighting styles as well as different uniforms and fighting arena's used for each. It shows how the different uniforms flow according to different stances and moves, this is also usefull if your are planning to draw using the uniform, but what I found unsatisfactory about this book is that since it shows all the moves in very loose, often times baggy, clothing you do not grasp the full understanding of what the body parts look like performing the actions. Ofcourse this greatly affects upon drawing a female fighter. Most of the pictures are male, but if it showed there muscular structure during the combat it would be easy to understand the differences between the female and male posses. Other than that I have no complaints.
