Rating: Summary: worthless Review: Any good Hebrew scholar worth any thing will tell you that this is a false premise and that the Bible code does not exist. In fact, there have jsut been released information on studies regarding this proposal and there is no good information that this book is based in anything except wishful thinking. Rating: Summary: Probably a few kernels of truth among a field of iffy reason Review: Before I say anything, I should say that I believe it is possible that all the connections in the book are correct, as are the predictions, etc., but I was almost laughingly shocked at some of the poor evidence for the connections given in the book. The idea in the book is that words have numbers associated with them, and the book of Revelation has sufficient clues for us to piece together what will occur in the coming apocalypse. I actually agree that someone of their "big discoveries" may have some merit: The fact that "Adolf Hitler- Austria" has a numerical value of 666 may very well not be coincidence, for example. My issue with the book (and I have only read 1/3 of it or so) is that many times they reduce words to single numbers by adding the digits together, so a word that originally signified "285" would equal "15" (the sum of its digits 2+8+5), which would equal "6." Now, some quick thinking with this methodology lets one realize that this means that any given word has a 1/10 chance of being related to ANY other word: so of course you can find connection! To make matters worse, you get to subtract 1 from anything that is antipodal to the Lord, but it seems they do this at their own discretion, sometimes subtracting, sometimes not. With this much wiggle room, you can easily make connection between all types of things. They also seem to throw away some information and occasionally make what seem to be absurd deductions: For example there is a portion of Revelation that says "And there were 200 million cavalry.....and 1/3 of mankind was slain." They then say "Wow! when you take 1/3 of 200 million you get 66,666,666 people (plus 2/3 of a person!), which is in the hypothecated range of the number of people killed in WW2! NOTE: The Revelation says 1/3 of MANKIND, not 1/3 of the number of cavalry. 1/3 of mankind at that point was much greater than 66 Million. Anyway, I really find the scholarship of this piece of work quite poor.
Rating: Summary: Wish I'd been there. Review: I wish I'd been there with them as they explored the gematria of Revelation. And the author, Gerard Bodson does take you there, he shares with you the ups and downs, the highs and lows of this journey shared by two theologians, a semiologist, a computer expert and an historian. Only trouble was, I kept wanting to put in my two cents worth. For centuries we have been trying to decipher the name of the beast being 666. I stongly suspect that somebody knows, always has done and is not letting on, more is the pity. Perhaps the truth of this revelation, will in fact set us free. The group in "Cracking the Apoclypse Code" attempt to do exactly that and more. Whether you agree or disagree, you have to admire their tenacity, their dedication to their cause and the support that they gave each other. Many of their conclusions are enlightening, though ultimatly in the end, depressing and soul destroying. After all, Revelation does end on a high note, for those who choose freedom over and above Fascism. And perhaps it is to that choice that we should turn our attention. For by their research, they have given us a warning about making the wrong choice, never more so than in the last chapter when their own fears are realized. Western democracy and the freedoms it enjoys should not neccesarily go hand in hand with moral and spiritual poverty, and that is where we falter. The choice is quite easy to make really. As an analogy, it's Nelson Mandela or Marilyn Manson. Whatever fascist state we might have to confront in the future, no matter how materially strong we are, we will falter without truth, compassion and moral values. "Cracking the Apoclypse Code" is a warning for those with ears to hear and eyes to see. The most frightening aspect is that part of their predictions came true.
Rating: Summary: Interesting, if maybe not foolproof Review: It is true that some of the connections made through numbers are iffy -- yet brainstorming really is the only way to come up with possible events which to connect to one another. Regardless of certain extrapolations, this work parallels some of what Nostradamus prophecied and reflects certain current events. The book contains other interesting information about other connected events, such as dead presidents, as well as being very thorough about the Bible's Revelations, which I had had no contact with before. Also, none of the other reviewers seem to realize that this book was originally written in French(which is the one I read), and that what they're reading is a translation...which may have an effect on the communication of the finer nuances present in some of the arguements and discussions. It's also a quick read-- I read it in 2 days! you should definitely go for the soft cover edition when it comes out :)

Rating: Summary: No bible code... Review: Many outright dismiss this book claiming the Bible Code does not exist, but this book has nothing to do with Bible Code, so this should not stop you from picking up this book. This book deals with pure numbers, using Gematria to find paralells between words in Revelations. Bodson narrates the story rather well; it doesn't drag at any point and is a good read throughout. He basically leads you through from the assembly of the research team to the trials and tribulations they experience. The theory is far from solid, and leaves you to draw your own conclusions. Of course nothing is fool-proof and some things are just speculation, but the Apocalypse Code is an interesting read, and some of the connections brought up in the book seem uncanny. Especially "wormwood fire" and the meaning of "Chernobyl," the name of the nuclear plant which exploded being Ukranian for wormwood. It is thought provoking.
Rating: Summary: Good Investigative Work Review: The author and the people who worked with him over the years to make this book possible have done a good job in breaking the Gematria Code of the Apocolypse. Whether the future predictions are true or not the past ones were certainly accurate regarding the Second World War. Someone mentioned in a review Bible Code, this work is not the same as the Bible Codes of the skip system principle. This work is pure number and no if Elvis Presley is 8 and Jesus is 8 it doesn't mean they are one and the same you must have a code to work with within the verses of the Bible to bring out what is hidden. This book by Gerard Bodson does just that.
