Review: Psalm 119 is a prayer to God that addresses practically every problem and situation in life. This psalm provides an excellent and comprehensive source of help for anyone in the area of counseling. In his book, "Counsel from Psalm 119," Jay Adams explains ways to apply the Scripture text in Psalm 119 to counseling others, and to the personal spiritual growth of the counselor, as well as the counselee. Dr. Adams expounds upon the text and thoroughly discusses each verse in the psalm. He also provides profound insights into the importance of studying and meditating upon Scripture. He encourages the counselor to study the the Word of God personlly in order to be more equipped in teaching others the value of Scripture. I chose to read this book devotionally, taking a passage each day. Through the study of this book, I became more aware of the centrality of the Word in the life of a child of God I also discovered ways to apply Scripture to all situations and relationships. This is a book that every biblical counselor should have as a resource for helping others.
