Rating: Summary: Pretty skimpy Review: The late A.L. Barry was the President of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. This is a short (less than 200 pages) introduction to the book of Acts. It is easy, even pleasant to read, but I found it pretty skimpy for my tastes. Probably better as an introduction for the new reader of the New Testament book.
Rating: Summary: Journey with a faithful shepherd through the early church Review: This is a fine work on the book of Acts. Setup to be used as a Bible-study, we have used it with great results in this way.Or read on its own, Dr. Barry uses the vehicle of his own family vacations to show the spread of Christianity from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth. Done with loving pastoral vision, Barry also makes the reader aware of the dangers on this journey, but most of all does he admonish all travelers to keep their eyes focused on the Christ. Written concisely in simple style, yet with profound meaning and reflection.
