Summary: This book is for anyone who wants peace
Review: This is a disturbing and beautiful book. The author tries to make sense of the country's warrior attitude to the rest of the world following the terrorist attacks on 9/11. The gist of the message is that we need to embrace what the author calls precarity, which is basically insecurity. Only in insecuritycan we be free enough to trust ourselves, others and God. The final chapter, where the author talks about Christian pacifism in terms of the downward path (instead of the upwardly mobile path)is excellent.

Review: What trash. Jacob's Hip's author is clearly one of those so-called Catholics who wants to bend the teachings of Holy Scripture to her own radical left purposes. Her basic point is that the United States should roll over and let terrorists destroy us because that's what Jesus would want us to do. Typical crap that you get from the liberation theology crowd. It's all "love your enemy" when it comes to bad guys. Whatever happened to the idea of sin and punishment?!The Church has always accepted that some wars are just, and that Christians have a duty to protect women and children. Jesus himself said that he came with a sword. St. Paul tells us to obey government. What part of that do authors like Waters not understand? This book was probably underwritten by Osama bin Ladin.
