Review: This "Daily Thoughts and Meditations" features a proverb a day for a year. Under each proverb is a short heartwarming story illustrating the proverb of the day. It closes with a short prayer. I like the stories. Unfortunately the Proverbs are quoted in the King James Version which is the hardest to understand and least accurate. Amazon's catalog lists this devotional as being released May 1988, but the copyright page says 1986 (in Roman numerals). This devotional makes a good supplement to a more in-depth Proverbs commentary. However, I would go with the newer revision of it (March 1997 - ISBN 1577480155)also available from Amazon.com. To really get into the heart of Proverbs read THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO THE BOOK OF PROVERBS by Cody Jones. The in-depth commentary includes many historical drawings and photos to give the reader a sense of the culture of the time. Numerous Biblical characters are pointed out who illustrate King Solomon's witty observations on human nature. Six of the most popular translations are offered in parallel as an aid to understanding.
